Friday the 13th part 4: The Final Chapter. It has Corey Fieldman on acting. And the great effects by Tom Savini. Who the hell wouldn't love this movie???!!!!

I'm a fan of the 'hated' sequels:
Jason Takes Manhattan
A New Beginning
but I'm going to vote for: Part 3. I just like this one for some reason. It always keeps me watching. Best Kills go to Part 8, but all around best goes to Jason Lives.
Part 3 will get the vote though.

i love all of these movies with a passionate lust!!
i cant choose one favorite, but i will say that parts 4,6, and FvsJ are some of my favorites, but my favorites for this series kinda shifts around over time.
honorable mention to the first 4 movies though.
the FT13th series as a whole is my favorite horror series. Halloween has my favorite horror movie in it though (part 2)

gotta love 4 and 5 :)
part 4 is the darkest . its how ALL f13 films should be

Fridays 1-4 and Freddy vs Jason...
I definitely prefer the cycle dealing with the first four, but out of those I'd pick part 2. Basically Jason was a campfire myth come to life, a living ghost story.
He was creepy, you never saw a lot of him, and that pillow sack mask is just unnerving. :p

this was a tough call for me. like the others have said, it was between 1-4 and i picked 4. corey feldman shaving his head and hacking jason to death was pretty disturbing to me.

i think it would be cool if they took a risk and brought back the pillow sack mask. not necessarily for an entire movie, but it would be a nice nod to the first jason movie.

It wouldn't fly now though, Jason was brand new then, and his hockey mask is now an icon.
Some people may not know his name, or history, but that mask is always known.

They did, in a way, in Freddy vs Jason. When Lori is dreaming and sees the kids teasing and chasing after Jason at Camp Crystal Lake, one of them throws a sack over Jason's head.

Part 2.
Warrington Gillette did a fine job as the very first full length Jay.
His look in the film has yet to be surpassed.
The ending had a great scare, and Stu Charno was brilliant as Ted.
Sandra wasnt too bad,'Ither :p

Depends on what Im in the mood for.
If I had to pick it would be a toss up between 3 & 6

I will have to go and say Part 7 is the best, in my eyes. I just wish it wasn't cut so damn much - some parts are a bit annoying 'cause of that, but I still think it's the best.
I would have said Part 6 - but that's too cliche!

JASON LIVES IS THE BEST, NO HOLDS BARRED ON THAT ONE!

I would have to say it's a tie between part 2 and the Final Chapter.
Jason was his scariest in part 2, however, the burlap sack over his head is downright freaky, much scarier than a man in mask IMO>
The final chapter was a much darker, brutal film, Classic Jason.
Although parts 1 and 3 could easily fit into my favorite category.

one thing that urks me is when fans say "part 6 was a comedy" ITS NOT A FUCKING COMEDY !!! for gods sake. whats so "funny" or "comedical " about it ? its not like evil dead. so therefore i think part 6 was an actual horror film

My vote goes for The Final Chapter. Next would have to be 1, 2, 3, 6 then 7.
I think the best Friday the 13th is NO. 3.
I enjoyed every min of it....realy cool and is also the debut of Jason wearing his hockey mask.

F13 Part 3 is the best. Jason gets his mask and we get to see more of his personality. #3 all the way!! BTW anyone know how to get the 3D version on DVD??
Silverpsycho
10-19-2004, 02:18 AM
I picked 3 since it's the first hockey masked Jason...courtesy of my fave non-Jason character Shelly ;)
Plus...Jason is in 3D!!!!! LOL, it is so damn cheesy, it works! I love Part 3 the most...it's just fun to watch.

Ebay.
You'll have to buy the sequential 3D shutter glasses, and box for it to work as well.
Just do a search for it, and it should come up for sale.

I always wondered how the scene in which Jason crashes his last victim head untill an eye pops out would look with those glasses on.

