View Full Version : 'Halloween', 'Friday', 'Nightmare'... which will end up with the most films?
Halloween-
so right now Halloween has 8 films. As we all know, Halloween 9 will happen (but when?) and Halloween 10 could be a possibility depending how good Halloween 9 performs at the box office. There is also a slight chance we see Michael in a "vs." film and if thats very successfull, there could also be a sequel.
Therefore, the Halloween series could end up with 12 films.
Friday The 13-
Theres 11 Jason films right now. There could be a Freddy vs. Jason sequel and a small chance of a trilogy. I also think there coulf be another "Friday" film.
So, by the end, Jason could end up with 14 films.
A Nightmare On Elm Street-
Theres 8 Freddy films. Like I said above, we could see a trilogy, plus we could also see a Nightmare sequel and prequel.
Freddy could possibily end up with 12 films.
I know this seems very far-fetched and highly unlikely but I'm just looking at it from every angle. Plus, we all know how far studios will go for $$.
So, which series do you see with the most films after its all set and done?

I think Friday The 13th will end up with the most sequel's. I mean, their's 11 now. It's going to be a long time before we see Halloween 11 (some IMDB, I think, came up with Ha11oween, or was it me?). Their also hasn't been an "offical" Freddy movie in 11 years. Seeing as Freddy Vs. Jason (even if it seems more "Nightmare On Elm Street" like), isn't a 100% Freddy movie, it isn't 100% a Jason movie either.
I think this thread would work better in the General Horror Classics forum. :)

definitely Friday the 13th, they made one a year in the 80's so they are way ahead and if they make anymore there will be no contest.

Friday the 13th has the most now, and it always will, 'cuz I don't know how many more of these films are gonna be made for these series..

I believe that Friday the 13th will have the most sequals since Jason seems to be the most favorite among the younger generation of horror fans. I really don't care when the Halloween series stops...especially if it continues to be on the same track as Resurrection. I say we take a break from Michael for at least one more Halloween and get something like an H3 type sequal going again. It would be refreshing and revive my faith in the series if done well. I just don't want to see another disaster happen for Myers. As for Freddy, I love the character but I am not so sure about the series really furthering itself. I am not too knowledgable on NOES but I would love to see Freddy out on the big screen again someday...just hopefully not as a remake...in fact, I hope none of them really have that fate. Then again, I would most likely go to the theatre if a remake was made for any of these, just so I could get mad about it.

Jason and the F13 series were all over the place in the 80's and since they have a three movie lead right now, I don't see Halloween catching up.

Hmmm, this is a hard question, because I don't have that much background info on Friday the 13th, but I think the Halloween series could go a long way, it all depends on the next movie for now
No dout it is going to be Friay the 13th, i mean it already has an extra 2 films in front of Halloween. I highly dout Halloween is going to be Friday the 13th Franchise in a number of Films in the series.

Probably Friday the 13th. It doesn't matter though because the Friday films are not as good as NOEM or Halloween. So the title of most movies doesn't mean anything except they made more.
Big deal.

Without a doubt, Friday the 13th.

Friday the Thirteenth.
Or, for New Line - I guess it's just the "Jason Movies"
Because for 3 Friday films they haven't even used the name "Friday the Thirteenth."
I can't see NOEM winning w/ only 8 films and an 11 year absence of sequels not couting FvJ, which I would categorize more into the NOEM series.
Then FT13 has always spit out sequels just for the fun of it - and already has a two up lead on both of the other series.
And w/ the shady rumors and extended wait for ANY official Halloween news, it's anyones guess to when H9 will actually be released. (If ever).
So my vote goes to the Friday The Thirteenth series.

I voted the F13 series because it already has the two other series beat with 10 films in total (not counting FvJ). Halloween has 8 and Nightmare has 7 (again not counting FvJ).
But I would love to see more Halloween sequels! Hopefully they keep making them.:)

I'm gonna go with the obvious here ... "F13". They've already got 11, and I think they're something that are cheap to make, and if they bomb, no one's out alot of money. I think they'll always be around in some shape or form. Plus no one's explored the possibilites of a remake down the road, and that spawning an even bigger slew of 'new' sequels, so I think "F13" will remain the "James Bond" of horror films.
I think "F13" will get around 15 total. I think "Halloween" will finish at 10. And I think "NOES" is already over.

I think Friday the 13th without a doubt will have the most. Halloween will have the second most because I don't think they will make any new Nightmare movies.

Id say it all comes down to halloween 9. If that is successfull than it could potentially spawn parts 10 and 11. While the Friday Series has no plans as of now to makemore sequals. PLus they kind of worked themselves into a small corner with the ending of Jason X. Halloween could potentially end up with the most films.

Although not officially announced, New Line is already been working on doing a "Friday The 13th Part 12", and returning it to Crystal Lake. They decided this, after the plans for "Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash" fell through, when Raimi wouldn't license Ash out to Shaye.

