View Full Version : What is the best "stalking" moment?

All of the Halloween movies have some great moments. Some of those moments are similar, but what is your favorite?

Went with the best Myers stalking of all the series, when he is chasing Laurie across the street back to the Doyle house.

I liked the scene with Jamie climbing through the laundry shoot with Michael stabbing her in the calf. I voted for that one, but I also really liked H20's opening scene with Marion, Jimmy and the friend.
SonOSam
03-26-2005, 03:34 PM
Yeah, that scene w/ laundry shoot etc. was pretty awesome and well done. H5 had a lotta good moments. I think some of the day stuff hurts it and of course the goofy cops don't help. There were intense moments in H5. Maybe i should watch it more.

I love both the chase scenes with Laurie from H1 and H2, but the first one was more on the edge I think. It was just creepy.

I went with Laurie trying to get back to the Doyle House. It is creepy as hell. I love the laundry shoot scence though too as well as H2's stalking scences. Good thread SonOSam.

I love the scene when Laurie's trying to get back in Doyle house in H1. So that one gets my vote. Runner-up goes to Rachel & Jamie in the rooftop scene in H4.

None of the Above.
The Stalked of Annie in the original HalloweeN. The best stalking (in movies) is when the character doesn't see the stalker. That's what make these scenes so exciting and gut-wrenching from start to finish. First, she's on the phone, then he's outside through the window, then the laundry room, then finally the car. Freaky, riveting, and Annie doesn't see a thing.
SonOSam
03-26-2005, 05:55 PM
Well, I could have put best chase, but Michael does not chase. I could have put best follow as Michael sort of follows Laurie, but that would be stupid wouldn't it? Best "stalking" seems to work best. I could have put what is best "stalking" among these choices, but that was sort of the point of the thread....to choose one provided...or not I suppose and then discuss what you do like etc. Maybe there could be a best stalking part 2 thread.....
with more choices. I was gonna phrase it differently and include when Tom Atkins talks to "old lady" and discovers it is mechanical/robotic or when he punches man/robot and all orange gooey. I like H2's "moment" which also leads to Michael walking thru the hospital doors. Just cool.

I always like all the scenes while Laurie, Annie, and Linda are walking home from school.. Michael driving by and stopping, the hedge scene, and Michael in Laurie's backyard.

I went with "Laurie trying to get back in Doyle house:Halloween" but it was real close between that and the stalking scene in Halloween II. Both of those put me on the edge of my seat :D

The Laurie across the street was ok, but I preferred Jamie & Rachel on the roof in H4. More at risk there.

The original stalk, with Michael going acorss the street towards Laurie.
One not included in the poll that I love is the first 15 minutes or so of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, when The Shape is stalking Jamie and Baby Stephen. I mean... He follows her into the storm, then all the way to the bus station, all the way to the barn, and in the barn 'til he kills her! That rocked, and had one of the best kills of the series.

Laurie trying to get back in the Doyle house gets my vote. Her trying to get back in the hospital is a close second.

h1. Reason : Usually when Laurie saw Mike, then she turned then turned back again he was gone, then when he was stalkin her @ teh Doyle house, she turns the knob, and turns slightly around, Mike is still there. Made it real creepy there.
h5 with the laundry chute. damn i felt really bad for jamie then.

My favorite is Michael catching up to Laurie in H1. The stalking scene in H2 is a close runner up.

Best stalking moment has to be from HII.It's just the way he appears under the red light & the music starts up & Laurie is trying to get the attention of Loomis & Co in the hospital.

cheers You mean the part where she is laying in the parking lot trying to get the attention of Loomis and the woman and the cop when they are going into the hospital? The part where she is whispering " help me" and she keeps whispering until the door shuts and they go inside and then she finally yells at the top of her lungs" HELP ME"? That part?

I just watched H5 again recently. That is some pretty intense stuff at the end when Loomis tells Michael to "get the little girl..."
When I first saw that I thought he had really lost it and was maybe gonna let her be killed. The trap he set for Michael was preetty cool and looks awesome.

That was hard because theyre all good. I like 1 and 2 the best. I voted for Laurie running to the Doyle's house in H1 becuase its the orginal thriller. But H2 is very close behind IMO.

The Doyle house scene. Perfect.
Michael should have had her. If I were Laurie I think I would have kept running instead of leading Michael to the house where Tommy and Lindsay were. I would have ran my ass off and gotten as much distance between myself and him instead of leading him to the children and putting myself in a postion to be trapped. At least outside, he couldn't have cornered her.
I guess people who are scared shitless don't always think logically............

I voted for the Halloween 1 moment woth her crossing the street becasue the first time I saw that I actually yelped when Tommy was taking to long to get the door open

I picked the H-2 scene because Laurie's fear has reached its pinnicle. She is so desperate to get away from something she knows is an unstoppable force and to see the possibility of help, (Loomis, Nurse Marion and that dough-head Marshall) and not able to get to it brings her right to the edge of breaking.
MM shows his power as he steadily approaches the front doors and walks right through the glass as if it wasn't even there. Finally the way in which MM killed ol' dough-head Marshall whats his name and deliberatly shows Loomis and Laurie what is to come
All in all a very powerful and scary scene.

Yeah, especially when Michael catches the kid that nearly runs into him, and then seeing him walking alongside the chain-link fence. That's really cool.
For the poll I picked the one for H1. It's just one hurdle after another. The patio door won't open, the neighbors won't answer the door, Tommy walks to the front door...
All priceless moments! :D

Halloween II gets my vote. No matter how many times I've seen it, when laurie is trapped and climbs through the window in the hospital, I'm like RUN WOMAN!!! Make like a tree and split or leave or whatever?
I will say that when Michael is coming across the street to the Doyle house in 1 is close to, cause that man is on a mission!