I enjoy nearly them all, but I have to say Part VI: The New Blood. Even though the editing does suck in parts, it's the effects and the whole Tina turning the tables on Jason with her powers that really make this movie for me. :)

I have no fucking clue why, but A New Beginning has been getting the most play time out of all the DVDs in the new boxset. Its just so whacky and different...it makes it really enjoyable. The plot twist at the end, is what I really liked.
You guys can hound me for it, but I am going with ANB.

LMAO...I figured you were the other ANB vote on the poll.
I was always a closet ANB fan. Back in the day, a friend of mine and I would always rent it, due to the extreme amounts of nudity in this particular sequal. I guess all those viewings rubbed off on me. I have watched it 3 weekends in a row.
It really came down between 5 and 6...and for some reason my gut told me to vote ANB.

Ah yes, good point...loaded-gun Tommy, what will he do next? Beat the brains outa the shitting black guy or karate chop the hillbilly on the motor bike? The guy was frickin unpredictable, and kickass for that matter.

Another thing i liked. The deaths were just there to be there. Like the greaser guys. The deputy and the waitress, the chicken coop guy.etc. But it was alll good. I only wish they would of kept Violets alternate death scene. Or at least of filmed it and made it a deleted scene. :(

I was kinda glad Violet got it...her robot dance was pissing me off. LoL. But that song in the backround that she was dancing to was fucking tits.

Well that song is Pseudo Echo"His eyes" if you didnt know. :) And originally it was written that violet would be a little aerobic hard body (sorta like pat benatar). She was supposed to be doing scissor leg-lifts when Ray comes in and cuts her in two..length-wise.;) Well the director assessed the blood and gore and decided it wasnt gonna fly for the censors. So they rewrote it for her to be doing her New-wave dance she does. Heres a behind the scenes pic of what we could of gotten. http://www.campcrystallake.com/bts/part5/tiff/1.htm

as a newbie to this series (yes I bought the boxset and have watched them all recently). Jason Lives is by far the best. Why? I find that its a better movie. And I laughed my ass off when I was watching the interview w/ Kane Hodder & John Carl Buechler when they said that Kane is the best Jason because he brought personality to him. WHAT PERSONALITY!?!?! The only Jason that had a personality was in Jason Lives. That actor/stuntman had great movement and expressions. Also mind you it's the only Jason film that I can respect (other than the 1st one) cause they are at the camp and there are KIDS there! It has a good blend of humor and horror. I loved this one and if I were to watch any Friday the 13th movie all the way through again & again, it would be this one. Congrats on Tom McLoughlin.

3 because he got the hockey mask and some chick got shot in the eye with a harpoon gun. or 4, cause of corey feldman and gorge mcfly and the famously overacted he's killing me scene. or 7, he was badass with the chain around his neck.

I would either have to pick the original Friday the 13th or Freddy vs. Jason. The first friday started and totally redefined the splatter/slasher films but freddy vs. Jason was totally awsome with the great killings.

Damn!!! Not degrading anyone cause "to each his own" but someone not having one of Friday 1-4 in their "favorite" list has a screw loose;) Sure some of them after Pt.4 were OK for their own reason but saying "it was fun" or "it had some comedy" just doesn't sound like that should be a reason to pick it as a favorite HORROR. It depends how you want to interpret things I guess, but as far as I'm concerned Jason never drowned.
He lived as a hermit for years, saw his mom killed, and began his "mission". He was just tough, and hard to kill, but Tommy did it in TFC.

Wow that's a pretty odd statement to make considering Pamala said she was working the day it happened so she had to see the outcome of that day, unless maybe Jason ran away and Pam got it in her head that he drowned and then flipped out..........but i don't like that either.

I don't know if she was there to see it, (if so, why wouldn't she jump in to save him) or if what we saw was just something in her minds eye.
I'm guessing she ended up hearing about it after the fact, and the rest is history. Pam was also a loon, so I don't know how much of what she relates to Alice is what she saw, or "sees".

I like all of the Friday the 13th films with Kane Hodder in it, which include Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood, Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan, Jason Goes to Hell - The Final Friday, and Jason X. I like all of the other movies also, including Freddy vs. Jason, but the Kane Hodder movies are my favorite.

