Looks awesome. Is there a place you can get the back issues? What issue # are they on now? What is the full title so we can search for them. The artwork looks amazing.

Issues 1-6 are almost impossible to find now and if you do they're pretty expensive but they've collected those issues in a TPB which isn't too expensive. The newest issue thats coming out in a few weeks will be #12 but a new TPB consisting of issues 7-12 will be out in November I believe.I've seen the TPB's at Amazon.

This is an awesome comic. I've been with it since #1 and WISH I would have picked up extra copies of the early issues. Keep in mind that even though zombies are around....the comic is more about the characters and survival.

Holy cow!!! That comic looks incredible!!! Thanks for the wicked cool pick Ravenheart! Hell, I want a poster of that w/out even having read a single issue...or page for that matter...lol.
Now I will have to go pick up the TPB at amazon! Seriously, I want to read them now! Thanks again for posting! I have been waiting for another good series of comics but I havn't really had the time to search out comic stores.

I just went to amazon.com and I am crapping my pants!!! They allow you to preview the inside of the book and it only costs $10!!! Sounds like a terrific deal to me! I just want to clarify/confirm with everyone that it's the "Walking Dead" by Robert Kirkman right? Thanks :D

I've got every issue. It is a truly great comic book that emphasizes deep characterization and totally captures the feel of a Romero flick. To say that I look forward to each upcoming issue is an understatement.

The Walking Dead.............best damn comic out there right now.

The last two issues came in rapid succession. This series is still as solid as ever. I don't want to ruin anything for people that haven't read it yet, but I will say that I am rather excited that the group has finally found a base of operations.

I just finished the first volume in TPB and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It took awhile but I finally got to finish it since it's break time from classes (well I go back on Monday :(). I would of had the thing done and read with if I didn't have so much assigned reading...remind me why I am an English major...LOL. :D

I just ordered the second volume off of amazon and I am beyond psyched to receive it in the mail. I havn't been this excited with comic books since I got into "The House of Secrets"...which is an awesome vintage series that are basically tales like those found in "Tales From the Crypt."

I am really hooked onto the "Walking Dead" series now. I may go out and pick up individual comics of this as well since I love the artwork. It's much better than the adaptation of Dawn of the Dead done by Steve Niles. I mean that one is neat, but nowhere near as awesome as "The Walking Dead"!

Silverpsycho
01-05-2005, 05:15 AM
I have a question concerning the individual comics for The Walking Dead. Are the separate ones in full color on the inside or black, white and gray-tones like the volume releases?

I may grab a few individual ones since I love the cover art alone. Some have such vibrant colors and look pretty nifty.

I just received my 2nd TPB today and I can't wait to read it cover to cover! :D

Thanks for clearing that up for me zombie commando ;)

I too like the black & white. I also prefer the art done by Tony Moore more than Charlie Adlard when it comes to the pencil work. I noticed right away that there was a difference in style. It's not too bad of change but I really enjoyed Moore's artwork. Either way, they are incredible and I am getting a little too anxious for the third TPB. I guess I will just have to reread the first two a couple times before the third comes out...which may take awhile I guess. Plus...I just love the Afterword given by Simon Pegg. That was awesome. :D

There are two different Walking Dead comics. The first Walking Dead comic fell off the face of the earth some years ago, but you can still find the occassional back issue floating around the 25 cents bins.

There is far too much time between issues. The series is already behind as it is; I wonder what the hold up is.

For anybody looking to fill up the gaps of time between issues I would suggest reading Deadworld, yet another zombie comic from image. Apparently it was a long standing series before Walking Dead kicked off, and this new series is a remake of the events of the previous series. I dig the motorcycling "King Zombie" from the first issue, and I really hope this piece takes off.

Just got issue 21, and was totally blown away. This is my favorite comic right now. I love the way the group has tossed their "laws" which were really just left overs from a previous, now dead society in favor of survival. It's left a nice moral gray area in which I am sure the survivors will end up butting heads about in the near future.

Rick's descent into darkness has apparently begun to affect his once close zombie killing pal Tyresse, and I can see them duking it out thunderdome style in the near future.

I hope Allen lives, that guy has seen alot, but I bet if he does survive he'll be more useless than tits on an ox.

This is way too suspenseful for me right now and I have been thinking about breaking my "only going to buy the graphic novels" (bulk of 6 issues per book) habit because now I really, really want to catch up with Rick and the crew. This is by far my most favorite comic series ever and I can't get enough. I just wish the GN's could be a little faster. Whenever I get a new one, I go back and read the previous ones again before reading the new content. I enjoy these just as much as watching the original Dawn...which is huge for me.

