Anyboday have a Halloween vhs cover or dvd cover they just can not stand?
For me it's the Halloween II Universal with Michael's face with laurie caught in his eye lol. Just curious if anyone else has one they can't stand.

Both of the Goodtimes VHS covers, for "Halloween II & III" were horrible. Although "H3" was quite better than "H2"'s.

Both honestly, i'd take those anyday of the week over the covers for "H2O" & "H:R". There's something un-"Halloween" about those covers. I don't know what it is.

The H2 Universal cover is abysmal.

I like the H2 Goodtimes VHS cover, especially the use of Loomis and Laurie over the pumpkin. If you look closely, the head is flipped horizontally. The DVD cover sucks in that it's a collage, some of them being from other Halloweens.

The H3 Goodtimes DVD uses the pumpkin from H2 which is super-dumb. I really enjoy the VHS cover though.

I also agree that the H20 and H:R ones lack a Halloween feel.

The good times covers just scream unprofessional. A cheesy collage of images for H2? Lame.

I saw people complaining about the uni H2 cover. I don't mind that one :P. Uni is idiotic for not using the original halloween III font on their dvd cover. Instead we get some weird looking font that they just made up.

Tackiness aside, I can bear with the H2 and H3 GoodTimes covers....but that damned BlockBuster Presents cover for the 1995 H1 is pretty hard to stomach LOLLOL.

Goodtimes H2 one. That one makes it look like some super cheesy horror flick. The H20 one because it is too Scream like and has no imagination. And the H:R one. It's a copy of H20 with the metallic red title letters. Lacking the Halloween feel. I have no problem with Blockbuster presents or the H3 Goodtimes DVD really. They're just not the best.

For me it's the circa-1999 set of H1-H20 VHS tapes from Sweden that has the H6 poster art on every single cover for all seven of the movies (including H3). It looks so bad. Also the 1997 Australian H2 release on Force Video is pathetic; one of the pictures on the back is of the H4 poster artwork! Pathetic.

Haha, there's a French DVD of H3 with Michael from H4 on the back. Though it happened with the US Goodtimes release, the use of pics from the wrong movies are more prevalent in other countries. They can't seem to get things right lol.

I forgot about the Blockbuster edition that Josh pointed out.

For me--it's the H20 and H:R covers. They are the same cover with different actors. *shudders* I don't know... they're too 'new school' feel. I like the feel of the old covers. They're Halloween Classic.

The H2 Universal is pretty lame and it just seriously lacks in creativity. I'm also not a fan of the Resurrection cover not really due to how it looks but just for the fact that it's basically a copy of the H20 cover. Something different would have been better because Jamie Lee Curtis shouldn't appear like that. What were they thinking?!

The Halloween 4 cover with the house and Michael. They used the wrong mask, and the wrong house.

dave626
03-24-2007, 04:56 PM
Well, as for the mask, they couldn't very well put up the crappy mask they used in 4, for whatever the reason people would wonder who that was supposed to be and why the crappy mask and noone would see it. Generally VHS and DVD covers are straight from the movie poster, excluding upgrades on H2, so the poster couldn't be released like that. Even after, the mask was a big stink for fans, and they didn't want people who missed it at theatres to be biased.

As for the house, that's the right house. That was not the Myers house, it was the Wallace house and the scene where Michael is walking across the street to kill Laurie who lost the keys to the Doyle house.

So to be fair, the H4 cover is fine. Hell of alot better than the mask used in the movie.

and for two, short hair? PLEASE. her hair was mingin in HR.

I'm not a big fan of the anchor bay cover of H1 with The Myers mask on it and I don't like the universal H2 cover with the half white, half black myers mask with Laurie in one eye. They just look stupid. And the H4 and H5 anchor bay cover just gives you a false impression of what the masks are gonna look like and that pisses me off.

I think the covers should have never changed from the original releases and always used the original poster art (well, except H20 and HR needed better posters). I think what worked so well about the first 6, especially 1-3, was the simplicity of them. Kinda like Carpenter's less-is-more approach. Leave it up to the mind of the viewer. It was the video covers of H4 & H5 which really caught my eye and led me to rent the entire series when I was 8 years old. The Pumpkin Knife, H2 Pumpkin, and H3 trick-or-treaters are really iconic to me, because they're so simple, yet very eerie all at the same time.

The first version of Halloween that I owned was the blockbuster vhs tape. That was pretty bad.

I absolutely HATE the universal version of Halloween 2. The cover is horrible and that red spine looked stupid on my bookshelf next to the black of all the other covers. I bought the universal version for the anamorphic transfer, but eventually ended up putting that disc in the goodtimes case. The goodtimes case isn't perfect, but it's better than that load of garbage that Universal put out there.

Also, I LOVE my limited edition set that I bought back in '99. I love having both the theatrical and tv versions in one set, but I never really did like the
3d cover that came with that set. I just prefer the pumpkin/knife cover.

That's pretty much it for me.

The worst is anything after V . Although the most intriquing is Halloween III.

I can't say why, but when I saw the poster with the trick or treaters and then read..."Season of the Witch" freaked me out, I believe I was twelve.
