OFFICIAL Friday, May 13th 2005 OHMB Gathering in Blairstown, NJ Thread

Okay, over on the old UHMB, we tried to do this on Friday, August 13th, 2004. But, due to lack of time for people to coordinate their schedules, the fact that the camp itself was in session and wouldn't allow visitors, an impending hurricane/crappy weather, and that only 3 of us had actually confirmed that we would be able to make it, it didn't happen.

SO, let's try this again!

Come to Camp Crystal Lake with us on Friday The 13th in May of 2005!

That's right, we'll be visiting Camp Nobebosco and other sites in the Blairstown, New Jersey area where the original Friday The 13th was filmed! This time around, the camp will NOT be in session yet and WILL allow visitors. All I need to do is email the owner again and confirm the date and number of visitors expected.

We'll start off the day by meeting at the Travel Centers Of America TruckStop/Country Pride Resturant just off of Interstate 80 NJ Exit 4A in Columbia, New Jersey around 9AM for some breakfast to get our strength up for the day ahead. Then we'll be heading over to the Moravian Cemetery in Hope, NJ where we saw Enis drop Annie off in front of. Then it's over to a few streets in Blairstown where we saw Annie walking along in the beginning of the film. Then it's over to the Blairstown Diner (where Steve had his last meal before Mrs. Voorhees killed him) for lunch. THEN, it's off to "Camp Blood" itself, Camp Nobebosco. Of course, we'll be taking pictures of EVERYTHING.

Later on, for those who want to spend the evening in the area for some fun, we'll head over to Augie's Hidden Valley Inn Italian Family Resturant & Sports Bar for what will be my final appearance at karaoke on the east coast, because I'll be moving out to Las Vagas about 2 weeks later.

For those who DO wish to spend the day AND NIGHT in the area, your best bet would be to reserve a room at the very same TruckStop that we'll be meeting at in the morning. DayStop/Knight's Inn in Columbia, NJ (908)-496-4124 I work at that TruckStop and can honestly say that the motel is not that bad. It's no Hilton, but it's quite safer than the Bates' ;) :p

Also, when I get to talk to the Camp's owner again, I'm gonna see if it would be possible for us to actually rent a few of the cabins for the night, IF POSSIBLE.

So, who all is going to clear their schedule to come out with us? I'll need a confirmed body count, erm, I mean guest list ;) by March.

I actually went to the camp last Sept, but the old guy who runs the site ran me off. If you plan on going, it would help alot if you, or someone you know, is a boyscout---he was telling me that only boyscouts are allowed on the property and you maybe able to get some prior approval to go on the property...becauase if you dont, the guy is a real SOB. I did manage to make off with a rock from the site and pictures to go with my horror collection...oh, and there are alot of bears in the woods as well as I found this out firsthand... :-P

I already spoke with him via email before. I'm just waiting for him to get back to me about THIS time around. Considering it's still pretty far away, I don't think I'll hear from him anytime before X-Mas. But when he emailed me back before, he suggested that I look into rescheduling our visit for September when the Camp was not in session, which means that he's willing to accomodate us since I *ASKED* instead of just showing up there uninvited.

No, the Camp is not open in May, I was referring to the email he sent me when I asked him about us visiting this past August when I said he suggested that I reschedule it for September. And I already said that I was going to ask him about renting a cabin. And I did in the email I sent him last week. Just waiting to hear back from him....

Yes, but that was because the Camp was in session. It won't be in May. And the last email I got from the owner didn't say that we could NEVER visit, just NOT while it was in session. He even suggested that I try and set something up for the following month(which would've been September 2004) after the camp was closed. So, I kindof get the feeling that we'll be able to get in. Plus the fact that I'll be playing the sympathy card for all it's worth from the medical shit I've gone through over the last 3 years :p

I too am left out of the loop. I love CA, but it sucks for gatherings and most conventions. Someday, I shall have tons o' $$ but I won't hold my breath before then. I will just pray for another Halloween convention to happen eventually. Either that or just hope something comes a little closer to CA. I could definitely manage Arizona, Utah...places like that. Oh well, til then, I just love reading the stories and just pretend I went. Without the great stories and pics...I'd really be bummed.

Okay folks, I know it's only March, but since the cancelations are already starting to pile up, I think it'd be best for us to reschedule this for sometime in 2006. As well, I still haven't heard back from the owner of the camp regarding this, so rather than sending a bunch of desperate emails to him trying to get this set up in a rush and making him feel like something is not legit with us, I'll take a look at the calendar and figure out a decent weather Friday The 13th date in 2006 when the camp is not in session for us to visit and make it all 100% legit with the owner. And this will give everyone who does want to go more than enough time to save some money, make the plans they need to make it and lock it down in the schedules.

So, EVERYONE who has an interest in going, start saving your spare change, talk to others who want to go and make it a road-trip deal, and get ready to mark it down on your calendars. 2006

Well the camp was always up in the air but we still could go and walk around town, I myself would like to get some pictures of the town shots that were in the movie PLUS it'd be cool to meet some of youz, we could always grab a beer somewhere too. Eh..something to think about.

Thats what i was thinking, those of us who live locally dont HAVE to go on Friday the 13th we could go anytime and just hang out...i just can't do it the week of May 8th through the 14th VEGAS BABY VEGAS!!!!! any other time though count me in!

Basically, it'd be a few hours walking/driving around Blairstown taking pics & what-not, having some lunch at the Blairstown Diner(which will be finished with it's renovations by then, and probably won't look quite the same), and then going out to catch a movie and some dinner and drinks somewhere with atmosphere. Sound good?

Okay, so who all is gonna be showing up?

Here's the deal kids, we meet up at the TravelCenters Of America TruckStop/Country Pride Resturant/DayStop Inn/Pizza Hut/Taco Bell parking lot off of Interstate 80 exit 4A in Columbia, New Jersey around Noon-ish. Once we've all gotten there, we'll head over to the Blairstown Diner for some lunch(about 1 hour) and then walk around the main streets where we saw Annie walking around in the beginning of the film. Then we'll head over to the Moravian Cemetery in Hope, N.J.(where we saw Enis drop Annie off in front of). After that, it's up to whim.

We would have liked to, but we are going to go to the

My wife and I opted to go to Monster Mania instead seeing as how we could not use the camp. I would go if we can get the owner of the camp to rent it to us for an overnight. Especially on a Friday the 13th.
