Randy said that in a sequel , and Mickey had to name some that surpassed the original and explain why, can you?
I got it by the way....The Godfather....part 2.

You could maybe argue that T2 is better than the terminator. The problem is, the two films are so different in terms of budget and scope of story that they're difficult compare.
One thing that many people forget is just because a sequel isn't as good as the original doesn't make it a bad film. One of my favorite "idiot" lines is "all the halloween sequels suck is because there not as good as the original." Yeah, no shit thats because nothing in the horror genre is better than the original halloween, but that doesn't make the rest of the sequels shit by default. Strayed a little bit from topic... end of rant lol.
House 3 was the best in the House series.
It was more voilent than the others.
Aswell, the film had a good story.

Ya know....i can't think of a Pt.2 or 3....etc. that's better than the original except maybe......maybe.....Friday the 13th Pt.2 although i love Pt.1. Original Halloween, Texas Chainsaw, Amityville Horror, Jaws, Species just to name a few have the best original IMO.
I consider James Cameron's Aliens slightly better than Ridley Scott's Alien. I say slightly because both movies had great dialogue, great characters and a damn good story but Aliens wins in the action department and the movie had better supporting actors (Bill Paxton/Michael Biehn) supporting Sigourney Weaver.
I also think Godfather 2 is better than Godfather but that's really part of a trilogy so I don't know if you can count it as a sequel rather than an ongoing story. Same goes for Empire Strikes Back being better than Star Wars...it's part of a saga so can it really be counted as a sequel?
I also think Spider-man 2 and X-Men 2 blew their original movies away.

Superman 2, better than the first. Better bad guys

I would have to say that the one for me was Scream 2, even though most won't agree, because it is a little scary to me because in the first one they pretty much tell you who is going to die from the rules and in scream 2 you can't figure out the killer as easily in my mind

It's the second movie, continuing from the first. Therefore it's a sequel, and it's a better film than the original. :)

I thought Hannibal was a far superior sequel to The Silence of the Lambs.
It put Lecter front and center instead of in the background, his dark sense of humor was absolutely pefect(this movie has some of my favorite quotes in cinematic history), you actually got to see him in action against the rude, ignorant, and immature types that he loathes so much, Silence just tells you that he feels this way and you don't really get to see it so it's not as gratifying, Clarice is a much stronger character than she was as a fledgling agent in Silence because she has a decade of experience, Zimmer's score is amazingly dark, romantic, beauitful, eerie, and sophisticad all at the same time, it had the best character ensamble of the trilogy, and I loved the Italian atmosphere.
I strongly disagree with the belief that most sequels suck though. I think many have surpassed their predecessors. Hannibal is only 1 example.

My sequels that were better than the originals are:
Terminator 2
Spider-Man 2
X-Men 2
Austin Powers 2 & 3
Those are the only ones I that I agree with that I can think of, but I have a question: how would you handle the James Bond films? If those are considered sequels, then there are quite a few that were better than Dr. No. I also have to strongly disagree with you, MichaelMyers. Blade 2 and Men in Black 2 were much worse than the originals in my opinion.

Gremlins 2 could be said to be better then the first. I hold them both equally though.
I think Friday the 13th 2,3,4,6, and 7 are better then the first. I would not call the first a bad movie, it's just not the classic that the sequels generated.
I could even say that Beverly Hills Cop 2 is better, but I also say it's equal.

Because video games these days are more fun then movies.
I'm still hooked on San andreas...lol
My two cents? Don't ever bother with sequels. Sure, they might sound like a good idea at first, but they usualy end up sucking my balls all night long. Make new movies, new stories, and leave all this sequel business to Sony and Microsoft.

i dont think thats an entirely true statement, really, think of TV shows, most of the time they get better between seasons 1 and 2 and so on, they really learn the chemistry of the actors better as shows develop and they kinda realise what the show is supposed to mean... not all the time, but sometimes.
i think H2 is better than the original.
Dawn of the Dead is better than Night, if you ask me.
theres always gonna be a crowd that cherishes originals for originality though

I don't like original movies just because they are the original. I just don't see the point in sequels. Seem's like a waist of time. TV shows are not the same, but often get boring and doll after 2 or 3 seasons anyway.
I just like to see more new things, rather then a re-take of what has already been done when it comes to movies.
Sure, you'll get the odd sequel that will be better then the original, but I still don't think it's worth it.

Empire Strikes Back...brilliant
Wayne's World 2 was much funnier than the first, IMO
Austin Powers -- Ditto
HP and the Chamber of Secrets -- much better than the first one. I like them all, but Chamber rules
LOTR:Two Towers -- another one where the second is the best in the lot

Honestly though, I can't fault these guys for doing different things. As you said earlier, they have nothing to prove as they've shown what they're capable of.
At the same time, they want to show that they aren't stagnant, and can work in other genres. They're not always good films, but I admire the chance they take.
The first film I ever saw Pesci in was Easy Money back in '83, and I loved it. :p

Pesci, "Can you please get me some cotton balls for my nose"

It's not really just GoodFellas and Casino that spring to mind, though it is Pesci at his best. Raging Bull and My Cousin Vinny and shit like that...and I understand expanding, but there comes a time where you got to stick to what your act appears to be. Al Pacino did that and DeNiro didn't.
Who did we see dominate the 90's? Scarface, not the taxi driver. It's a shame Pussy didn't at least try to follow in Pacino's steps...and no one please, don't mention 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag haha
