Dang, I wanted to make another copy of the Halloween II television cut too. Oh well, at least I see some other interesting additions this year.
While it is one of my favorites, I haven't seen Silver bullet in quite a while. I'll have to be sure to watch that one.

WTF!? No Army of Darkness either?!? BOOOO!!!!. Why didn't they get rid of Pinata: SI or Mimic 2? Now those movies suck! It's just not going to be the same without a Halloween II TV cut this year...Damn.
Nice additions are The Omen and Puppet Master though. I'll tune in for those! I'll even probably end up watching They Live for the 203850984509790254th time on AMC.

I wish AMC was showing more halloween in this years monsterfest, but it's no biggy I guess. What makes up for this is the fact that USA apparently is going to air Halloween. YESSSS! I'll finally get my halloween tv cut dub.

Halloween II and III are replaced by movies like Mimic 2 and Scream 2? Ew. What are they thinking?! It's great that Sci Fi is playing Halloween II and III, but they belong more to the AMC Monsterfest than Mimic 2 and Scream 2 in my opinion. Just EW! Leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I'm sure it's all a matter of money. The stations buy the rights to play the movies. AMC buys so many movies for the season, so they go for sequels and b movies to fill up time because they are cheaper. On the other hand, USA prob spent alot of money on Halloween, but not much on other movies. It's not really that AMC decided that the fans would rather watch Mimic 2 than H2, just business. Each year monsterfest gets worse, so I'm guessing the ratings are falling. Three years ago it started to go downhill, but this last year sucked bad. I'm glad I have alot of horror dvd at least. And I doubt that Spike will play the Friday movies. I haven't seen them on there for a long long time. Unless someone has some comfirmation, I'm afraid they have given that up already. And the dvd boxset will be out by then anyways. I'm still hoping for some short screamers though, those are great. Too bad they won't have an hour devoted to them like 2 years ago w/John Carpenter. That was awesome.

well it's an ok lineup. but why can't they show the movies in order or at least some of the sequels. they have only phantasm2, what about 1, 3-4?
Yeah, but it's HALLOWEEN, for the love of common sense!
You'd think they could have put H2 into the lineup, especially since most people like it better than H5.

It features a mutant bug that takes the form of a human. I don't remember the exact happenings of what went on in the movie, but I think it could be classified as a monster movie and be shown on Monsterfest. But the movie itself sucks anyway.

I don't think they have the rights to any of the "Halloween" films.
Of the franchise films, I believe they've got the rights to the first eight "Friday The 13th" films, and the original "Nightmare On Elm Street", and that's it.

After giving that monsterfest line up a quick look, I'll admit that I'm pretty dissappointed. Since i'm pretty much strictly halloween when it comes to horror films, I basically judge monsterfest by how much they'll be airing the halloween films. MF 2002 was awesome, last years was pretty good too, but this looks a bit lame. But like I said before, at least i'll beable to finally dub H1 from usa and have the true tv cut.

Oh snap, that pisses me off. I almost fell off my chair when I was watching H2 on AMC and the room explodes and Jimmy slips in the puddle. I was in a "what...the fuck..." stage for the rest of the night.
Heh. I'll be having my own Halloween marathon this year anyway. All 8 "Halloween" movies, "Friday the 13th" marathon, Scream, Ginger Snaps 1, 2, and 3, Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, TCM 1, 2, 3, and Next Generation, Exorcist, Hellraiser, Children of the Corn, and some other classics....
...obviously I'll be starting a few days early :)
We need to contact those AMC goons and let them know that not airing Halloween 2 during monsterfest is unacceptable.

It not only sucks, it doesn't make sense. The whole monster fest concept is about the Halloween holiday. Why the **** wouldn't they show as many of the Halloween movies as they are capable of?
I wish I knew how to contact AMC because I would certainly let them have a little piece of my mind.

Well i've seen "Halloween II" on Sci-Fi before, quite a few times, and sorry to tell you this, but ... it's always the theatrical version.
AMC is the only station to air the TV-Cut. USA, TNT, TBS, & Sci-Fi (all the other stations i've watched it on), all air the Theatrical Cut.

Sorry if I offended you in any way. I'll rephrase what I said. In my opinion, last years monsterfest wasn't as good as previous years. I guess I'm just comparing the amount of movies I liked. I still respect that AMC does this for horror fans, I'm was just disappointed that the movies weren't as good. In 2002, we had H2, H3, H4, H5, predator, and all of the Universal Monsters. I felt this lineup was very strong. We also saw the short screamers and had a whole hour hosted by John Carpenter himself. They had interactive games where you could win free stuff, and they did the Backstory:Halloween that was really good. Then last year came. We still had the Halloween sequels, but that's about it. I'm not sure on how long they have been doing it, but I do remember years back watching the universal monsters and other greats. I've also read alot of posts on the amctv.com boards from longtime fans speaking of years I didn't get to watch.

I don't know about all of you but I really was happy with last year's line-up. There was a really good combination of newer films as well as a bunch of old classics. All I have to say is, "Where is The Funhouse?" Tobe Hooper movies=fun. I haven't looked at the official schedule but last year it was basically a Halloween marathon all day on the '31st. That's sweet that sci-fi is play Night of the Living Dead. That movie is never on the tube probably because it still holds up as a violent shocking movie today...but that's another story.

I'll agree that 2002 was better than last years, but still 2003's MF had the short screamers, Clive Barker hosting the actual short screamers show (JC was 02'). I'll admit I can't remember exactly, but i'm pretty damn sure they had the "play and win" games last year. I generally don't pay them too much mind, but there still fun to have.
Does anybody know why AMC isn't showing H2 or H3 this year during monsterfest? I noticed that the Sci-fi channel is showing H3. Did AMC lose the rights to H2 and H3, or did they just decide for some stupid reason not to show the movies?

Tadd explained it very well in the begining of this thread...

Since it seems as if we will not be seeing H2-3 on television on AMC, and I have in fact lost my copy of the H2 AMC tv cut, I was wondering if anybody here can make me a DVD copy of their tv cut or duplicate their videotape for me? Of course I'd pay for the copy, and I really need it as part of my collection.

I think they've got a pretty solid lineup for this years Monster Fest, and the other programs that are on around Halloween every year. I for one, can safely say im not bummed out because i already have H2 tv cut on DVD and vhs. I got the DVD at the 25th Anniversary con last year!

Not as good. :( Halloween II on Sci-Fi doesn't show us the television cut, just the theatrical cut with the usual elements ommitted (language, nudity, gore). At least H2/3 on Sci-Fi is better than nothing, though.

I was checking out the listing and it appears they're showing a backstory for the omen this year, but it's only listed at 30 minutes, which is a little dissapointing.
Not nearly as much halloween being showed this year, but eh, times gotta change I guess. I miss the 2002, 2003 years where they showed them like crazy.

Hey guys,
Just thought I would let you know that there are other horror movies playing on most of the before mentioned channels on
oct 29th oct30th as well as halloween. although I have seen no channel's besides AMC,SCI fi, and USA playing any of the Halloween movies. perhaps local stations will also carry various horror films oct 29th-31st(hopefully some halloween). I was also looking at the THC website (The horror channel) and I am not sure what areas if any, It is available in. I can't believe some of the networks are not playing any horror movies at all on halloween, very sad. Anywho, if anyone has any more info on the horror channel or local horror movie listing in various areas please list them.
Thanks.

And yes, this years monsterfest was a little hokey. My reasoning is that I'm used to watching basically nothing but halloween films on it, not the stuff they showed. Decent effort, hopefully they'll revert back to more halloween films next year.
