I know that many Halloween movies frequently appear on TV so this is a thread to let the members of the UHMB know in advance w/o cluttering the board w/ 80 million threads for one night of halloween movies!

So go on ahead and post them!

MonsterFest this year will have a HalloweeN marathon, but will it really be all eight films? If anyone knows for sure, let me know. Thanks.

They can't play all 8 of them. They'll probably play 2 through 5 like always. A ton of times.

I was hoping that it would be different this time around. If that's it, than why would they bother calling it a marathon? It wasn't a marathon last year. Halloween2-5 I wouldn't consider a marathon. I would call it a mini-marathon. Ahh, I'm just bitchin because I want more Halloween.

Actually I think it's a total shame that they can't show the original. They could do the back story, then follow it with the immortal classic. Then procede with 2-5 a ton of times! I'm keeping an eye on amctv.com to see when they do over there site in honor of monsterfest.

I'm also going to keep a close eye on UPN throughout October in the slight chance that they air the halloween 6 tv cut.

According to AMC's October schedule, it looks like Halloween 4 and Halloween 5 are the only two Halloween films they're showing for MonsterFest this year.

I think the main reason why they didn't show this was because Michael gets his head chopped off (well you know what i mean) & that was the way Ken Biggley was killed by his kidnappers.

I emailed the UPN network asking if they were planning to air the special UPN TV Version of H6 this year and they replied that it's not in their schedule. That's a shame, because even though it makes a rare appearance, it would have been great to air on TV. My copy is rather bad. For those of you who didn't know, the UPN television cut is the theatrical cut trimmed up with a few producer's cut scenes. I really like it.

It seems like they should be showing more horror movies, especially HalloweeN, this month. I don't know it seems they are just neglecting it, this year. Maybe when in a week in a half or so when the last 10 or 13 days draw close they'll start em up full force. I really hope so, HalloweeN is my favorite season for TV!!!

I remember back in like 2000 I saw Halloween 6 on UPN & they called it "Halloween 4: The Revenge of Michael Myers"! I also remember seeing some P-Cut scenes in there & thinking "I don't remember this!", at the time I had only seen H6 like once & I didn't own it because I was 10, but I still knew the title was incorrect, because I rented H4 all the time.

Will "Halloween" and "Halloween: H20" be on FX this year? I know AMC has Halloween 4 and 5, but I don't see the original Halloween or Halloween H20 on this year. That's odd. Halloween and Halloween II have been on every year without fail. I hope the original Halloween will be on this year, and when I went to archived film series news at halloweenmovies.com -- there weren't any current listings in the "Halloween on TV" box. Halloween the TV Cut will be airing on USA Network again! 9AM and again at 3 pm est. I checked on tv-now.com under Jamie lee curtis and found out that it was gonna air. As far as I know, H20 is not airing anytime soon. H2 is gonna air on SciFi,though not AMC in case you're interested.

HR probably won't hit network TV anytime soon.

It didn't do great at the box office which means that isn't a movie to hit network TV in the first 5 years. Unless Sci-Fi shows it. Hey it shows Thirteen Ghost all the time which was made in the last 5 years I believe. Other than that I doubt it.

Gerry, the Halloween AMC Backstory airs on the AMC network in the U.S. It is a one-hour documentary with a behind-the-film close-up of H1. Nothing special; other documentaries show basically the same material. Toward the end of the backstory, the sequels and knock-offs are briefly mentioned.

Just wanted to bump this thread up to remind everyone that USA is airing HalloweeN 2 different times tomorrow. In the past they have in fact shown the tv cut, so i'm assuming they will continue with that tradition this year. It's been several years since they've shown the film and I'm looking forward to getting a good dub of the H1 tv cut.

lol It's a wonder usa still shows the H1 tv cut, because it cuts down the violence like crazy. I think the H2 tv cut lets more slide than this does lol. When Michael goes to kill Annie, it shows him choking her for about 3 seconds and then quickly cuts inside to Laurie and Tommy. I also like how the halloween theme continues playing while michael (pov) moves toward the myers house to look in at judith.

On the UHMB he once wrote down a long list of differences between the theatrical and television versions. It's amazing how much he noticed. Most of them are subtle differences, but they were still interesting to know.

