View Full Version : Myers House Models?

Hey, I was recently thinking of creating a replicated, scaled, and modeled version of Haddonfield to add to my collection of Halloween memorabillia.
I have checked E-Bay with no luck, but have found several sources with houses that truly represent the feel and look of the original Myers house.
Some are actually very, very close in detail but are almost 1,000 bucks!!
I was wondering if any of you guys could help me out in finding a "Myers house" type of a model house and some housing kits that would be similar to the houses in Haddonfield.
Like I said, I have found several good sources, but more often than not the prices are unbearable.

I am really wanting to go all out on this one, getting lights setup, gathering trees, (Oranges and other fall colors), leaves, bushes, cars, people, and anything I need to make this an authentic replication of Haddonfield.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
MyersFan75

Yep.
That is a great HMH Model - but can anyone else help me out regarding the Myers house models?

I will post some links showing certain houses I think look the best, but I am kind of busy at the moment.

EDIT: Taft, where did you find that picture? Could you possibly provide me with a link?

Thanks,
MyersFan75

I am quite confused myself, but I think I get what Taft meant?
So, can anyone help me out here?

I promise that after I'm done working I will post some links showing several houses I had in mind.

Thanks,

I'm not sure - I was thinking of making a 4 foot by 4 foot display, but it may need to be smaller.
Taft, where did you get the picture of that HMH Model?

Any help would be appreciated, guys.

I meant that you got the idea from a website called "Michael's Basement", in which the webmaster has made scale models of the Myers, Wallace and Doyle houses and that HMH model. If you didn't, fine, as it was only a joke, but I have no idea where else you could get such information you require. I think, like that webmaster, you're just going to have to start from scratch and go by what's seen in the movie.

Yeah, I have searched for the link but couldn't find it.
Could you post it, please?
Also, what does everyone think of the pictures?
I am really wanting to go big with this project but I need help from you guys.

Found it!

The place is awesome. He has some very impressive memorabilia, which includes lobby cards, posters, and masks. Every page had me in awe. I've even seen some SS masks which may be originals; he didn't elaborate. I love the Myers masks, as well as those one-sheets he has on his wall. The list goes on and on. Problem is, it's kind of hard to locate things.

Every page has a "next page" link. Even a few subpages below do. Keep out for them. Also, click the gray button at the top to highlight the text - otherwise you can't see a thing as far as words are concerned.

LOL, thanks for the help but after Taft's post I did another search and found the site - VERY nice site - he has a HUGE collection.

Loved the model houses, I need to make a Myers house like that.
By the way, what did you guys think of the links I posted?

EDIT: He didn't make the Laurie doll, that was done by MMP - I think.
Either that or another Indie mask making company.
I have seen it over at TheHMA before - Nils may be of some assistance.

Yep, doesn't he? Glad you found it. I was interested to see his models as well. Oh, and thanks for telling me about the Laurie doll - I had no idea they already made one.

I love all of the models, but the HMH recreation is my favorite. Someone should make a Silver Shamrock factory one. Now that would rock my socks :D

Scroll through the pages to find the model houses - you need to go to the Haddonfield Workshop area.

Have you viewed the links I posted?
Their are several houses that resemble the Myers house, but need several parts NOT added on and a diff. paint scheme.
I am wanting a whole scaled version of Haddonfield.
I will include the Strode House, the Myers house, HMH, Elrods, Wallace house, Doyle house, and possibly the Myers houses from H5 and H6.
I will have plenty of orange colored trees and bushes, leaves...LOTS of leaves, damp sidewalks and streets, cars, figures...EVERYTHING.
This will take a long time - but I am really wanting to do this.

Thanks,

I have wanted to build a scale Myers house for almost a year now..hey, maybe I can do it this summer. My plan is to build it from scratch instead of working on a pre-existing house. This way, it can look absolutely the same as the actual house - complete with lights and a tiny flight of stairs. Only thing is, I haven't decided on a 1963 or 1978 yet.

Let me think about the steps needed for a custom house, and if you're still interested, I'll send them to you. A model house isn't hard to build if you have patience and creativity. Also, you'll want as many pictures of the house as you can find. In many ways, a custom house is better because it'll give you an even bigger feeling of accomplishment - may be harder, but I could imagine the two of us going nuts on the minor and even major details of transforming a pre-existing house. Too much hassle.

Elrods, Hardware store, Doyle, Wallace, Myers, Strode, HMH...H5 Myers House, H6 Myers house, lots.
I will make a scaled down Haddonfield town w/ dampened streets and sidewalks, colored trees and bushes, leaves, a damp mood, pumpkins, haddonfield decorations, the Clinic where jamie was in H5, the police station, the tower farm, and lots more.

Hey, thanks alot.
I can see the same thing - building from a preexisting house could be challenging but so is customizing one from scratch.
Have you seen some of the houses on the links I posted?
They feature houses that are almost JUST like the Myers house except for maybe a add on garage or a 3rd window on the top story.
Things like this, though minor, are still annoying.

