What did you all think of these films? I thought the first one was ok, but the rest were kind of lame. I haven't even seen the 4th straight to video movie.

They all suck. First one was the least bit sucky, but it was bad. As for Cheerleader Massacre...the film is basically a softcore porno with a killer on the loose, but mainly its about doing the wild thing. I think it even stars porn actresses in it....yea its bad. I wouldnt bother with them if I were anyone slightly interested in seeing them.

I like the first one. It is pure 80's but that's part of its charm. Robin Stille(Valerie the neighbour) was cute in her 80s kind of way.

I've been planning to get the first one on dvd but never get around to it. I don't remember much about the films but I do know that Brinke Stevens is in the first.

The original is on IFC right now for those interested.

I thought the original was great for a small indie flick. It seemed to me like it had a lot of that old Carpenter Halloween tension and it felt like a good 80's slasher - which is what it was. I didn't use the search function before creating a new thread on this series and I apologize for the clutter.
Anyway, I voted for the original.

I LOVE the Slumber Party Massacre films. I voted for 1, but I actually like 3 just as much.
I like that the killer was masked for a small portion of the film in 3.
2 is really cheesy and bad, but I still love it. The guitar drill is just so far fetched, and brilliant at the same time. "Let's BUZZZZZ!" Haha.

STFU. You are lying. If you thought it sucked, you wouldn't watch it every other Thursday.
Slumber Party Massacre is probably my earliest and most vivid recollection of watching a horror movie. It was right around the time Masters of the Universe (Yep, Dolph Lundgren) was released and HBO did a special on the making of it. The TV special was on too late for me to watch so I asked my father to tape it for me so I could view it the next day.
I woke up early in the morning, walked into the living room and grabbed the first Beta Max cassette in my site...I popped it in the player and began to watch Masters of the Universe right to the very end of the credits...ya'know where we see Skeletor emerge from the water. So, the movie ends, all I see is common TV fuzz...I fast forward a bit thinking the "Making of..." special is further on the tape...I see a picture come through and hit play...although what I find isn't the golden locks of Dolph,...no, it is neighborhood scene with red opening credits rolling. I watch for a bit and see a girl rise from her bed and take her nightgown off. And folks, right there and then was not only my first experience with the horror genre, but my first glance at the glory of the female body. I was in complete awe...I had to be four at the time, and I had never seen anything quite like what I saw that day. And I guess, well,... I have Slumber Party Massacre to thank for that.
Strange story indeed, but I was bored and I thought I'd share. This movie kind of has a special place in my heart.

I like I & III equally. II is ok and Cheerleader Massacre was a huge disappointment. I wish Jason Paul Collum got to film his script for SPM 4. I bet it would have been more interesting than what we got instead.
I is great II is pretty crappy and I havent seen III yet.

The original was good tongue in cheek fun when it hit night time. I also liked the Halloween ripoff theme done on an organ (or sysnthesizer made to sound like an organ).

I voted for the first Slumber Party Massacre. It's one of my favorite slasher films. I'm surprised to see no voted for Part 3 though since I find that a lot of people tend to favor that as a sequel compared to Part 2. I guess that's not the case on here. Cheerleader Massacre isn't bad either.

I've actually gotten to the point where I like III just as much as the original. I watched it the other day, and I never get tired of it.

All of the Slumber Party Massacre movies are completely insane. In the first one we have girls eating a pizza off a dead guy, and if I remember correctly, the killer falls asleep on the couch in one scene. In the sequel, the killer plays the guitar and sings "Satisfaction." Although I am inclined to believe the sequel took the "it was all a dream" approach. The third one was just over the top cheesy.
And with said said, movies like these are my guilty pleasures. They're fun to watch when you have a lot of time to kill. :)