I am happy enough with the paperback collections and the price for those are just right. If you grab one ZC...you have to share pics. I received my fourth volume "Heart's Desire" in the mail yesterday and read it cover to cover a little too fast. Man, the story is getting even better and a whole lot more darker. I still wish Tony Moore was doing the illustrations though because it was so much easier to differentiate all the characters with his cartooney style. Either way...I am all set for the next volume.

I am happy that I have been buying the TPB rather than the single issues because I like reading a large chunk at a time...even if I have to wait for it. The only thing I really feel I am missing out on would be the cover art in color of the single issues. However, the price just cannot be beat for the volumes.

Comment written by ROBERT KIRKMAN cover by CLIFF RATHBURN For your reading pleasure we present the complete, unedited, scripts for the sold-out first six issues of THE WALKING DEAD. If you think the issues were wordy - just wait until you see what they look like without pictures! See what changed, see what stayed the same - see completely different lines of dialogue that were later improved. RETAILER WARNING: MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR ALL AGES

Walking Dead #26

http://www.forbidden-planet.co.uk/acatalog/WD026.jpg

Big shit is on the horizon, I can feel it. I can sense some sort of impending tragedy as well. Kirkman seemed to hint in the fan mail pages that the group has been getting a little too comfortable in the company of the zombies.....that they are begining to overlook the underlining threat in the face of personal soap operas.

The ending left me frothing for more. I really wonder if that one prisoner that got away (the name escapes me at the moment) started his own band of people out in the woods, or if the zombies got the survivors of the crash..........

Yup, I'm disappointed and bummed. Amazon sent me an e-mail stating it won't be shipped until the beginning of April but that may get pushed back as well. Then again, I guess it's worth the suspense because I do go through them seriously fast. Maybe I should start ahead and read the previous five volumes and then hope the sixth volume will actually be on its way in early April. So yeah I am pretty annoyed but it will be all worth it when it eventually shows. I am so involved with these characters and I care where they all end up, but I really hope I get to know more sooner than later. Yup....I got the same email. :( I knew it was coming. I don't think I have ever heard of a company who does not release their product like this company does. The comics have been done for awhile. Well Amazon claims that the latest issue should be out by now (April 11th) but there is no sign of shipment yet. Also Amazon says that it will take 4 - 5 weeks to ship...what the hell?! I'm not mad at Amazon, I'm just mad that the flippin' company producing these comics is so flippin' slow. They say one date and then push it way way back. I wish they wouldn't guarantee anything by a certain date because those hopes are always dashed. I'm still psyched to get this...I'm just sick of the games and all the waiting. Hopefully this volume will be released sometime this month because I'd like to keep the story going. The gaps between the releases is getting to be a bit extreme and tiresome.

Oh my gosh what a joke! I guess once I see the cover that's been chosen, I just assume it's pretty much finished and put together. If we have to wait an additional month/s rather than just days or a couple weeks...arg, it just makes me annoyed! Well, thanks for the link Clark.

That new wait we have seems like forever away. I always forget a good portion of the overall story before the next volume is released. I always reread all the ones I have before a new volume but I go through them so fast...I guess I should wait a bit longer before going ahead and doing just that.

I am so confused with the whole Amazon thing that I went and looked at other sellers through the site and bought a new copy from someone else. It's on its way and I can't wait to get it! I was not about to wait 1 - 3 months for shipping from Amazon. I'm kind of happy when my order was cancelled when I forgot to respond to an e-mail Amazon sent. Silverpsycho

I noticed Amazon changed their shipping from 1-3 months estimate to being sent out in a much shorter amount of time. Why does this always happen right after I choose to do something else?! These graphic novels are really beginning to irritate me! I'm hoping the seller I bought mine from in Amazon has it out in the mail so I can have it during the week. I'm just growing so impatient for this thing.

Yeah, my Barnes and Noble is pretty crappy on keeping up on their graphic novels section. Whenever I go to check it out, they usually only have The Walking Dead Volume 2 in stock and I've never seen any of the others. I really can't imagine a ton of people going into Barnes and Noble in my area to grab a copy either. I'm curious if Borders has all the issues because I recall them having a much better selection of graphic novels and stuff like that. I just find Borders to be kind of sloppy though, as nothing is ever in order at my nearest location.

I'm just annoyed at thinking how volume 5 was obnoxious to get, volume 6 being even worse...so what will volume 7 be like?! Hopefully they will become less of a hassle to get in time because they've got to know how pushing the date aggravates the fans.

