A script idea... Copycat 2

Has anyone seen the movie "Copycat" with Sigourney Weaver and Holly Hunter, about a killer copying other serial killers.

Well I got an idea to do a "Copycat 2" where a killer is copying the killers from horror movies.

Does that sound like a good story.

Does that sound like a good story. I really liked this movie. That sounds like a cool idea. If it were made I'd go see it. Sounds like a good time.

COPYCAT 2

a screenplay by JOHNATHON NEWCOMER


FADE IN

EXT. STUDIO C.- AFTERNOON

We open outside a movie set. CLOSE SHOT on the door A sign on the the door says,
"The Copycat Killer" Studio C: Closed Set. Authorized Personnel Only

CUT to:

INT. MOVIE SET

Scene CUTS to inside the movie set. POV on set of a public bathroom, an actress
dressed in a red dress is hanging by a wire from the bathroom stall. A man dressed
in black is playing the killer talking with the actress playing "Helen".

ACTRESS
I know all about you. Your just a sad, boring, second rate copycat (laughs).

The ACTOR playing the killer puts a scalpel under her chin.

ACTOR
Watch it bitch. Or I will slice that smile off your face. Do you hear me?

POV on MICHAEL, the brown haired 30something year old director, sitting in his
director's chair.

MICHAEL
Okay, cut. That's a rap. Blah, blah, blah.

He gets out of his chair, goes over to the refreshment table, and grabs a water.

MICHAEL
Everyone. Put the crap away. I'll be in the shower if you need me.

Then he heads over to his dressing room, goes in, and closes the door.

FADE OUT

INT. SAME- LATER THAT DAY

MICHAEL walks out of the dressing room. His hair is damp. The set is empty, and quiet.
So quiet that you can hear a pin drop.

MICHAEL (to himself, exhausted)
Finally this movie is almost over.

Then a beeping sound catches his attention. The beeping is coming from the stall of the bathroom set.

MICHAEL
What the fuck?

He heads towards the stall. He looks under the toilet.

From MICHAEL's POV, we see a Nokia cell phone, beeping because it received a text message.

MICHAEL picks up the phone, and reads the message.

CLOSE SHOT on the phone's screen. The text message says: "Gotcha!".

MICHAEL looks at the phone in confusion. Then the wire comes down around his neck,
then he's lifted off the ground. He's hanging above the toilet.

From MICHAEL's POV, a young, brown haired white male walks in front of us, holding the script
to the movie, and a hunting knife.

MAN
I told I would make a good killer, Michael. You don't remember me? It's me, Jason.
You called me a D-list celebrity that day at the auditions.

JASON, starts reading the script.

JASON
Okay it says here I need to kill a security guard. So I'll call security.

JASON picks the cell phone, off the ground, and dials a number.

JASON
Hello. This is Michael Hunt, down at Studio C. We have a gentleman here who refuses to leave.

SECURITY GUARD (VOICE OVER)
I'll be right there Mr. Hunt.

JASON
Thank you.

He hangs up the phone.

JASON
See I'm a good actor. I played you very well.

JASON takes out a roll of duct tape, and takes out a strip.

JASON
Now, I can't have your rich Hollywood ass squealing to the rent a cop, so I have gag ya.
And tie your hands together.

CUT to:

EXT. STUDIO C.

The fat bald SECURITY GUARD walks up with his gun, and opens the door.

INT. MOVIE SET

From SECURITY GUARD's POV, we see MICHAEL hanging in the stall, with tape over his mouth,
and his hands tied behind his back. He's standing on the toilet seat.

SECURITY GUARD takes out his walkie talkie.

SECURITY GUARD (into the walkie talkie)
Hank. Call the cops. We need back up at Studio C.

The SECURITY GUARD runs over to MICHAEL.

SECURITY GUARD
I'll get you down, Mr. Hunt.

As the SECURITY GUARD tries to untie the ropes bounding MICHAEL's arms together, JASON's
hunting knife comes across his throat. Then we see JASON right behind the SECURITY GUARD
reading the script, holding a knife to his throat.

JASON
Okay it says here I put a knife to this stupid retards throat. Then take his gun.

JASON grabs the gun from the SECURITY GUARD's hand, and holds it to his head. He's holding the
knife in his left hand, and holding the script and the gun in his right.

JASON
Now it says, "should I stick him, or shoot him. shoot him or stick him. Huh? I'll go
ahead and do both.

JASON slits the SECURITY GUARD's throat. Blood squirts out of the wound. Then he
throws him to the side, and fires two bulletts in his chest.

JASON
Wow. Put that in your movie.

He walks up to MICHAEL, and looks at the script.

JASON
Now it says "You and I are gonna have a little fun".

CUT to:

EXT. STUDIO C.

Several police cars, and two ambulances pull up to the studio.

CUT to black screen.

Superimpose in red letters:

COPYCAT 2

I've never seen or heard of copycat but this is good from what you have. :) Keep it up.

Loved the first movie and love your sequel idea. Call up Sigourney, Johnathon... could happen.

And for those of you who haven't seen the original Copycat, you should. Weaver plays victim to a psycho killer... the catch is she has goraphobia (fear of going outside).

Hey Johnathan. We want to read more! Were you thinking Helen would even return? I mean, they are making a movie about her. Close to "Scream 3" but still very different and very good so far...

No. Helen was an expert on serial killers. She's not the target for a horror movie killer, because in the first Copycat,she seemed to have been challenged in different parts by the killer who knew of her work in serial killers. The character Michael is a horror movie director, so he's an expert on horror movies, so the killer will challenge him. Sorry I'm not showin more 'cuz I'm busy, and don't get much time.

I love Copycat. Did anyone else get the feeling it was supposed to be a girly version of Se7en? Also, it hasn't aged well at all. I watched it last month and it just seemed very cliche mid 90s suspense to me.

Regardless I still like the film. I think it's one of Weavers best performances.