Great story. Sometimes that's all it takes for films to hold some sort of "time stamped" impact on us.
I've only seen the first and really enjoyed it. I thought the killer was sufficently creepy (especialy when he starts talking about all the pretty girls). The characters in it were interesting and snarky and the lines were cheesy deliciousness. Even the kills were rather original, not to mention the cinematography and look of the picture had that perfect 80's vibe, or at least for my grainy VHS tape. Films from that time period certainly look different, and in my opinion, better and more artistic than modern films. I'm not a fan of crisp and clear picture quality. I don't see the point. The real eye hardly reflects that type of precision.
Anyways this movie was fun in all the ways you'd want a slasher movie to be. It's not an intellectual exercise, but good movies don't have to be. Celebrating and appreciating cinema isn't about chasing after the most morose and contextualy thick films around. I've always found people who solely pursue that kind of entertainment ironicaly shallow and one dimensional; like someone who can't appreciate a pizza over eating steak and shrimp every day or people who don't answer their door for Halloween.

You should definitely check out SPM 2 and 3, zc. 2 is so goddamn cheesy.....that flick is a riot. The driller killer even sings. I wonder what drugs the makers of SPM 2 were on, because it's one wacky movie.
3 is different. It's like the first one in a way, but the tone of it is actually somewhat dark. The red herrings in it are hilarious.

I definitely want to see them, but I got to reel in some of my movie spending. Invest in stocks. Bonds. Goat cheese.

If you want to see pure cheese, then watch SPM II. :D The makers of that film were on some serious drugs, because it's one wack movie. Wack, but awesome.
The driller killer looks like Andrew Dice Clay. You have to love the guitar drill too. I want a guitar drill for myself.

I voted for the first one although #3 was pretty close. I can't recall exactly what the killer said to the girl he was stalking in 3 but it made me laugh so hard i choked. She was trying to tip toe past him and he said something about her weight.
The 2003 movie lacked all of the little things that made the original and 3rd one so much fun.

I like them all but 1 is my favorite. With 2 they were almost moking the Friday and Nightmare movies. Theres a lot of mentions of other horror icons in there. You have to really listen. The cops were named Officer Kruger and Officer Voorhees. The name Craven is there. Fun movie! 3 was ok to me and 4 was just rediculous.

Wow, I can barely remember these flicks, I have not seen them in ages. They, as well as House on Sorority Row, really need to be re-released on DVD. I hope the remake of HoSR calls up a new edition.

Ths movie is perfect for teaching people how to properly make Kool-Aid. Just pour the sugar in. No measurement neccessary. And it definitely lays to rest the debate that pizza can ever NOT taste good. If you've got the munchies you'd eat pizza off of a dead man's back; it's that awesome.
In case you guys were wondering, snail hunting with a machete is not the best option for your garden if you don't want to put chemicals on the ground. Some helpful tips for you plant and garden affeciandos:
Use salt. Go out before dawn and salt some of the earth around the garden. Do not get it on the plants, or rather, the roots.
Hair clippings will render the slimy critters less mobile.
Snails won't travel over copper barriers. They should have these in almost any garden variety shop. They also sell crushed coral that will cut up the little vermin before they get to your tomato plants.
And if you're not entirely opposed to chemicals they do make a plethora of enviromentally safe pesticides for snails. Just ask!
-------------------------------------------------------------
So if you follow these helpful tips you should be safe from a random Russ Thorn drill attack to the larynx. Being well informed about proper garden upkeep can save a life.

Memorable quotes from Slumber Party Massacre.
Trish Devereaux: Look, what do you have against Valerie, anyway?
Diane: Nothing. She drinks too much milk.
Jackie: What do all the guys see in Diane anyway?
Trish Devereaux: She's beautiful.
Jackie: I think she's got a big mouth.
Kimberly Clarke: Hey, it's not the size of your mouth; it's what's in it that counts.
[Diane is talking on the phone with her boyfriend; the girls are downstairs listening on the other end]
Diane: I love it too. You think I'm getting better?
[the girls are covering up the pizza guy's dead body]
Kimberly Clarke: He's dead all right. So cold.
Jackie: Is the pizza?
[Jackie takes a slice of pizza]
Jackie: Well life goes on after all and eating makes me feel best when I feel bad and boy do I feel bad.
[she takes a bite of the pizza]
Jackie: I feel better already. Really, I do.
