AND LOOK AT THIS: They're showing 1-2 and 4-8 on the big screen at the convention too! The list is "subject to change" but I'm sure most if not all of them will remain on there. Too bad H3 is not up there. :( I'd love to see it on the big screen. Perhaps it's because they don't have the reels, but some of us should try to make a suggestion about it in case that is not the deal. This is so exciting! I can't wait! :D

There was a convention in Arizona not too long ago, maybe less than a year back. Charles Cyphers and Tom Atkins were there. Nothing usually pops up in California, save for H25 and whatnot. Most of the action is on the East Coast for some reason. Sorry you can't make it to thse things, Chris :( Hopefully there will eventually be a convention close to home for you... I don't want to rain on anyones parade here but I'm about 99% sure that the films they show are not on the "big screen" as you put it. I'm pretty sure as at most conventions that show films that they are just dvd's projected on a screen that may be 5' X 7' at best. Some times they actually just have a TV and a VCR going in a small room in the hotel. So don't get your hopes up for the "big screen" experience like we put on at the Rialto for the H25 Convention. The only "big screen" experience in my opinion is at a real theater. -Clark

Thanks a lot for that update, Sean. I was told about this by someone and just assumed that they attained 35mm prints of all the films and would be screening them on an actual big screen.

At MonsterMania last year, I didn't get a chance to see any of the two (Halloween) movies they played (H2 & H4) but peeked into the room, and assumed they would be screening 35 mm prints on a movie theater type screen. I am seriously giving this convention some consideration about going. The only thing is, depending on which school I choose to attend may determine it. Only one of the schools I've applied for begins their semester after the convention weekend, which is the University I'm leaning towards the most. So I will have to wait for a definite answer till then.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. LA is a cake walk compared to NY/NJ. Midtown blows, just close your eyes and hit the gas pedal. If you hit something, or better yet someone, just don't look back and keep going.

Hi Gang,
Thanks for the kind words regarding Monster-Mania. Hope everyone can make it out to the show. Just so you know, the Hilton is in Cherry Hill, NJ which is just outside of Philadelphia. Traffic can be a little busy but nothing like Manhattan traffic.
We do use a 10 foot screen for the films. Thought they aren't 35MM (hard to transport a 35MM projector around) the films are either presented with 16MM or digital projection, with a really good sound system. Anyone who has been to the previous 2 Monster-Mania's can testify to the quality of the presentation. Usually we have one of the stars do a brief intro to the films, which has been very popular.

Thanks for the kind words regarding Monster-Mania. Hope everyone can make it out to the show. Just so you know, the Hilton is in Cherry Hill, NJ which is just outside of Philadelphia. Traffic can be a little busy but nothing like Manhattan traffic.
We do use a 10 foot screen for the films. Thought they aren't 35MM (hard to transport a 35MM projector around) the films are either presented with 16MM or digital projection, with a really good sound system. Anyone who has been to the previous 2 Monster-Mania's can testify to the quality of the presentation. Usually we have one of the stars do a brief intro to the films, which has been very popular.

Monster Mania and other similar conventions (I'm very partial to Chiller Theatre, been attending for many years now) feature a variety of actors, actresses and stuntmen from across the genre...sci-fi too...even some wrestlers, porn stars...writers, artists, etc.

They may target a particular franchise, but it's not out of the ordinary to see some Jason actor(s) and Michael actor(s) together at the same con. I personally would doubt that Kane and Ken would ever be doing a con together though...

In fact, it looks like Monster Mania just added George Romero as well. :)

Absolutely! At H25 we had really great experiences with all the Myers men, but Don and Dick really stood out in the bunch.

Especially considering H5 is my favorite, and Don was the first celebrity at H25 that I met, I was in Halloween heaven!

Recently I had some doubts about being able to attend the convention, because it's right at the time when I'm moving to New Hampshire, but after checking a few things out, I found that the convention will end the day before I have to leave! :) So even though being there the whole three days is sadly out of the question, I'll still be able to attend, and on that one day or two, I'll make make the most out of it with you guys. Unfortunately, it will be our first and last convention together. But we'll have tons of fun, so I hope you all have high anticipations like I do!!

IMO portable DVD players are a necessity for purchasing (likely burned) DVDs from various vendors at conventions.

The copy of Salo I got was crap, but thanks to Donny's DVD player (thanks again!) I was able to check it out and exchange it for a better copy all within a half hour!!

Ok, I've got a question for those who've attended Monster Mania before. At the past 2 conventions I was at, there was around an hour wait in line, not to mention Chiller's 3-4 hour line to get into the celebrity tent. So my question is, is buying tickets ahead of time the way to go, or is waiting in line not to bad? I only ask because the scale of the conventions I went to were pretty big, so I'm just wondering if there was a difference.

Most of the lines were reasonable. Robert Englund and Heather Langenkamp were long waits, but most of it was pretty laid back.

Well, it looks like I'll be able to attend this convention after all. Please don't kill me for the constant flip-flopping, lol. I ran into some problems with my schedule for moving to NH, so it turns out I won't have to leave until after the last day of Monster-Mania. Sorry for the confusion, everyone.

I am very psyched about this whole thing. I can't wait to meet the Halloween celebrities, as well as looking at fan merchandise (had a ball checking out all the cool stuff last year) and meeting up with some board members! It's going to be a terrific event, and I am obviously anticapting this very much. So far I'm planning to catch up with Ironman (Brad) and Oneilmyers78 (Mike). Aren't Jen, Buffy, and Sean going too?

They just added Adrienne Barbeau to the list :D I was pissed that I wouldn't be able to attend The Fog convention in Chicago, but now she's making it to Monster-Mania in Jersey, woo-hoo! lol If only Tom Atkins was added to the list. A dream come true. So as of now, I am planning to meet Cyphers, Kyes, Shoop, Moyer, Wilbur, Shanks, Barbeau, Durand, and Loree.

We're all going to have one HELL OF A TIME!

well, I talked to my parents about it (yes I have to since I'm living with them again, I felt it was respectful)

I even found hella good prices for tickets. I'd leave Friday and return Sunday.

Only problem? Getting from here to Dallas to fly out. I don't want to leave my car (yes, I'm weird). I could fly out from Waco to Dallas, but that's an extra $87. I guess I might have to do it, cuz I won't have to do it on the way back.