I would say the first one with Laurie running from the house and into the Doyle house.
also the halloween five one with Michael stlking Jamie.

The one with Rachel & Jamie on roof.Funny as hell when Jamie gets hung up in the cable.Just flopping around.lmao.The original chase scene is more scary, but I also like a little comedy.

My favourite chase is definetly in H2 when shes running through the hospital corridor and michael is doing a slow ghostly walk after her that scene freaks me out, in my opinion its my favorite chase seen of all time. BTW the ressurection chase scene isnt on here.

Out of the list given, I chose the scene in H1 beause it was just so intense. You want Laurie to get inside, and at the same time you want to kill Tommy for taking his sweet-ass time.
Second would be the parking lot scene in H2, because it was slmost like the H1 scene, and the third one is the rooftop chase in H4. It was scary without Michael, and then to add him was a genious idea.
I don't know if this is a "stalking" moment, but my favourite of all is the pickup truck scene at the end of H4.

but its a gud job he walks

I went with the best, when Michael is chasing Laurie back t the doyle house!! because it is scary because it is tradition it plays a major part throughout the movies. he always is makeing his victims run to locked doors and they yell and pound on the door and beg with the door to open! Plus I love it ~!~

One stalking scene that doesn't get enough praise is the opening of H20. While most everything else that followed wasn't too good, the opening to H20 was really great. There was an actual sense of tension and fear during this part of the movie. It's too bad what followed didn't have that.

Agreed the original has a great stalking scene but how about H6 the curse of Michael Myers ?
There was some scary as hell stalking scenes in that film.
Myers in the hallway walking towards Tommy who was trying to open the door. Myers at the Bus station .
It would have to be LAURIE trying yo get back inside the DOYLE house. The
1st time i saw that scene my heart was pounding so hard and fast i was convinced he was going to get her. "TOMMY YOU LITTLE SHIT,HURRY THE FUCK UP!"

In y opinion Jamie had the best stalking scenes because she always seemed so frail and innocent and you always wanted to see her escape but this one takes the cake when she was stuck in the vent with him stabbing at it still get me nervous today and then the scene in the attic is awesome. I love H5 and this chase is one of the main reasons why.

One thing I really don't like about the latter movies is that the chase scenes at the end just aren't scary anymore. From H6 onward, I find them really boring (H20's was good, but screwed up with generic scream music!!!), and that is supposed to be the best part of the movie (for me anyway). I was watching HR the other day, and I couldn't find one reason to cheer for Sara at the end. Hopefully, HalloweeN '07 will bring back the kickass chases (and by the trailer, I think it will :D)

I voted for the chase scene in Halloween 6, because it was really the only time Michael appeared to be really pissed. I remember the first time I saw that scene in the theatres, back when I was like 11, and it had me on the edge of my seat. It was definitely the most intense "stalking" scene in the entire series. At least I think so anyway.

I think Laurie trying to get back to the Doyle house is the best "stalking" moment in the series. To me that whole section from the time Laurie enters the Wallace House and til the end of the movie is the whole series.
mcilroga
06-21-2007, 06:37 PM
Yeah, Laurie running back to the Doyle house is definitely the best stalking moment in the series (not to mention the best chase scene) because you felt sorry and identified with her which in turn made you terrified of the killer, Michael Myers. The whole sequence is extremely powerful, and one of the scariest scenes in a horror film I've ever seen.
My only grievance with it is that it doesn't show Myers get as close as I wanted to see him get. There were only three shots of him walking towards Laurie, and in the last shot of him doing so, he had just stepped onto the sidewalk curb of Laurie's side of the street, which was still many feet away from her. And what really gets me is that Tommy still doesn't answer the door for about another five seconds, and the camera lingers on Laurie. They should've shown another shot of Michael REALLY close to Laurie.
http://www.smiths-grove.us/images/films/dvd/h1thx/images/HALLOWEEN_SE6-38.jpg
See? There should have been one more shot of Michael Myers ON THE PORCH with Laurie, just a handgrab away, and then cue Tommy answering and her getting in safely. And I know this happened off-screen because the last five seconds that the camera focuses on Laurie panicking obviously had Myers nearing that close to her. The point being: I wanted to see him doing it. It would have made the scene even scarier.
Still a fucking incredible sequence though. But nothing truly horrified me more in the original than the one shot of Laurie walking across the street to the Wallace's, because of a lot of things, but mainly that music and the knowledge that she was in for it. And of course her ascending the stairs in the house before she finds her friends dead. The entire shot was very dark and Laurie's face and the stairs were undescriptive (purposely, of course). And something about it made me exclaim, "fuck, where the hell is Myers?!"
BoogeyMan88

Laurie's stalking scene in the original, especially the scene were the camera is below Myers as he is going down the stairs pretty quickly to chase her after she falls, that scene always spooked me.

Warlock is awesome but because of his slow, mildly robotic movement I think that chase became sort of absurd at some point.

I don't think the scene in H2 holds a candle to the original's because it is a complete rehash, and wasn't as suspenseful because everyone knew what was going to happen.

I think it worked for a while but there's a certain point in the film, and I'm not sure when, that it got kind of rediculous. Thus that chase only really had me going til about half way through. And just to be clear here I'm including from the time the chase begins in the hospital til she gets back.
