View Full Version : Looking for Writers for Anthology Film
Mark Warner

Well, I mentioned my plan to create an anthology film and have it released by Summer of 2005 in my thread about my short film. Well, my other writer for two of the stories doesn't have time to write them, so I'm in need of a new writer for the film. Anyone interested, drop me a message here at the board or on AIM.

Okay, the anthology, which the working title I have decided to call Fear, is about 4 people with different phobias, or fears. Well, each of the people face their phobias cranked up 10x. I am writing two of the scripts, and whoever I pick is writing the other two. Each story in the film will be 15-20 minutes long, adding up to an hour long film.
What I need you guys to do is write two scripts based on a phobia or fear. The main character in the story must have the phobia as well. I'd also like to have lots of atmosphere and good dialouge in these scripts.
Justin (Thrillogy) may be playing the narrator, so at the beginning of the script you need to have a short monologue to introduce us to each story.
When you finish your scripts, send them to me, then I will send you a review of them.
If you have anymore questions, drop me a PM, contact me over AIM, or just leave the question on this thread

I don't get it... if this is your movie, wouldn't you want to write it? I mean... you already have your vision in your head... no?
Don't get me wrong... it sounds bloody brilliant, but If this were my project, I'd want it for me... know what I mean?
Mark Warner

Yes, which is why I'm writing the scripts for two of the stories, but I haven't got the time to do all the scripts (as much as I want to), with all my other film projects that I have coming up as well.

Well, what phobias are there? You don't want them to overlap. And do the characters know each other?

Contact me for a list of phobias I can send you. I'll tell you if they were already done or not. So far, Justin is the only person who I know for certain what they are doing for the phobias in their scripts. And for my scripts I'm doing one story on claustrophobia and the other on psychophobia (fear of losing your mind) or Oneirophobia (Fear of dreams).
And no, the characters don't know each other.

can i write one about the fear of midgets? those little people give me the eebie-jeebies.
Mark Warner

Uh, no. This is a low budget film and I don't think there are many midgets where I live. But thanks for asking.

dangit. we need to find a town where carnival folk go to. somehwere out in BFE i'm sure. why not give out the 2 remaining types of fears you want in your movie and have people submit their ideas/scripts to you on them? just a thought.
Mark Warner

The thing is, though, I don't want to get 50 different scripts all about the same two phobias. I want you guys to write out a script that has different phobias. When you guys begin to write your scripts, let me know what you are writing them on so I can tell you if Justin or myself are doing a script on that.

Okay, guys, here's two more projects you guys can help me with:
1. Think of a title that will go well with the film. Remember, it's an anthology.
2. Music: Right now, I have absolutely no music for the film, and I can't play an instrument if my life depended on it. At the present, I've been using music from The Thing, Dawn of The Dead (78 and 04), H25, and Halloween III soundtracks, but I know that for this film I will most likely need an original score.
So, if any of you are musicians or can hook me up in some way or whatever, drop me a line.

I hope that there's more to your story. I hope it doesn't just end with him getting into bed and getting stabbed by needles Here's some advice:
I think it would be better if as the story goes, he begins to see more and more needles around and the seemingly taunt him until it finally spins outta control.
Just some advice, other than that, it's awesome.

Yes, Creepshow is a very good film. Another classic from George Romero, made even better by the great screenplay by Stephen King. What I learned from it was how to pull off my movie in kind of the same style as Creepshow. You know, that comic book style, except toned down a bit. Also the score. It needs to be eerie and creepy. John Harrison just made that score very creepy and I had chills just listening to it. So, I'm thinking of getting the guy who did the H25 soundtrack to at least give me some tips and maybe compose some music for the film, and then use some music from other films.

"Skin Deep"
A Script By Justin "thrillogy" Dombrowski
Fade In:
The screen fades into black.mysterious noises and such are heard in the background. Then a voice is heard.
Narrator (v.o)
.The following story is a tale of madness ,
fear,and deception. Timothy Wales was
an average kid. he went to high school
,got good grades and studied hard. But
he had a secret that many did not know.
He had Belonephobia.a fear of needles.
Each day he looked under his bed., in his
food.Even in his locker at school....
Pan To:
The screen pans out to a bedroom. the wall colours are simple
the bed is neat and tidy.the room is well dusted and picked up.
Then we see someone fall from a shelf in the closet. It is Timmy.
He then stands back up and sits on his bead. a motherly voice
is heard from downstairs.
Mrs. Wales
Timmy! hurry up ! your going to be
late for school!
Cut To:
By this time Timmy is now racing around frantically looking for
bookpack. He then finds it and races out of the door and
downstairs. As he comes out the room he trips on the floor.
He then looks at his arm. There are tons of needles
sticking out of his arm.He then screams frantically and
scrambles on the floor frantically.
Cut To:
He awakes. It was just a dream and Timmy is sitting
against the wall.
Mrs. Wales
Timmy you ok?( Timmy nods his head)
They thenwalk out of the door and it closes. As we pull
back and "into" the floor we can see a needle sticking out
of the ground with blood on it.
Fade In" Black
so far this is what i have.ill be sure to post more tomorrow.

That sounds interesting. Sorry I just got to this thread. I love to write. I am um...not much of a scriptwriter usually, but it could be fun and challenging. If you already have two people to write disregard my response. But it does sound cool. Gives me something new and interesting to write.

Oh, it's no trouble if you want to write a screenplay for the film. I'm looking for two scripts. I've already got two that I'm doing, and I need two more. Actually, I need four more. I've decided to have 6 stories in this film instead of 4. I know it sounds kind of hard, but I'm going to try it out.

Okay. Well like I said I am not much of a script writer, but maybe I'll try and write one or two. Nice little challenge for me. If I come up with anything I'll let you know. The six scripts actually sound better than the two. Should be good.

The fuck with midget babies...what about money? Would I get paid for writing for this anthology film? If so, I can crank out something brilliant. But my writing talents don't come free.* ;)
*This statement applies to any project not directly involving Remicis.

Well, this film is more of a labor of love rather than doing it for the money. We're trying to put the money we DO have into the film and worry about the payoff later.
So, to answer your question, no, you would not get paid, but you would get credited for your story, if it makes it to the film. I know this is going to turn a lot of people off to this, but as I said, this is a labor of love.....the money really isn't important to us. This is low budget filming, so most of the people working on this are friends or family that don't care whether they get paid or not. They're not people who don't know what they are doing either, so it's just a way to exercise their talents. It's something fun and something to do over the summer for them, so they really don't care about the money.

Understandable...I generally work the same way. Trouble is, I always get people to agree to work with me (fully aware that there is no monetary compensation looming on the horizon), then they end up bailing on me because they're suddenly "too busy." As for me, I am too busy at the moment, working on a film of my own, to contribute to anyone else's unless there's compensation involved. If I had less on my plate, I'd probably give it a go. But the best thing to do is what the people who screwed me over never had the decency to do...simply not agree to do the flick in the first place.
Sorry I can't help...but hey, at least I'm not bailing out on you in mid-shoot. ;)