This great getting a nice back to back showing of H1 and H2 from sci fi! Just a note, according to board member Ashleigh, Sci fi airs the television cut of the original halloween.

lol, I read those other posts wrong. I see there anything, but back to back. H2 doesn't come on 'till 3:00 a.m.

However, the tv cut has so many other minor differences outside of the long extra scenes, making it much different from the extended dvd.

One thing to note is how heavily horror movies were edited for tv back then. Even halloween gets it's violence edited to hell.

But I watched and recorded H3 again tonight to catch how many cuts there would be and yes, there was a couple.
Nothing drastic.
I liked the voice over at the end credits, "Well im sure you will all sleep well after that". HAHA!!!

I have about 5 copies of Halloween 3 on video as i collect the different box covers (im sad like that) and some do vary in what they show and dont show, but the beeb were pretty kind tonight.

Now, when well Halloween 2 be on?

As soon as i can get my cam working i will post some pics if you want. Cheers for the interest lol

I have Four videos with covers and two that i have recorded from BBC1, the latest shown the other night, the other was in the late 80s or very early 90s.

Plus i have the dvd that was in the Halloween collection complilation that includes the commentary by some horror critics and i just brought a seperate DVD so it has the cover on ebay.

To be honest, there are very minimal differences but they are there on the film , and i have always loved the cover art of the early Halloween films.

All i need is that damn Halloween 3 trailer!!!

Plus, this probably should be on a H2 board, but is the TV version the only other Halloween 2 cut? I am almost positive i watched a different version in the early 80s. I have the TV cut and the original and pre cert, but im certain i saw Dr Mixter a lot more, something to do wiht a fish tank and a shower and you saw Myers kill him.

Any help is well recieved!

I was thinking the same thing. H4 is at least #3 outta the 8 in my book, he's in for a big disappointment for the rest though. But then again there have been people who put resurrection at the top of their lists too.

I've said many times and truly believe that you need to watch the films several times to really get a concrete ranking of them. I know back when I was a casual fan my film ranking would have been waaaay different from what was and is once I really got into the series.

Some of the biggest Resurrection haters on this board have admitted to thinking the film was pretty decent after the first time they watched it. Which further proves my theory :).

Oops, looks like I just did. Thats not what the fans wanted. The fans loved Michael, the fans loved Loomis and they wanted to see them, bottom line. It's easy to look back 20 years later and say "they should have done this or they should have done that". At the time thats what the fans wanted and it still holds true today. The series is so limited with just Halloweens 1 and 2. So little to discuss, collect, and watch.

There probably won't be anything impressive about the H:R airing on cable. At least not anything aside from the regular and Homecoming versions as far as scenes go. What else could there be? But I will probably still tape this, just to have a taped TV airing in my video collection.

Speaking of TV listings/ratings, they describe him as Mike for 4 and 5 - been doing it for years, actually. Why the hell do they call him that? lol.. "Killer Mike". Every sequel has gotten one star in the TV guide, aside from the possibility of H20. Not so sure about that one.

So if you can, hurry and get your TV's ready...its 11:43 right now and I will be watching them when they start showing. I could always just pop in my VHS and DVD films....but I'm too lazy so I'll just go ahead and wait.

Wow, three times already!! man, my back aches just hearing about it ;) The thing I didn't want to miss in the ads for it during the commercials prior to the movie starting.

I really liked what they did with the H20 when it aired on FX.

Well time to get the snow blower ready :(

I haven't shoveled once yet today. We only got like 5 inches and they in it stopped. I think it may pick up again tonight though. I wanted to go to wal-mart to get a pack of blank tapes to dub H8, H4, and H5. I drove right over the snow but got stuck at the end of the driveway so I had to dig that part out haha. The roads weren't the greatest either... all in the name of halloween I suppose.

I like these little "killer movie" promo's there showing too. Pretty cool mid-winter halloween marathon if you ask me.

Still got 15 minutes till Halloween 4 but the real joy will be seeing Resurrection. ;)

MyersFan75
01-22-2005, 04:15 PM
H5 is the current movie playing...
Its at the part around the farm area, Tina has already heard Jamie speak and I am estimating that right now Sammy is about to get splattered.

I wanna see H4 after Resurrection goes off....it's the only movie that will be showing that holds a strong interest, though I did watch some H5 a little bit. After this showing of H5, it will tune to Resurrection and then H4 and H5 and Resurrection once more followed by H4 one MORE time!!

