I'll add, have you seen Ghosts of Mars or any of John's shitty movies? Just becuase one made Halloween, and the other made A Nightmare on Elm Street doesnt mean they have what it takes to make an ultimate Halloween movie. There's really no chance with all the storyline problems.

I kinda think Cravens lost his touch, and John Carpenters last good film was The Thing.

But it would still be interesting.:)

I still have faith in them... I cant think of any horror-themed film that Carpenter hasnt perfected although he seems to have recently fallen in love with sci-fi again... which is hit and miss. Craven hasnt really done well horror-wise since Scream and thats nearly a decade ago (fuck, time flies). I read somewhere that the studio fucked up Cursed and I'll take his word for it.

I'm sure if they were to team up (they are friends) and manage to create something completely original; we'd be mucho happy as horror fans.

I dont know Wes's best movie, to me is NOES. Im not really a fan of anything else. As far as Carpenter goes I also agree that he has lost his touch. Id def like him to do the final Halloween. Im sure it would be awsome.

Agreed! :)

Aside frome Escape From New York, there are no other Carpenter films that I can watch and re-watch as I can HalloweeN. As far as Carpenter writing the final Myers Halloween, that'd rock! :D

I agree with this^^^

If those two ever came together for a movie it would either.

A. be put on hold because of creative differences

B. Dismantled because of creative differences

C. Be a piece of crap because of creative differences.

D. Either Wes or John would walk off the set leaving the other to finish due to creative differnces.

Craven would never would work with Carpenter. I get the feeling he doesn't really care for Carpenter or Halloween from a few comments he's made.

I don't think John should do another Halloween. It's just the fact that he doesn't believe that there is anymore story to be told and if he believes that, then he would not be capable of writing a really good sequel for the franchise. It may just be a drop in the bucket like the last film. Something new or something old would be nice.

Those two working together would be very interesting. I can see it happening.

As for best films, I honestly have yet to see a Carpenter film that I did not like. His last one, Ghosts of Mars, was really fun and it definately gave me my money's worth. Just cause it bombed in theaters doesn't mean it sucks. I mean, again, look at The Thing. It bombed in theaters, yet today it is considered one of the best horrror films out there and a cult classic. I believe Ghosts of Mars will be the same way someday down the line: Not appreciated upon release, but respected later on.

As for Wes, I don't think he's lost much of his edge. Cursed was good, yet flawed, but the studios have to answer for that. They didn't, and made Wes look like a complete fool. Also, let's not forget Project Greenlight. Again, it was a great idea to have Wes produce, but he flat out said he didn't care for the script and the movie itself. So if anyone's to blame for Wes' faliure in recent years, it's the studios, not Wes Craven.

Like I've said about Carpenter, I'll say about Craven: If allowed to do films his own way, they would be very good. His next film (I can't remember what the name is) looks good, although it's not a horror film in the general sense and I will be seeing it.

Mark, where did you hear that Craven didn't care for Carpenter? I've never heard that. On that special that aired back in October on Sci Fi, it sounded like Craven had a lot of respect for Carpenter.

Perhaps Craven has come around since saying that and respects Carpenter more now then he did when he said those comments. Eh, I don't know.

As for those two working together, I would gladly see a Carpenter/Craven get together, just as long as they were allowed to do it their way and not have the studio looking over their shoulder the whole time. I'd also like to see them go back to their indie and low budget roots, because their best films seemed to have come from those time periods.

Yes, and again, I enjoyed it. It wasn't the same as Escape From New York, which I expected. It was different, other than the same "go into the prison, retrieve the item, and try to get the hell outta there" plot. It also contained a lot more humor, which I felt was a good turn around from the bleak, apocalyptic feel of the first film.

I will try and find some old mags that have some of Cravens comments. I know one was around the release of the first Scream movie. There was a lot of talk of Kevin Williamson and his homages to Halloween. Craven basically downed played it saying that both Carpenter and Halloween were nothing special.

I think even in the H20 documentary Craven had something to say about Halloween. I can't be sure though it's been a while since I watched it.

Hm, I'll pop in the H20 DVD and check it out.

Like I said I don't think there was much on the DVD but you can see a little bit of his attitude towards Halloween with his one comment.
