I did a search but couldn't find a thread like this.

I was wondering what Halloween movie overall would you say had the best characters.

I guess Halloween IV because it had two of my favorite characters in it, Jamie & Rachel.

I would go with H2. The combination of Jimmy and Jill being one of the last people to "get it". I liked Janet even though we saw a little more of her in the TV cut and just the whole setting and the characters in the movie get my vote.

It has to be H5 for me

Yeah that will be right

HII gets my vote

It's got a drunk doctor,a paramedic that wants to get it on with one of the nurses, another paramedic that wants to get it on with Laurie,Deputy Hunt who i personally think was a great character,a lazy security guard,a daft Marshall & how can we forget the Elrods.

cheers

H5 actually gets my vote Gerrizzle D. Yes the fourth one had Jamie and Rachel, but H5 had Jamie, Rachel, Tina, Spitz, Sammi and Biilllyyy.

2 and H2O.
Not only are they the best sequels, but they each have a solid cast.Among the characters are Budd,Mrs.Alves,Will Brennan,Marion, and who can forget Ben Tramer?;)

hardy har har lol. j/k.

seriously though h5 does get my vote. both meeker and loomis seemed over the edge, and the mib added mystery to the story. also, seeing jamie and rachel return was pretty cool.

H2, hands-down. Marion's back, Hunt and Patrolman #1 are awesome, what more can be said about Dr. Mixter and Robert Mundy, Mrs. Alves, Ben Tramer, the Marshall, Mr. Garrett, etc etc! :)

Either H2 or H4. Jimmy, Jamie, Rachel to name a couple.

I'm going to agree with you on this one. H2 has the best character development of having numerous key players (Mixter, Budd, Mr. Garrett), but H20 has the star qualities of Jamie Lee, Janet Leigh, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Josh Hartnett, and Adam Arkin. Between the 2, I'd have to go with H2 by just a little bit.

Im going with Halloween 6. You had such great characters like Tommy Doyal, Kara Strode and not forgetting The Man In Black.
You can't beat that.

My favourite characters belong to h4. It had Jamie, Rachel, Kelly, Brady, Meeker, and even Reverand Sayer. All of them were developed very well.

I went with the original because I really like Annie, Lynda, Tommy Lindsay and heck...even Bob! :D

If the original had not been a choice, then I guess I would have gone with 5 because even though many of the characters are annoying, you've got some real memorable ones in there.

I went with Halloween IV. It had Jamie and Rachel obviously. But also Brady, Kelly (hot!!!), Sheriff Meeker, and Earl.

Halloween 4. Rachel was the perfect replacement for Jamie Lee Curtis and Jamie Loyd was a great character also. Plus you had a still healthy Loomis. Add characters like the reverend to the mix, and I see no doubt about this one. Even that little twit Bucky added something.

H4 - Rachel & Jamie

I think the Hospital gang in H2 would be the best supporting cast of all the movies. For being secondary characters, they have more depth than the other H's.....they are more realistic and likeable than any other H supporting characters thus the characters mean more to you, the viewer, and when you care about what happens to a particular character, it enhances the whole effect of the flick.

I voted for Halloween - Annie and Lynda are awesome.

My second pic is H20 though, because unlike many horror movies all the characters had something to them, to where you're not thinking "Okay, that guy is only in this movie to die". Jimmy, Molly, John, Will, Marion, Sara, Charilie, Ronny... :)

Hmm, tough one. I'm going to say Halloween 4 because Ellie Cornell and Danielle Harris did an awesome job playing as Rachel and Jamie.

Tina, Spitz, Sammi . . . bla! I voted for IV. You've got the best characters in there, minus Wynn. Only if Wynn was in IV. But you've got the little security guard guy, Hoffman, Rev. Sayer, Sherrif Meeker, Those crazy hillbillies, Brady smash-face, huge knocker Kelly, Bucky, Rachel, and Jamie(the best screamer in the whole series by far).

I just wish it was less of a teen party movie, and more of a Halloween movie. It was all about "yeah, let's party at the farm!" oh, btw, Michael Myers is here! Not chasing after Jamie at all! Yay!

I'm 20. I just loved the depth to the characters in Halloween the most . . . 5 didn't convey that message to me. Rachel died right away. tina was a weak, undeveloped character, and a horrible actress. I do love 5 in some respects, though. Especially Michael getting torn between good and evil. it really portrayed him differently. oh, and the whole end cliffhanger was a nice twist.

I don't think Sammy was a better or worse character, which further proves Tina's worthlessness. She's supposed to be close to jamie and rachel, but she ditches Jamie to go to a party. I think Sammi was a better actress, but they're about evenly bad in my book.

