View Full Version : NECA 18 Myers

04-11-2005, 08:06 PM
Finally decided to open up NECA's 18 inch Michael Myers. I've had it in a closet for a while now and figure might as well put him on display. I must say it is very impressive on a shelf. Looks SOOO much better than the really crappy Sideshow 12" figure. The sound bits are cool too...playin' Carpenters creepy theme music.............Larry

Damn right.

The NECA 18" dolls are awesome. I owN Michael, Jason and Freddy. Jason I think is the cooler of the three. Real great quality.

I really love the detail on this one and I too prefer the look over the Sideshow 12" doll/figure. However, I am somewhat disappointed with the articulation as he is too stiff to really pose him without the thing sounding like it will break. Overall, I still love this one and consider it to be one of my favorite Halloween pieces in my collection. The NECA bust coming out with the light-up jack-o-lantern looks awesome as well. This company does a pretty good job for Halloween fans while Sideshow caters more to Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street fans.

While the NECA Myers rocks....I still think that McFarlane's 18in Myers stole the show--at least in the area of the mask sculpting. I have both editions, and I'm no less happy to have one over the other, though :)

On the other hand, I haven't and never intend to add the Sideshow Myers to my collection. Given their exact details for their Voorhees and Kruegers...Myers kind of got pushed to the back burner. An "emotionless" mask was transposed into a frowning, featureless "thug in a white mask". I can only hope that Sideshow has another go at Myers, maybe a new sculpt of the H1 mask...or even better, an H2 sculpt.

Here is a pic for you all Myers fiends...........

I have the Michael and Freddy one's also, they are very cool and the sound it comes with is suprisingly clear and on the mark.

I saw the Pinhead one for sale last weekend, I may buy it. By the way, I had no idea McFarlane Toys made an 18 inch Myers. I thought for some reason it was smaller.

Yeah, mc farlanes made both a 18" and 12 " verison. Both very good action figures.

But i would say the NECA is better. The detail on the mask and everything is done very well.

I really like the Jason one because the mask comes off (like the Sideshow ones) but I am not sure if I will get it because when it comes to Freddy & Jason, I prefer Sideshow. I agree with Myers63 that Sideshow should take another stab :D at trying to do a more fitting Myers because even though McFarlane has gotten most of their HalloweeN stuff right on the mark, I still prefer the collectibles over at Sideshow.

Nice collection!

The Jason Lives Jason looks awesome. I should have bought that, but never found the time or the actual want for it. Now that I've seen it out of the package, it looks even better.

You can still score the Jason figure on Ebay for a good price. Even the "exclusive" version with the severed arm. The first Jason figure from part 3 from Sideshow has skyrocketed in price for some reason....goes for over $200 bucks most times.........Larry

I thought that knife in Jason's utility belt was a flash light.

Nice collection.

Awesome pics larry, thanks for sharing :)

I really want the Part VII Jason that will be available sometime soon and I definitely want to find Pamela as well. I seriously wish I had bought the Jason from Part III awhile back because I love that one but I refuse to pay that absurd cost these days. The Part VI one looks pretty sweet as well and I almost bought him but I have decided to wait for the Part VII version.

As for my small Sideshow collection so far (Myers, Ash, Robert Englund/Freddy), my most favorite is a toss-up between Robert Englund/non-burn Freddy Kruger and Ash from Army of Darkness. What is everyone's most favorite figure here out of NECA & Sideshow?

The 18" Freddy and Michael i have are my favorite just for the sound and music it comes with. Freddy is cool with the interchangable heads.