Well it'd be Friday The 13th Part XI, not XII cause FvJ wasn't part of the F13 series.
It's hard to say as of now because it depends on how well H9 does, it if does well then we'll have more but I've not heard anything on a new F13 movie. After H9 the F13 series will only have one movie over the Halloween series.

Technically, "Freddy vs. Jason", was both "A Nightmare on Elm Street 8" & "Friday The 13th Part 11".
They shared a sequel, but it's still a sequel for both franchises none the less.

Friday the 13th...Jason films have a head start on the others and if the old slashers hit a boom in the movie industry again, all 3 franchises will make films. If that happens, the other two won't ever get ahead.

I'd say Friday the 13th, but its not really saying anything...i mean friday the 13th keeps getting more and more ridiculous, but anyways i honestly think that these films could go on and on...i just hope that halloween 9 can make a come back!

I don't think there will be another ANOES, but possibly a FvJ sequel. As for HalloweeN, two more sequels are in store, maybe a third. So through my eyes ANOES is dead except for possibly two more FvJ films and two or three more HaloweeN sequels.
So:
ANOES- 8 films. (If you count FvJ), (Possibly nine or ten if you count one or two sequels)
F13- 11 films. (If you count FvJ), (Possibly 12 or 13 if you count one or two more sequels)
HalloweeN- 8 films. (And yes HalloweeN III is a Halloween film regardless if it has Michael Myers or not), (Possibly 10 or 11 films becuase we already know 9 is happening)
So most likely Friday the 13th.

Who knows what will come of Halloween's number 9. If it does eventually come out I think it will be the end of the series. I voted for Friday the 13th - arent they wanting to make 13 films?

pretty much...unless they make a sequel to New Nightmare...which is a vague minute possibility (which i highly doubt)
as for 22 halloweens...it isn't possible...we might get 2 more if we're lucky...if we are really lucky maybe 3...but that's pushin it
EDIT: and once again, it all depends on how well H9 goes

I think Halloween, the story line of the Halloweens seems more successfull, people are actually more scared of a man in a mask other than some dead guys, killing naked teenagers (michael doesnt kill that many naked people)

I say that Friday the 13th will have the most sequels. By 1990, they had eight F13 movies and 5 Halloweens and ? nightmares. I think F13 will have more.
If the Halloween series continues to go down hill, we may see a drop. Even since DP died, the series has slowly lost it's touch.

Friday the 13th easily. What can you say? The kids LOVE the man in the hockey mask. I love the guy too, but not as much as the love I have for Michael Myers? Oh crap, am I starting to sound like i have a thing for some movie serial killers? Oh well....

I know, I thought Jason X would've been a wake up call, but I was wrong. I still stand by earlier answer of Friday movies taking the cake because ANOES seems dead; whereas I'm not sure about the Halloween series. IF H9 does come out, then it will depend on its success. I really hope the Halloween franchise ends before 10, because extra sequels dont better the franchise, they ruin it.

Well as much as I'd like to see the Halloween series end I think it will probably have the most sequils although if you had asked me a few years ago I probably would have agreed with all of you who say Friday the 13th.

Friday the 13th obviously. There is one in the works that will be released this year and possible a couple of more and F vs. J 2.
Plus a remake is not far from the producer's and studio's minds.
Lots of fun on the way I can imagine. I can't wait.
And Halloween has 8 films with one more one the way. I believe it is still happening and will have a remake. It is a given. Not too thrilled really.
Nightmare has, like F13th, has F vs. J 2. I am greatly looking forward to that. Has a prequel in the works, maybe. And will probably be restarted(the franchise) or the franchise will continue. But maybe. I like the Nightmare series the most. Maybe more than the F13th franchise; which I adore and grew up with.
Bring on the new Friday(not another fucking Ice Cube one, but JASON!), maybe a remake, and most definitely FREDDY VS. JASON 2!

halloween 9, is said to be in the making, but a story line seems pretty wack to me. for years thay've jumped from Smith Grove to Haddonfield to Californ I A back to Haddonfield, introducing characters, getting rid of characters without giving a clear understanding or reason to it's viewers. what happened to Jamie, so did Michael Sex her and inpregnate her, what happened to the Baby "steven" huh? the whole franchise ended when the audience had to view the CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS 2-3 times to realize just who the hell was the chick in the begining.
Jason, i thought jason ended on "THE FINAL CHAPTER", wait didn't "JASON GO TO HELL", if he did how the hell did he end up in SPACE then, then end up on EARTH2 to be brought back to life in the epic match against FREDDY. they lost after he went to hell.
freddy didn't he, ROBERT ENGLAND suppose actually did in the movie within the movie within the movie in wes cravens "NEW NIGHTMARE".