Good idea, but that is totally made up. He can pretty much set everything up however he wants. If the setup doesn't necessarily matter to him, he can just refer to the map to make it easier.

My suggestion is to take it one step at a time, one building at a time. You probably already know this, but I'm just laying it out there anyway. Also, I think you ought to scrap the H5/6 Myers house if you're creating a little town ;)

I checked out a few, and will see the rest tomorrow. Not bad..had I found them somewhere else, they'd have reminded me of the Myers place - in other words, you're on the right track! ;) At least I know you're serious with this project, because digging up those things is not a simple task.

Thanks for all these suggestions.
I will probably scrap the H5 and H6 Myers houses - just go for the original version.
I'm not sure about using the map, I will probably just lay them out wherever, of course...I will be as accurate as possible.

I am planning on even making street signs for the streets - thanks for the suggestions and reply towards the model houses I linked, they took forever to dig up but I am leaning toward a custom model.
However, I may in fact purchase this piece for the porch part of the Myers house...

What kind of scale are you going with (H/O, 1:64, ?) Your best bet....and this is going by the fact that you want to make the entire town, which believe me I would do if I had the mooooollla, you should stop by a hobby lobby or other respected train set stores. Basiccally your only customs would be those that you have talked about so the fill ins are just basic purchases. I would love to do a H-field set when I turn grey. Just one more question...where do you plan to build this at? A set like this takes up an entire basement of a farely large house. If you have any connections with fellow set or train set builders please ask for advice from them on how to lay out a project and decifer what steps need to be taken in order to eliminate situations that will have you wanting to quit.

Best of luck
-Derek.

Thanks for all the suggestions, Rabbit.
Vincent is looking for wood that would be best suitable and I may buy them off of him - in fact, he was wanting to do the Myers house.
They WILL most likely be customs and I do not know where I will put the thing. :p

Anyway, I have been to HobbyLobby plenty of times but they never seem to have the right stuff.
I may go again soon, since it's been a while.
I will have a friend help me out, he works with Lockheed-Martin and helps build new parts to U.S. Jet Planes. He is also very good with wood and all that so he will become a big help. Of course Vincent - you can always rely on Vincent, who will be looking for the right parts and wood.

Yeah.
It is and will definately be hard to complete the task. It really depends on how committed you are and how big you want your models to be. I know that I will want mine pretty big so that I can emphasize detail.

Finally a couple nights ago i finished the final outline for the town. It looks like the size of it will be 5' by 12'. Im gonna use n-scale. I dont really have the money to do this right now, however it was still cool to have an outline done.
Im considering making a smaller outline which will amke it more realistic to actually build.

Whatever size you think - I don't really know how big mine will be actually because Vincent is as of now sizing certain models and finding the right type of wood. He himself is suggesting building the Myers house and then I just buy it off of him.

After I sketched out the town layout i scanned it into paint and went over it with paint to make it easier to understand . Unfortunatly it is way to big to post here. And when I shrink it down the details are too small. Any ideas?

That is cool.
Have fun - I'm not sure what "scale" I'll come up with, because Vincent is sizing the wood like I said before, but I'm hoping I'll have enough space for everything once I'm done!!

75, I got your PM. Still working on finding the right wood for ya...thanks for showing me that link!

Do you still want to proceed with this project? In your message, it seemed as if you now have your sights on another endeavor. Let me know if you changed your mind. I won't be mad.

If you are still interested, we should try to confirm the height you are looking for. I would personally go for 18" - but then again, I'd want it to be proportional to standardized model windows and doors, PLUS the fact that I wouldn't be making an entire model town (therefore, size is of no caution).

BTW, thank you for the compliments you gave toward me in this thread. I appreciate your confidence and trust in me :)

No problem, Vincent.
You're a great guy and I totally trust you - one of the best members on the board. I'm not counting this project out, I am just really set on building an ORCA boat model as well. 18'' inches is honestly pretty big, with would come off great if it were to be just ONE house but if I were to make an entire town there would be no way in Hell I could fit all that into a memorabilia room. I am slightly leaning towards just having the Myers house built and maybe the yard with leaves and such. I was really set on building an entire town but who knows how much cash and time that would take.
So, it's not really decided yet, but I'd say lets just focus on the Myers house right now. After it's done, I may just move on to the ORCA.

Thanks,
MyersFan75

Yeah, 18" is kind of large for your project. How does 6" sound?

BTW, you definitely need to buy a little rubber shark for that ORCA :D

Im prolly just gonna stick with building the myers house myself as it will be considerably less expensive and therefore more realistic. It would also be a nice thing to display on halloween.

Actually 18'' may work. I am really leaning towards scrapping the whole town idea and just having a big Myers house replica.
Actually, a couple of years ago I bought this rubber shark that came with a ripped up fish and blood tablets.
It's about 16'' long!! I am going to have my ORCA model a little more than a foot long, so I think it will work perfect.

I'll post some pictures when I can.

Here are some links to several ORCA boat models.

Have you seen this model?

