Well between Halloween II and Halloween 4 he was supposedly retired and would check in on Michael every Halloween. Now, using your imagination what job do you think Loomis would of had between II and 4? :)

Uumm....I picked other. He's retired. Which means he no longer has to go to work or hold a job. Retired=no job. No job=no work. No work=retired....and the circle is complete.

Yeah, but Clark this is make-believe time. I said use your imaginations, so I meant to just make up a wild and crazy job for Loomis to have in place of being retired.

not necessarily, Clark. Some people that retire from their career still get jobs, usually part-time so they have something to do.
oh and I said Fisherman...cuz that's just the way Loomis strikes me

He worked at Loomis',selling Michael burgers with a side of Myers fingers.;)

Seeing as he was probably in the hospital for awhile after all those burns...hmm...
Well, I think he had a low-key job. I was going to say he was part time at Smith's Grove, but that might be too close to Michael. Maybe he worked night shift at the 24 hour mart. All I know is, he had a low key job.

He might have been a counselor at Smith's Grove making sure no other rug rats were going to turn into another Michael Myers.

Minnesota Fisherman. Fishing is very relaxing and Minnesota has 10,000 lakes. It would of kept him busy between Halloweens.

When was it ever specified that Dr. Loomis had been retired for those ten years? I thought he was still a psychiatrist.

I know in H6 he says he is not dead just very much retired but I can't seem to recall them saying her was retired in H4.......

Loomis wasn't retired for the ten years after 1978.
Hoffman says himself in H4 that he hopes Loomis will eventually RETIRE, or die.
This is when Loomis is being discussed concerning himself and how he is STILL Michael's doctor before they begin the transfer of Myers himself.
So this PROVES that Loomis is NOT retired.
Now on to the part of Loomis with another job, well....I thought that would be so cool if Loomis worked at a gas station and I gave him $.69 for a Twinky.
LMAO...wait,
im not a big favorite of Twinkies, although the name works best for my lil' story.
I guess it could be a Snickers.

wouldnt that prove that he STILL worked??
it says in H4 that he ISNT retired, well not really - but logically by the dialogue, its proven.

uhh..okay..
Guys, there is absolutely no indication that Loomis was retired between Halloween II and 4. There is actually proof he must have been working, particularly when Dr. Hoffman wanted him to retire, and when the paramedic said "Michael Myers is still his patient".

I came close to choosing fisherman, but I think Loomis became a shrink for troubled kids. Loomis always knew the devil's eyes when he saw them. He wanted to end any other possible "Michaels" out there :D

Anyways, I could see Loomis wasting his time away being a hunter. Possibly hunting down Several Species of Small Furry Animals. (For you Pink Floyd fans)
So, in otherwords, I voted other...Hunter of Small Furry Animals because that is what Loomis devoted the rest of his life to, hunting, in a different sense.

IIRC, Loomis was still actively practicing until shortly before Halloween 6..he was still on the job in Halloween 5, at least.
I know two head-shrinkers, and the way they do it is they have a sort of day job (one works for the provincial health authority, and the other teaches at a university), with a private practice on the side. In whatever capacity Loomis was still Michael's doctor (Ridgemont, Smith's Grove, or whatever, although I can't remember it ever being said in any of the movies exactly where Loomis worked), that would be his day job. Then, he would see patients in a private practice on the side.
Loomis, whilst recuperating from Halloween 2, would probably still be on the payroll of his regular employer, but not drawing a paycheck. Likewise, his private practice would be allowed to slide. Loomis would probably have started both back up (although its debatable if either was profitable or earned him a living) shortly before Halloween 4.
It would make sense for Loomis to be in private practice, since it would be easier to overcome the disturbingness of his injuries if he had the greater control over what patients he saw in private practice. Let's also not forget that Loomis made something of a cottage industry out of Michael. Comments on the radio at the start of Halloween 6 and clippings you can see at the start of H20 indicate that he wrote extensively and gave seminars/ lectures on Michael. To my mind, it wouldn't even be much of a stretch for Loomis to have consulted with the FBI on its serial killer cases.
Interestingly, Loomis would probably be a child psychologist, because, if he wasn't, why would he have seen Michael in the first place and become his lifelong psychiatric professional? I read some fan fiction on the Internet which had Loomis one partner in a psychiatric practice with Malcolm Crow. Malcolm Crow was, of course, Bruce Willis' character from "The Sixth Sense". Further, this fan fiction said that one of Loomis' patients was Tommy Jarvis.
Loomis did retire just before Halloween 6...Loomis himself says so, but he was still able to work, because Wynn wanted Loomis to come back to work at Smith's Grove. Even if Wynn had the ulterior motives of the Cult of Thorn behind his actions, he couldn't bring an utter cripple or nutcase to work. Loomis had to be able, in some capacity, to hold down a job.
On the other hand, Loomis lived in the house of a nurse in H20...it was his office in Marion's house that Michael burgled. You don't move in with a nurse unless you need easy access to medical assistance. You may not need it all the time, or even very often, but you do need to be able to get at medical assistance readily.
Also IIRC, Loomis died from a stroke, but I don't remember for sure. Can anyone confirm exactly what Sam Loomis died of? Did Michael kill him at the climax of H6?
By the way, I voted for a fisherman.
