View Full Version : List of movie memorabilia for H1

03-27-2005, 01:24 PM
Just trying to get a list of what came out for H1 in the US only back in '78. I know of the one-sheet, the 45 radio spots, the ad sheets. There were b&w stills and no lobbies...is this everything? Any inserts, pressbooks, etc? Thanks, Larry

Forgot to mention that only stuff that Compass distributed for original release........Larry

Is this an original US release pressbook or foreign?

03-28-2005, 02:59 AM
That's the original US pressbook, Larry. There were only the items you mentioned, plus some trade ads in magazines and the trailers. No inserts or anything like that were made because it was such a low budget picture.

Thanks..I knew I could count on you. I recently scored this pressbook with the radio spots ads too....I swear you see one-sheets everyday on Ebay but the actual pressbook (not the ad slicks) is not easy to find................................Larry

You're the one who got it?! Lucky sod! That presskit is indeed a devil to find, and only the second one I've seen on eBay since 1999. You must have paid a fortune - it was getting very high on its first day of listing, from what I saw. Well done! I'm very jealous. :(

Ah, forgot to mention that three different versions of those radio ads exist. There's the one you have, and one with two longer ads on it. Then there's one with another two ads on it that was made for the 1980 re-release, which I own. ;)

I didn't know there was more than one kind of radio spots. I already have one and I will compare it to the one I receive with the pressbook...........So this pressbook is really that hard to find? I've been looking for one for over a year after I saw it on onegoodscare. The ad slicks (incorrectly listed as pressbooks) show up fairly regularly.

Here is the one I currently own...............

Yes, that's the other original one. You have both 1978 ones now, then.

I have the...(this is nothing compared to what I have total)
*8 color stills..SUPER RARE! Got these from Rodger Ebert, yes the Rodger Ebert. "Two Thumbs Up!"
*12 b/w still set in the Brown Bag
*16 b/w still shots not released with the original 12, Originals not the reprints flying around.
*The ORIGINAL 8x10 tansparency that they used to make the movie poster with. No Credits, just the artwork and you can see on the sides it being taped off. Got it from Bob Gleason about 2 years ago. I also got one from 'Halloween II' as well from him.

Hey Philo....care to share some pics of those color and b&w stills? We'd love to see 'em!

Yeah, where are the pics of the H2 stills as well?

I never said I would post pics of the 'Halloween II' stills. EVERYTIME I post pics, people use them, steal them, use them as aviators, post on websites as theirs. Last time I posted I got about 20 PM’s wanting stuff. Kid’s, god love’em.

PS, I just checked my PM, 13 messages.

Just watermark your photos with photoshop so idiots can't copy them...we just want to see them as collectors. I have no desire to steal anyones images...........................Larry

Plus if anyone wants to see anything mentioned that I have...let me know...I'll post it..........AND the original brown bag still set from H1 actually contains 14 stills...................Larry

Any chance you could repost the pics?

Any chance you could repost the pics?

I doubt they will. The last post before yours goes back nearly three years, and the OP hasn't been on the board since August.

Great stuff Larry.

Hey Larry. That stuff you have on post 22 is incredibly awesome. I'm truly amazed by the two-page spread saying what the gross was for Halloween over a one-month period. I get the impression this movie by the end of November played in no more than maybe 100 screens. They used to call them markets. I'm not sure if you got that from an industry magazine like the Hollywood reporter or variety, but I'm wondering hoping really that you can actually get us real good close-ups of those two pages. It is personally something I would really like to see. Knowing that the movie opened in limited distribution, and then it's my understanding that the Village Voice review(which is an actual review, and not a promotional blurb) just made this movie mushroom. It was a different time back then. Somebody asked me once how we felt when the movie didn't explode financially in the first two weeks, and though I didn't say anything at the time, I thought to myself what the fuck are you talking about. Back in 78 movie took time to build, movies didn't open in two or 3000 theaters and were either made or broken in the first weekend. This is that rare example of a movie, though probably not so rare that just grew up by word-of-mouth. Anyway thanks for posting these pictures. And is there any way you can get us some real good close-ups of the two-page with the gross on one side and the reviews on the other. I would personally appreciate it. And as some people on the board know I could add to your collection if you wanted it though you may not. So are those from the press kit or from an industry magazine? Either way thanks for posting them. If you wanted to PM me my mailbox is currently full and I'm lazy and it'll take me a little time to clear it out. Regardless though they are some of the best finds I've ever seen. What's inside the press book? And what's the blurb under the photo of Jamie Lee in the closet?

All my best

Hey Brian....I'll shoot some close-ups tomorrow and post them. The two page spread was from Variety magazine. I'll also try and shoot a better pic of that really early still with Jamie Lee. Here is a shot of the inside of the pressbook. Also are there are two pics of the British pressbook for Halloween 2 and lastly is a color flyer from waaaay back in 1982 advertising the upcoming Wizard Video Atari Halloween game....................Larry
