Aliens is the masterpiece of the series to me. i really like the original as well, 3 and resurrection being great movies also but not as good as the first two.
i really like the Cameron feel to the second movie, Michael Biehn (aka Hicks) is the single coolest character of the series and i really love the look of the hive in Aliens. its always been my favorite to watch over and over, its easy to get into cause Ripley already knows of the aliens as where didnt in the original, making the tempo of the movie a little slower.
havent seen AvsP yet, but it looks good

I voted Alien3.
I dont see what people like about Hicks. He was good looking and all but other than that I didnt think he was so good. He stood out the least in that movie.
AvP is pretty bad I wouldnt waste your time seeing it.

Aliens for me, Cameron was at his high point with this and Terminator 2 if you ask me.

I voted for "Alien."
<--- See, it's my favorite "scary" movie besides a Halloween movie. I love Aliens too. One of the best sequels ever made. They are both so classic, so compelling, and sometimes really scary.
Alien 3 was a good movie and Resurrection and AVP were just cool! The Aliens look great in those movies (excluding the CGI).

Original and best ;)
Although, the second one comes in very close...
I still prefer Sigourney in the epic Ghostbusters though...

I went to see AvP last night, and i officially want to destroy Paul W.S Anderson. It was utterly fucking dreadful, there were a couple of cool bits but anyything this movie had going for it was screwed by terrible dialogue and a fuckin retarded team up. And to think that the little shit has signed up for the next Aliens film. I hate 20th Century Fox, money grabbing fuck holes.

yay for Alien3 love!
btw was anyone else glad they killed Newt and Hicks? I dont see how they could have made an Alien3 with them at all. I'll never understand Hicks appeal to Aliens fans. He just rode Ripley's coattails throughout Aliens and then was incopasitated (spelling?) at the end. Big hero he is, eh?
Ripley rocks. nuff said.

more importantly, which movie did Sigourney have the worst hair in?
I think her hair looked ridiculous in Aliens. And the wig she wore in Alien3 to look like the Aliens hair was even worse.

while i enjoy alien 3, i think killing off hicks and newt was disappointing. they were strong characters and played very well by michael biehn and carrie henn. plus it was the most intense movie in the series. it had my stomach in knots the whole time. and lets not forget it earned sigourney weaver her first oscar nomination. i'm certainly not going to judge a movie by ripley's hair cut.

Alien III - Yes, you read it right and no, I am not joking. I don't know why people hate it so much. I think it's cool. I actually don't care for Alien or Aliens. The movies are too slow for me.

I'll just copy and paste on here.
I am very suprised to know that many people thinks the aliens became exinct in part 2 and later there were clones. The eggs were found on the ship which is obvious that it wasnt their home planet but the ship has been there. Having a facehugger on the ship and not knowing about it. The facehugger attacks him and he crashes on the planet which became known as LV-426, or if that was just the colony's number.
So there has to be a new Aliens film going to their home planet. I have the comics Aliens Genocide and its about the military, scientists, and company officials landing on their planet. I'll stop there. Its an awesome set of 4 volumes of Aliens Genocide.
The colony's name was in fact LV-426. The aliens were "natural" until the godawful Alien:Resurrection, when they used the DNA from the alien that Ripley had inside of her to create more aliens. Which explains all of the f'ed up clone failures in the labratory near the end of the film. But man, do I ever hate that film....
Yep, Aliens will always remain the greatest film of all time in my book....*sigh*, my all-time favorite flick.
ALIEN-*****
ALIENS-*****
ALIEN3-***
ALIEN RES-**
If i really have to choose 1 as my favorite, then i would choose ALIEN over
ALIENS but it's a close call. They're both classics.

I just noticed that I didn't actually say which movie I like the best in my initial post. I agree with Aldo's rankings, but I give the slight edge of Aliens over Alien. It's interesting that Alien 3 seemed to go back to what worked in the first Alien and then Alien 4 tried to duplicate Aliens. I just feel that the first 2 are much better than the second two.
Aliens ****
Alien****
Alien 3 ***
Alien Resurrection **
