what does everyone think of Scream? i thought it was a great movie. the opening scene was one of the most insense scenes i can remember at time that is was made. plus, i thought the twist of making it a bit of a mystery was a nice was to freshen up the slasher genre. and lets not forget some of the nice references to some of the classic horror movies we all love, like a nightmare on elm street and halloween. of course there were tons of the obligatory sequels and rip offs, but isn't that a sign of a great movie?

Scream was not a Stephen King movie. Where did you hear that from?

so, what are your thoughts on the movie superman? I loved Scream and both sequels. I watched 1 and 2 last week. I bought the costume one Halloween and even work it at a summer camp where I worked one year and scared a few of the other counselors. I had a glow in the dark mask version and turned the light off in the art barn and scared the shit out of a few counselors. She ren into a bench and gashed her leg open. I felt really bad, but she was not mad in the least and she thought it was a cool trick. We fixed up her leg and she was good to go. I wish they made another one..I'd see it. I bought the Movie Manacis version of the figure.

The first and the third are awesome, the second one seemed like it just was another "killer on campus" flick

I can sit through scream, but the characters are so damn annoying. Like it had Kevin williamson written all over it.

Did anyone ever notice in Scream 2 when Randy corrects the other guy in class about the line from Aliens.. that he's wrong. The guy who says the line first gets it right and then Randy fucks it up. Whatever..
I like the first Scream the best.. the whole killers being more creative by watching horror movies was cool.. as well as all the references to other movies. And I still love the scene at the end with Billy and Stu stabbing each other. :D

How? No one knew who he was then...
Anywho, I adore Scream and I pop Scream 3 in all the time just to watch Parker Posey wandering around like a nut.

I loved it. The opening sequence is one of the most tense scenes on film. Craven did a great job directing the suspense. Billy and Stu made a great team, with and without the outfit on.
Both of the sequels are excellent too. I'd rank this as the second best trilogy behind The Lord of the Rings.

I never noticed that! Very interesting Scissorhands...
And I personally find the Scream triology to be outstanding. I think the first is a modern-day classic for sure.

There's nothing wrong with a Killer on the campus flick.

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with them, it's just Scream 2 kind of seemed like Urban Legend or some of the other killer on campus flicks, only better. But by the time I watched Scream 2, I had seen Urban Legend and some of the other killer on campus movies, so it lessoned it's impact on me, and it just seemed like another killer on campus flick.

I like all of them. They all had fresh new stories.
SCREAM- Covered horror stereotypes.
SCREAM 2- Covered horror sequel stereotypes.
SCREAM 3- Wrapped all the stereotypes into a trilogy.

Scream wouldnt have been half as good without the presence of Jamie Kennedy and Matthew Lillard. "Ahhhhhh ya hit me with the phone, dick!" :D

Haha, yeah.Lotsa good things from Matthew. And,from what Wes Craven said in the commentary, alot of his lines were ad-lib.Pur genius.I cant see anyone else taking the character and running with it like Lillard did.

I loved all of the Scream Movies. I own the boxed set and watch them all the time. As a matter a fact, I just watched the first one yesterday. I'm glad someone made this thread. I love talking about Scream. I think someone should start a triva thing on it. I'm pretty good at answering Scream questions.

Amen to that brotha. When it came to both of those guy's going down I felt bad. Both were my favorite characters in the series.
The movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. I really didn't care for the sequels though.

I loved scream. It was one of my favorites. I love all three of them. A fun triliogy I thought. I mean the horror spoof thing was brilliantly done without making horror films too campy-comedic like. I hated scary movie by the way. Neve Campell rocks in that movie and I love the scene with Drew. Killing off a major celebrity in the first few minutes is always a risk. I mean it did work in psyco and it was pulled off in Scream. Rose Mcgowen is cool too

i just finished watching scream so i thought i would give this thread a bump. i never get tired of watching this movie.

i really love the original movie, im also a huge Rose Mcgowan fan (she played Tatum)
as far as the sequels go, i bought part 2 for 4.99 and ive watched it once since i bought it, and ive seen part 3 twice or so. i dont think the movie shouldve been sequeled whatsoever, they had a good movie and commercialized the hell out of it.
the so called killer in part 2 is the stupidest thing ive ever been let down by, no one could ever seen that coming, stupid, not smart at all.
i wish i could like the sequels more, but its alright cause the original movie makes up for it. i still watch scream 1 about every month and a half, i think its a really good commercial horror movie of the 90s.

The original was superb. I really loved how during that party, they used the Halloween soundtrack to build up the tense moments. Kinda like how Halloween used that horror movie sound Lindsey & Tommy were watching when Michael was carrying a dead Annie inside the house. I just thought it was cool how it kinda "passed the torch." Too bad the second one dropped it and started a forest fire.
Annie

The first one wasn't so bad. I really enjoyed the second and didn't care much for the third.
But the whole Scream idea was a great one, nonetheless.
