I was just sitting here and started to think about what the world would be like without Halloweenmovies. If you look at it there would be no friday the 13th, nightmare on elm street, scream, and ect. Jamie lee curtis, Danile Harris, josh hart and other wound not be as famous as they are. So how do you think the world would be effected if their was no halloween movies.

I think the world would go on and everything would be the exact same. Jamie Lee would still make her break in acting, Josh would still star in Blow-dryed and 40 Days and 40 Nights. Danielle would still be in Dont Tell Mom the Babysitter is Dead and still be virtually unknown. Friday the 13th would still be made(maybe not in 1980, but later down the line) as with Nightmare On Elm Street.

Everything would be the same, except for dates and times and places. But the same things would still end up happening.

a world without Halloween...(almost breaks down and cries)..oh, sorry...LOL :D...yea like boogeyman87 said, all the other movies would still have probably come out just at different times...and actors like Jamie Lee (who have talent) would have found another way to make their big break...but i would hate to think about that world though...i mean...we wouldn't be here :(

Actually, there's no guarantee that without the halloween series all these celebrities mentioned would still have been discovered. There's no way to really know for certain one way or another, but it's entirely possible that without the Halloween series, we wouldn't know much about Jamie Lee Curits, Josh Hartnett, Danielle Harris, or any of the people mentioned.

True, but thats just relieing to much on the series. Like Halloween is this mega-movie with God-like powers that changed the face of the earth. Its a good movie and all, but I think it doesnt hold as much power as one would like. But , yes, Todd I'll agree that there is no guarantee that they would of been discovered. I just think they would of because Halloween (and its sequels) is just another movie franchise in the business.:)

If there was no Halloween we wouldn't know the difference. Friday and Nightmare wouldn't have been made, and probably lots of other movies too.

Movies like True Lies, Trading Places, Freaky Friday, and Christmas with the Kranks wouldn't have been as good.

JLC would have probably been in another horror movie that would have tried to profit from her mom, Janet Leigh being in Psycho, and maybe even have both her and mom....which i understand Carpenter wanted JL so they could have poster that read Like Mother Like Daughter.... Maybe JLC would not be scream queen and not as big a star as she is. DP may not have been connected to an awesome horror franchise and would have JUST been a character actor. As I understand it Nancy Stephens (Marion) would not have met H2 director RR and married him. John C. and D.Hill would have had good careers, but maybe not as successful as they turned out to be. Good or bad 80's horror movies wouldn't be what they were without Halloween. Anyway.....

"A world without Halloween"....

Would be a world without modern horror.

Well, ok...not exactly - but seriously it would be different.
Halloween has generated SO much popularity from the simply film that it was back in 1978.

A huge fan base for a movie that would later boast numerous sequels and endless knockoffs.

It redefined horror.

Bollocks I think its stretching it a bit but if Chuck D says he's right then I'll bid adu. I cherish Friday the 13th more than Halloween anyways.

A world without Halloween eh.....

-Obviously no sequels
-Paramount wouldn't have taken the chance on Friday the 13th and if it was made it would be much much different than it is today.
-Nightmare still would have been made. Wes had no intentions of basing the movie off of the other slashers.
-At least like 50 of the corny slasher flicks of the early 80's wouldn't have been made.
-Jamie Lee would not have become such a huge star, she still might have made it, but not nearly as big.
-Carpenter might still be making small indie projects.
-We wouldn't be here.
-80's culture would be a bit different.
-No Scream or mid to late 90's surge of horror.

...Yeah things would be quite different contrary to what some of you may think. Sure TCM and BC came out before, but studios didn't realize the power that horror held at the box office until Halloween was made. And one last time, Friday the 13th would not have been made the same way it is or maybe not at all.

I dont know. I just think some of you are giving Halloween too much credit. Maybe I'm giving it less credit than it deserves but I just think that it was a good movie that helped the industry along. Not this mega entity thats drastically changed things...

Halloween changed the face of Horror! No doubt about that.
Without it things would be different with Horror movies for sure. For instance we would all still be here but the place would be
Leprechaunmovies.com.

Don't think so? Well, we will never know for sure:p

I think Halloween is a great film and did somewhat have an impact on the movie industry. But to me it seems that some people are thinking its the Star Wars of Horror movies, I am not to sure about that. I think the first and second ones were pretty good, but no real advances in film were derived from the films. Same with the Friday movies - I think they made a lot of money because people enjoyed the frights it brought. I think of all horror movies that really brought a lot of attention to the horror genre where NOES and Scream - very mainstream movies attracting a huge audience.

But like I said don't get me wrong, Halloween had a big impact on the "sequels", it started it all. The only other horror type movie I think that had sequels before it was Jaws and I might be wrong.

I agree.
You said it all - I also think Jaws was somewhat of an impacting film as well.

Jaws scared people without even seeing a shark - it hit the primal fear of all people - being eaten alive, in the water which is a sure possibility, not fantasy.

I don't know about that Beau,Halloween wouldn't excist.I think that is just taking it abit too far.Maybe it wasn't as popular back then but i'm pretty sure kids would still have got dressed up.I mean it's not as if people didn't know what Halloween was.

As for a world without Halloween. As already mentioned we wouldn't be here speaking to each other on the board.

I personally still think that there would have been a Friday the 13th movie.

Remember the movie "Black Christmas" was out before "Halloween".That movie had a stalker & murders being commited in it. While it is no Halloween it's pretty possible it could have given other Horror movies that followed some ideas.