It's a night filled with Halloween, kind of cool...yet I wish they would give H4-H5 a break and show H20 and H6. I know it depends on the network however, it seems AMC always shows H4 and H5, while FX may show H20, the Sci-Fi channel and TNT usually show H1,H2, and H3 throughout the day around Halloween day...which is a nice break from AMC's routine line-up.

However, apparently AMC is adding the crapfest that is Resurrection.

AMC=American Movie CLASSICS??!!
Now, I can unsterstand them showing H4 and possibly H5, but Resurrection?? Uh..no, thank you.
The same thing happens when they show Jaws:The Revenge late on Friday and Saturday nights. The original Jaws IS a classic, but uh...The Revenge is HORRIBLE.

AMC=American Movie Crap.

Ahh, I see now what you are saying. I treasure my little Halloween montages I got from Monsterfest, they are truly awesome to have on tape. If I had a computer with a video card that has a tv-in/out connector I'd try to transfer them so I could preserve them on a better format. Good-luck with the snow blower!

Wow, you attempted to drive in this madness? Now that's some Halloween fan commitment right there! :D
It may sound odd but I find myself watching my taped Halloween 2 TV cut from AMC more often than the actual film. There's just something special about seeing Mrs. Elrod scream at a misplaced still frame of Myers!
I know the editing for Resurrection will undoubtedly be just as entertaining. I'm wondering how they are going to edit that scene with Donna giving the finger to Jim after he asks her what time her legs open. Maybe we'll see a still frame of her face then progress with Jim's line of "Is that one o'clock?". Haha!

I had to go about 30 mph the whole way, but wal-mart is less than 10 minutes from my house so no biggy. And yes I treasure my H2 tv cut. I only have it taped once so I have to keep it in good condition, especially since there's no indication that AMC still has the showing rights to the movie.

And in the Midwest. It snowed all night last night. I got home from drivng around in it last night, (And it was fun because NO ONE was out. Doing donuts rules too.) and i started shoveling at 1130 because we had already gotten 4 inches. Shoveled that and went to bed. Got up thismorning and we had another 5 or 6.

Big disapointment... besides, because I never even looked once to see what channel it was on, I thought it was airing on FX. They do much better job with the opening flashes.

No I doubt we'll see any additional footage, all they'll do is cut the scenes a bit and add more commercial time to make it up.

Nothing too abundant as alternate footage. I suppose it was interesting though. I'm too lazy to throw in the Resurrection DVD, but was the scene of them opening the trunk with the toys and coloring books in the movie? I'm prone to say no. And the Firebird scene was cool. I have to say that I liked Resurrection more on TV. Must have been the commercials that broke up the crap.

From the information posted, it seems pretty interesting. I'm almost sure the trunk and coloring books scene *was* in Resurrection, but I am by far not an expert on that movie - something tells me it is, though.

Anyway, I make killer TV cut DVD covers. If any of you get a copy on DVD, would you like me to email to you what I come up with? You can print it out and ... voila...

Yes the chest scene is in the special features. In fact, all of you special edition DVD makers out there, most (90%) of the material added to the film was from the already cut scenes, some dialogue chanes occur, and the film is cut differently, so in essence you technically don't need the VHS version to make the same/similar cut as the TV Cut. Though there was a few split second shots and different angles, but hell, through the nudity in there. The lack of cursing was refreshing, almost made it enjoyable without the mindless four word babbling.

No matter how many times I see Halloween on AMC I just can't turn away from it even though I hate that it's cropped in fullscreen, with no Dolby Digital and everything is edited. I just don't understand it. I have the same problem with Jaws whenever it comes on TNT/TBS during the summer.

I also have to admit that I really dug the H8 tv cut tonight. The movie still sucks, but still, this is the first time in so long that I've gone into something involving halloween not having seen it before. Granted it was the same film, but most of the added scenes were new to me.

The actual halloween tv cut is quite different from the theatrical version and i'm not just talking the newly inserted scenes. Not quite as weird as the H2 tv cut, but there are a lot of differences and all violence is edited. You'd think they were editing TCM or something. USA finally aired it this past halloween and it made a very rare sci fi appearance not too long ago.

Since the airing of resurrection, I now have the tv versions of all the films on tape. Excluding the H6 tv cut which I have on dvd (Thanks Mike :))
