Why not?
Btw, the old box had better design.

I'm too much of a collector to open it up. I wanted the die-cut cover and got it for fairly cheap.

Am i the only one who buys DVD:s to watch them nowadays?

No, I watch all the movies I get, but why open a box set to watch movies I've already gotten with better features on them?

That makes sense. Since i don't have Halloween 2, 3 and 7 on DVD, i think i'm gonna open it. ;)

Unless you're a big time collector like Mike, the box is lame. It offers NOTHING new, making the purchasing of it rather pointless, unless of course you don't already have the halloween films on dvd or you're a big collector.

The box set is just what Matt says it is. It's a nice box and has the movies. Otherwise, skip it. One day Anchor Bay will own the rights. Then you'll get a box set.

DAMN YOU, BASTARD!!!! lol I want that one soooo bad.
Not even I have the complete Halloween collection on DVD. At least not yet. So far all I have is:
H1 Extended
H1 25th
H2 Universal
H3 Universal
H4 AB
H6 P-Cut
H20
H:R
As you can see I still need 5 and 6. Then when I get more money I'll buy the two tins, the GoodTimes versions of 2 and 3, and HOPEFULLY a good Limited Edition of H1 will pop up one day. You have no idea how much I want one of those.
As for the box set there is nothing special about it. The set is only worth buying if you're a bit time DVD collector. I personally don't want one, but if anyone else does, go for it!

They've made a box set, yes. Here's the site for the box:

I'm sorry to say that it doesn't have new extras. Except the fact that Ressurection has DTS, just like the swedish version of the film. At least i think it does. It says so on the site where i can order it from.

I'm thinking about creating the "ultimate" DVD by taking the transfer from Universal's release and the extras plus the 5.1-track from Sanctuary's DVD. There's only one problem, I don't know which programs to use and so on. I only have Adobe Encore DVD 1.5.

Well, they are the best versions avalible, almost...
I'd rather have this version of 'Halloween 6' than the R1. This has the 5.1-track and anamorphic widescreen.
Let's blame it on Buena Vista, shall we? They're probably too busy with all those Disney re-releases that they don't care about us Halloween-fans!

I hope so.
I have lots of things I want the companies to include if they make new DVD's of the films. The things I especially want for them to include is DTS-tracks for all the movies. I mean, AB gives every movie they release a DTS-track. Every movie except Halloween 1, 4 & 5! That sucks! Just think about watching Halloween with a DTS-track! Plus, one thing, the 5.1-track almost doesn't use the .LFE at all! There should be more bass involvement. The Halloween theme has a drum (of some kind) in it, and it would be great if they could sync that with the .LFE. It should go really low, and you should really feel the bass in your stomach. That would rock! (According to me.) :D

DTS = A sound format, more accurate and deeper than Dolby Digital 5.1. Takes much better use of your system, especially the LFE. (Read below.)
LFE = The subwoofer in a home theater system. (.1)

Hey everybody. I have a few questions for the people that have this UK release. I have a chance right now to get one of these for a pretty good price and I was wondering if there is anything special about the versions in the boxset. Here are my questions...
Are the films remastered at all?
Are the films the uncut versions?
Any special features on these films?
Now I heard that they were not to great BUT there was also a boxset released in the UK before this that had all the halloween films except parts 6 And 8. I heard this versions had the uncut remastered versions and tons of extras. I can also get this version pretty cheap. So I can chose between the two. Which one would be better to get?
Another thing I can do is. Since I can get them both for cheap, I can buy both boxsets and just switch the disks around so that the better ones are in the 8 Pack set or I could just buy the single dvds and put them in the case. I'm sure everyone is confused by now lol. So to make it clear. What I really want is the 8 BOXSET. Just the cool box, but I want to put the better versions of the DVDS in the box. Which versions of the dvds are better? Either way I am going to get the 8 Boxset just for the case, so I want to know which versions of the dvds are the best to put in it. Thanks in advance for any help that may come.
Again, this is about the UK releases. not that Asian bootleg crap!
Also, does anyone have some pictures they can take of their boxsets? I've never seen anything besides the stock covers...

Kreepy, being from the States, you've got pretty much the best of all of them. If you've really got to have this set, I'd go with the latter with the knife on the front. The only difference is the inclusion of the 2 movies. The transfers are the same.

The UK Anchor Bay release has all 8 Movies (With part 3) But that's really really hard to find now. Check the link in my sig, I have th china release of the boxset for sale. It has all 8 Films aswell including part 3. I have the anchor bay boxset too but I would never get rid of that, I love it, i'm a fan of digipacks for some reason lol

I, also, have all the movies except the third. Not because I don't wanna buy the third, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
I have to go on amazon.com and order it, as they don't have it in any stores near me anymore :(

That's how I am, I have all of the movies except for the 3rd. I don't want that movie because Michael isn't in it. It's not a halloween movie to me. If I find a box set & it's in there, then whatever, I can deal, lol.

That's the second of 2 releases for a Region 2 release in England where Anchor Bay has acquired all the rights to the movies. There are no plans at this time for any box set considering the rights are owned by Anchor Bay, Universal, and Dimension.

You're welcome. Just wait til the series dies a horrible death and you may see someone come along and buy the rights. I doubt Universal would give up rights to H2 and 3 though.

I have H1, H2, H20 and Halloween:The Homecoming (better than Resurrection IMHO but I still want the official release). I still need all the others as well as the extended H1, the H6 Producers Cut and 25 YOT. I have the first 7 on VHS as well as the TV-Cut of H1.

Yes, it's cut. Damn BBFC! Well, I'm gonna buy Universal's Halloween III, so it won't matter. :D It still sucks that it's cut, though. AND it has the wrong AR.
I went on DVD Compare. This is what they say is missing from the UK region 2 HIII :
-One scene that seems to come and go depending upon the version is a close up of a woman's face who's just been blasted in the mouth by an blue energy beam. The next thing we see is a bug crawling out of a large hole in her rather molten looking face. Other versions fade to black before the camera can close in on her face.
-The love scene between the two main characters has been slightly trimmed
-When the old man is killed in the junkyard, you loose the footage of his head being pulled off and the resultant fountain of blood.
-In the scene were the robot man attacks the woman in the laborotory, he reaches for a drill, it starts to spin and in the video version it cuts off. In a showing on Sky we see a shot of the woman being drilled with the head obscured by a hospital trolley, but you can hear the sound of her being drilled and see her legs shaking.
-There are missing scenes during the death of Harry Grimbridge, these are three shots of the assassins fingers in his eyes, the wrenching of the skull and his feet thrashin.
My question is: why were these cuts even made?

Im not sure why those cuts were made, Some countries are a little stricter on violence, But if you want to see H3 in all of its glory you need to get the Universal USA version, Its a bare bones dvd but the picture and color and transfer are perfect and all those scenes are still there.