The most hilarious Friday the 13th films were Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning and Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives. These funny quotes from Part V come from a character named Ethel Hubbard: 1) "Would you shut the fuck up?" 2) "Now, I'm gonna tell all of you: You mark my words, the next little bastard comes near my farm, I'm gonna blow your fucking brains out. You hear me?" 3) "You big dildo. Eat your fucking slop. Ain't I make the best goddamn stew in the whole wide world?" 4) "Holy shit! Who the fuck are you and what the fuck do you want?" 5) "Are you hearing me, boy? Get off that fucking bike and come here and eat my stew!"... lol That is way too funny. Now for Part VI. In the scene where Tommy Jarvis is with this cop's daughter (Megan) hiding in her car while she is driving, notice what Tommy is doing. Megan has his head near her vagina and Tommy is staring. lol

I thought I would just let everyone know that some of the Friday the 13th movies contain goof-ups. For example, if you watch Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan, they will show you flashbacks of Jason Voorhees when he was a child. That couldn't have been Jason because he was bald when he was a child. In Part VIII, Young Jason has hair throughout the movie except for the scene where Rennie is driving in a car in New York and sees Young Jason again, but this time bald. Also, there is another scene where Rennie (young) takes swimming lessons, and Young Jason pulls her under the water in the lake. He is bald in this scene also.
Hall9ween

Maybe it all boils down to the fact that Part VIII is a very crappy movie -- low production values and low acting values.

Now, here is something I definitely want to discuss. There are two of the Friday the 13th movies that are very similar, Friday the 13th and Friday the 13th Part III. Part III is very important because of the ending scene where a lady in the lake pulls Chris (a girl) under the water. That lady in the lake is actually Pamela Voorhees if you look at the sweatshirt she is wearing. Now for the important spoiler. Here are the similarities and differences of these two movies:
Similar:
* Part I and III have the same music (some of which comes from Part I).
*In the ending scenes, the survivor (only one left alive) gets pulled under the water in the lake by one of the Voorhees', although it is only a dream (Alice from Part I and Chris from Part III).
Different:
*Pamela Voorhees is the killer in Part I, but Jason Voorhees pulls Alice under the water in the dream. Jason is the killer in Part III, but Pamela pulls Chris under the water in the dream (this probably sounds like a dumb spoiler here).

Maybe Rennie doesn't know what a young Jason looks like and is just envisioning what he looks like in her mind? That wouldn't explain the first instance in the car in NY, but it would explain her being pulled under the water as a child. That scene wouldn't be just a flashback, but also proof that Jason and Rennie has some kind of connection. The others where he has hair is just what she thinks he must look like.

There's an old movie called the Town that Dreaded Sundown that was based on a true story where the killer wore the flour sack. They based Jason's mask on that movie.
I haven't seen the movie, only heard about it. Anyone see it?

Re: Best Jason/Friday The 13th film?
I have changed my list of my favorite Friday the 13th films. Here is the new one:
Jason Goes To Hell - The Final Friday
Freddy vs. Jason
Friday the 13th Part III
Friday the 13th Part II
Friday the 13th
Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning
Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood
Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives
Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter
Jason X
All I did was move several of the films around and replaced Jason X with Jason Goes To Hell - The Final Friday. I like Jason X a little, but it definitely does not have the feeling of a Friday the 13th film. Like I said before, I still like the masks and costumes of Jason Voorhees/Uber Jason. I'm starting to like Jason Goes To Hell - The Final Friday because Joey B. is too damn funny and I like the idea of Jason possessing people and him having a sister, Diana Kimble aka Diana Voorhees.

Jason X. It has the best actual characters of the series as opposed to just having lambs to the slaughter, it has the best death scenes, the best overall production value, and I love a horror film that isn't afraid to admitt it's not scary and just tries to be entertaining.

Yeah exactly. I don't think there really are any horror films that truly scare me. I believe the only ones are Exorcist and Blair Witch Project (which I consider loosely as horror films because they are on a different level horror wise). I whole heartedly agree that I watch most horror for entertainment value because if it were all about the scares, then I would only own a couple horror films. I will admit that I have never been afraid of Michael, Jason or Freddy, as they are all just fun characters to watch.