MyersFan75
07-20-2005, 11:10 AM
Yes.
It's quite nice, but thats mass produced.
I'm looking for a further emphasis on detail, and not HALF of the boat, I'm talking the full blown thing.
Thats made by McFarlane's Toys, but I'm talking about a custom made replica.

Thanks for the link, anyway.
I am wanting to get that, and I saw it on E-Bay a couple of days ago starting at about $8.00!!
But, the last time I check it was up in the twenties, which is where it is usually priced in stores.

K. Down to buisness. I guess the first step in this project is to get blueprints of the myers house. That way we will know what sizes all of the exterior walls will be? Does anyone have them or know a place where we can find them?

MyersFan75
07-22-2005, 04:06 AM
Here are the blueprints made by Brian (Mojo) - it was all his work except for the bottom lefthand corner if I remember. I had them saved on my computer because it was so cool. When you open the link, make sure you maximize the picture for the detail.

Keep in mind that these are for the Myers house in Resurrection, and certain things are added in that supposedly weren't in the original. So, whatever version you and I decide to do, we may have to add things or change things.

They are somewhat hard to understand, but I think Brian did a great job with sketching them out.

Oh. Definatly.

UPDATE:
I have finished the paneling and instaling the windows. Tommorow I paint the outside, assemble the outside walls, and possibly mount it to the foundation and base. After that I have to

- Paint the base

- Decorate the base with grass, shurubs and trees, and the street

- Build the porch

- Final details (doors, leaves, ect)

- Put the light inside

- Make the roof and attach it

- Put a car and the figures of age 6 michael and michael's parents

- Take pictures and upload them here. :)

Give me a week or two.

For the figures, I am going to try and dig up a couple of my action figures in my basement that resemble michael and his parents, then repaint them. This is going to be the hardest part of the project and if I cant find any figures that will work i might have to scrap the idea.

I am doing the 63 version. Specificly I am trying to recreate the scene where michael's parents discover him.

Good idea.
I ended up getting two, as I got one as an unexpected gift and another that I bought myself. Unfortunately, I opened the one I bought first and the Loomis figure in mine has chipped paint on the point of his nose...

The other box includes a perfect Loomis, but a messed up Myers. I guess I'll just open it up as well, take the switch the Loomis figures and probably porches and then I'll be good.

I will post more photos when i complete the landscaping!!!

Whoa yeager, that looks great.

To be brutally honest, I wasn't a big fan of your first Myers house but the other Haddonfield models were great.

This one looks fantastic. Great job, man. Back when I started this thread, I was in a model-making mood and I found several model houses that could easily be redone to look like the Myers house.

Now that I see it can be done and to good execution at that, I might just have to get after my own model.

:yar:  :p

Make sure to get some nice bushes, and some leaves!!

You know what would make the house look even better? Add the broken gutter and window! It seems like everyone leaves this detail out of the Myers house.

Add the gutter!!

:yar: :p

MrTaft
04-24-2006, 06:11 PM
Yeah, but it seems most people make 1963 versions of the house where it's nice and neat. I agree though that if Stan is making a post-1963 house, the gutter and broken windows should be there.

MyersFan927

Where did you find the parts to make the porch? Particularly the rounded things at the top of the second to last picture. I'd make a house of my own, but the materials are costly.

But the old, broken down house is the Myers house! Not some shined up wallpapered average home!!

You mean the porch supports? If so, those are from the NECA Myers and Loomis boxed set, but I'm assuming you know that...so I don't know what to say otherwise.

Hay All,
The house is getting way BIG!!! Did the landscaping today and i am thinking about a way to make it go from 1963 to1978 with a few quick changes.....need to put a backdground on it aswell.
The inside is going to be the hardest to do..

If your making the 78' version, break a window and make a gutter. You can even by some special modeling "rust" from a hobby shop and coat the gutter with it.

Looks fantastic - are you going to shingle the roof and ledge?

EDIT: Leaves!! Don't forget the leaves!!

Simply awesome. You did a fantastic job, that is impressive work.

Can you take a picture of it from a miniature person's POV, right in front of the steps, looking all the way to the top of the house? I'd be interested to see that. It's kind of like your third pic, but closer to the house and more upwards of a view.

NECA's "Evolution of Evil" boxed set will come out later this year.

When it does, I am begging you to pick it up and use the 1963 Myers in the yard or your house. At least use the mask and put it on the floor in the house instead of your custom one.

That is phenominal. The only thing wrong is the Strode Realty sign should say "sold" on the top or something similar.

Make sure to put the gutter!!

This is so amazing.

Any chance you'll make em' for others? With a pricetag of course. I will pay just about anything for something like this.

Well, since the rest of the house appears to be in pristine 1963 condition, why would he add a broken gutter? That would be very out-of-place.

But in one of his posts he said he'll be changing from the 63' version to the 78' render, so I was assuming that this was the case for the most recent set of pictures.

EDIT: Rereading the post, he merely mentioned he's thinking of a way to be able to change from the 63' version to the 78' version easily, so as to being able to display both versions.

But, in that case, GUTTER!!!
