I'm guessing you mean the main Zombie featured in George A. Romero's Dead Films...

I would say Bub, hands down.

There really aren't any main zombies in these flicks, it's mostly humans that are the main characters. The only one i can think of is Bud and the black guy from Dawn of the Dead remake.

My favorite zombie is from George Romero's Day of the Dead. It's the zombie with it's bottom jaw ripped off and it's tongue hanging out. That zombie creeped me out the first time I watched that movie.

I like the graveyard zombie in Night of the Living Dead 1968. He was scary as hell. He would stop at nothing to get at Barbra. I remember when I first saw that movie only a couple years ago (rented it from Blockbuster when they still rented vhs tapes) and that zombie was breaking through the window with a brick (or rock?) and reached in for Barbra, I thought that was really nerve wracking.

Of course Bub (Day of the Dead) is a kick ass zombie, and so is the zombie that got the top of his head sliced off by helecopter blades in Dawn of the Dead 1979.

I seem to go back and fourth on this, but currently my favorite one is the very first one in the original Night of the Living Dead, when Johnny is fighting him and he brings Johnny down and looks up at Barbra. That moment when he just looks up at her is very frightening in my opinion.