I had to go with H2. Just like what a few others have said that it had a really good character developement, the character's were not 2d cartoon characters, the actors really brought characters to life. For example I'm sure some of you guys/gals probably wanted Mrs. Alves to be the first to get killed by Michael and you probably felt sorry for Janet becuase Mr. Alves kept giving her crap. You probably wanted Jimmy to survive because he wanted to protect Laurie and some of you might of wanted Bud meet his demise because he was an ass, I said SOME, I really wanted him to get his pizza, he derserved it for working all night! Bud is the man!

MyersFan927
01-31-2006, 10:38 PM
The more I think about, the supporting characters in H2 are sort of bland and didn't have enough room to develop. Of course they are nowhere near as bad as the cardboard pieces of shit that make up H:R, yet it often seems as if they're in the same general realm as the characters we'd expect from any 80s slasher. Perhaps characters aren't a major strongpoint in H2, as great of a sequel as it may be. The leading cast of Pleasence and Curtis pulled a lot of weight in this entry.

H4, by far, has the best character development of any sequel in the franchise...IMO. The cast just feels more vibrant, from Jamie to Rachel, Kelly to Brady, Meeker and even the rednecks. But since I just realized that the original is included, in which you cannot go wrong, I'll have to choose that one by a hair.

One major thing that H4 (and H6) has over the original is the Halloween atmosphere.

PhantomPhart
01-31-2006, 11:35 PM
I thought the original had tons of atmosphere.

MrTaft
01-31-2006, 11:38 PM
H2 had too many likeable, if not fully-developed characters, for us to enjoy. The return of Brackett and Marion, plus Hunt, the hospital staff, Robert Mundy and even the marshal were welcome additions to the cast, in my book, so thus gets my vote. There is much vivid interplay between them that is similar to the other sequels.

Not enough Halloween atmosphere. When you shoot Pasadena, CA in spring and try to make it look like midwestern autumn, you're bound to not have perfection. The midwest is an explosion of colors in fall, and the trees would never be a solid green such as portrayed in the movie. Now H1 does pretty well for its tiny budget and location circumstances, but there could have been room for greater improvement.

John Carpenter and Jamie Lee Curtis agree to this.

Halloween.
They didn't have any characters that got on my nerves. The rest of the movies did.

It was between 1, 4, and H20. 4 had Kelly, Brady, and Sheriff Meeker all of whom I didn't like. I liked H20's characters fine, 1 only won because I'm not really fond of Josh Harnett or Michelle Williams.

EDIT: I didn't even think of H2, but I now I wish I would have voted that one. Oops :o

I vote for parts 2 and 4. Part 2 had a great ensamble of characters, from the returns from H1 (Laurie, Loomis, Marion, Michael), to the unsuspecting hospital staff (Jimmy, Karen, Jill, Bud, Mrs. Alves, Janet, Mr. Garrett, Dr. Mixter), to the new characters that were introduced (Hunt, the Marshall, Robert Mundy). Part 4 was great for a 'fresh start' to an old storyline. Introducing Jaimie, Rachel, Mr & Mrs. Coruthers, Kelly Meeker, Ben Meeker, Brady, Wade, Bucky, and Deputy Logan was very diverse and creative. Watching Dr. Loomis interact with an entire new cast well written and well acted. Definatly one of my favorites in the series.

4 definitely gets my vote. I was close to picking part 2 for it's kick ass sequences, the doctor drinking on the job, Ben Tramer LOL, and of course Mr. Garett and his skull getting fucked.

But I still have to go with 4. Lots of fun and entertainment there. Great and memorable characters: Jamie, Rachel, Rachel's b/f Brady who finds out he is not getting no poon but has a backup plan in the form of the Sheriff's hot to trot daughter(big teats on that hot body), the rednecks who go on a hasty, drunken vigilante mission with no thought out plan and can't shoot right, but nail some dumbass named Hollister LMAO!, and of course my man Bucky. I liked Ben Meeker in that one too. He was a no nonsense, badass Sheriff who takes charge and even has a good line towards Brady in his house. I don't think none of the other movies can beat that or even boast an array of memorable characters. Part 2 is close though.

Oh and last, but certainly not least; Jack Sayer(Carmen Filipi).

He was a total riot with his search for doomsday and the apocalypse. Not to mention that he drinks for Jesus. Funny shite. I always get a kick out of that scene between him and Loomis on the road. Lots of good memories with H4.

I chose Halloween 6 because one of the good things about either the theatrical cut or producer cut is the people you want to root for: Kara, Tommy, Danny, Baby Steven, and Debra. The strong family unit really helped to have someone to root for or hope they get offed, AKA Mr. John Strode.