I hope you will all pardon the comments of someone new to the series...
I'd have to say that the best Friday the 13th film in the series is either 4 or 2 (4 gets my vote, though). Part 4 had the best mood, while part 2 had the most believable characters. In both movies, Jason is threatening without being goofy, as he is at the end of part 3. Parts 3 and 5 look too much like a made-for-TV movie to me, with bad camera angles, characters who are imbeciles, no sense of drama or suspense, and too much action taking place during the daylight.
Part 6 is just a fun movie, and one of the most "watchable", for me, of all the Friday the 13th movies. I get the impression that it doesn't try to do or be anything other than entertaining. The zombie Jason in part 6 is the best "undead" Jason, since he doesn't get too over the top.
However, and this is where I get into trouble, I would have to say that both my favorite movie with Jason in it, and the best movie with the character of Jason Voorhees in it, is "Freddy vs. Jason". Say what you will about this film, but the writers at least stuck with the essence of the character, and left aside a lot of unnecessary bullshit (a futuristic cyborg? a body hopping homicidal spirit? a heart full of a black viscous fluid? a family tree more convoluted than a Gordian knot? please!!). The stripped down, leaner, meaner Jason, combined with the very high production values, of "Freddy vs. Jason", to me, marks the apex of Jason Voorhees' cinematic life.

I couldin't decide between part 4, or part 6. But I eventually went with part 4. Part 4 is an authentic, cheesy horror film, while part 6 has too much of a humorous undertone.

Hello everyone, I'm new on this board. :)
I like Part 3 the most, although part 6 is right up there. But I think that part 6 had too little gore.. a lot of the kills were off-screen, and you didn't sort of.. se the effect of what Jason does.

Im not a huge fan of the F13 series but I wasn't entertained at all by Jason X. Freddy vs Jason was kinda funny but Jason X was just retarded. The only decent idea in that movie was the revamping of Jason. It might even be worse that Jason Takes Manhattan...I thought that was terrible. I didnt know that toxic waste could turn an undead piece of flesh into a crying little boy, but I guess you learn something new every day.

Well the part with Alice and Jason was supposed to be a dream if that could explain it. They didn't plan to have a Part 2 at the time so they figured one last scare in the film would be cool. Only if someone whould've planned on a part 2 at the time then they could've had a more grown up Jason come outta the lake.

Lemme tell you, Part 4 is fucking amazing, and imo techincally, is the best "F13". But I listed 'my favorites' for some reason. Best = Part 4 / Fave = Parts 6/8
But Parts 1-3 are SUPER-GIGANTICALLY overrated as films. 2's ok, but i'm a Jason fan, so it's hard to watch 1 for me, and 3 was just fucking dumb.

Hey Vincent, how did you feel for the barn setting? I think a lot of respect is given to part III for introducing Jason as we all know today, with a hockey mask.
MyersFan927
07-27-2005, 04:52 PM
The barn setting was a good move for Friday 3 as it provided a welcome change of pace, and some nice atmosphere. The next best aspect of 3 is that Jason has at last found a permeanant look with the hockey mask: the sack wasn't bad, but it didn't cut the ice. So yeah, there are some things that can be admired about that one. I just felt the deaths were too over the top, the characters not as interesting as the previous ones - plus Final Chapter, and that Jason's picking up his mask near the end with a stupid grin (in the midst of running around like a fool) cheapened it up. Also, the 3-D effects seemed to take a self-priority to the point where it pretty much dumbed down the movie and proved (at least to me) that a Friday chapter is not the right place for that type of special process. So far, this one had the most potential. Yet I see a few redeeming qualities.

Violet has the best death scene in the hole F13 franchise to me;)
The actor who played Jason in Pt 3, Richard Brooker was great as Jason the way he managed to walk with his leg "injured" was very cool and in the barn scene when he acts very angry was also nicely done hes defently one of the best Jasons althought I prefer the more chilling Ted White in F13 Pt 4