Superman
05-13-2007, 05:21 PM
I honestly think they could care less. As long as they get their money, they could make it next summer for all they care.

Silverpsycho

Today is a day of frickin' celebration! I finally have received the sixth volume! Unfortunately I have a ton of studying to do before tomorrow but I will most likely ditch it a little so I can breeze through this volume. Hopefully I can hold out a little because what I like to do is read through the past ones first before diving into the new one just to once again brush up on everything that has happened. I am pretty damn anxious though, as it's been forever since I read the fifth volume.

Once again, I hope all of you who are still without volume six manage to get a hold of it soon...or at least find the regular comics. I truly wish I had a decent comic book shop nearby. It would make everything a whole lot easier than just bitching about the next tpb and dealing with Amzon and online hassles.

It would make everything a whole lot easier than just bitching about the next tpb and dealing with Amzon and online hassles.

what's on the cover?

Hmm, I'm hoping that is just a fan's post of issue #37, as that is the same cover for that particular issue. I'm loving the ongoing zombie army with color bars and different scenes pertaining to that volume. I'm psyched to see that volume 7 is at least on Amazon, but I'm not holding my breath. I think I'll just try and find the closest comic shop instead of all that Amazon hassle again. I know the last volume was released before Amazon got a hold of it. It's not their fault and they have terrific prices...but when I want my Walking Dead...I want it now damnit! :yar:

Lol, yeah I read through this new volume waaaay too fast. It's so agaonizing to have to wait for so long until the next one is released. Once it's in your hands though...it's all seriously worth it.

In terms of the story, I was shocked when Carol commit suicide by allowing herself to just be bitten by the test zombie. I also thought Dale was a goner for sure when he got bitten too, but I'm happy he's still around. Also, wow...what an ending!!! I was like NO! You can't just stop there! :godno:

Yeah, you must definitely get The Walking Dead comics, as they are brilliant in my opinion. It feels like one of Romero's films...but thankfully it doesn't end as quickly.

Besides those, you may enjoy Marvel Zombies and even though they are not "zombies," maybe you should try 28 Days Later: The Aftermath since it connects 28 Days to 28 Weeks...and most zombie fans enjoy the infected almost as much, if not equally.

That's strange the comic store clerk told you there are no zombie comics out there because most comic stores I pay a visit to tell me that zombies and vampires are their bestsellers and they can't keep them in stock. However, the shop you visit may be unaware if they are only into the superhero scene. Some shops are like that around me and they give you strange looks if you are into horror comics.

So yeah Dark Chaos, go buy yourself some Walking Dead graphic novels or the single issues and get back to us. We could always use another poster in here!

I know what you are talking about with the bizarre look you get when you ask about horror comics or fangoria. I'm hopefully going to another comic book store this weekend to search for these comics. It seems when comic book stores move into a mall they get weird, the one I went to has no anime no star wars one half of the store has all nascar memorabilia and the other half all super hero comics. As soon as I get a chance to pick one up I will get back to everyone.

And I'm disappointed you don't enjoy Walking Dead enough to continue reading it. I've been reading and enjoying them from the begining. as for F13, why cant they just make a good comic about Jason without all the bullshit?

the best arc was The "Pamela's Tale" arc. that rocked.... But i think the other were mediocre at best. Now if Stefan Huthinson was writing some F13 comics then u will see what Jason is all about. Trust me....that man knows his charecters!

zombie commando

I agree. He's a great writer, but I don't think Friday the 13th has ever been known for meaningfull or innovative storytelling. Not that I'd mind if the plot was deeper than a mud puddle, but as far as the comic is concerned I thought they have been doing a decent job at approaching the mythos of Jason from different angles.

As far as Walking Dead is concerned this series struck when the zombie genre was pretty much dead and buried for the better part of the 90's. There wasn't many new ideas coming out and the zombie stories being told were retreading old ideas over and over again. Walking Dead has been original in the way it approaches the survival horror aspect of a zombie invasion, especially for comic books (excluding DeadWorld). I think that any horror fan can appreciate that.

Black Sunshine

Yea black sunshine. Thatís exactly it. Look what Stefan has done with the Halloween comics. Itís got gore and great story telling. I donít think F13 has to be that shallow mud puddle. This is purely opinion but it seems to me the story starts ok and goes nowhere. Seems like more cashing in with little effort on quality.
As far as Walking Dead aside from zombies, which I love, itís cool how character driven it is. In their own way the characters all mean something to the plot. Good stuff.

Do you guys really want serious, deep meaning Friday the 13th stories? I always considered the franchise to be light, popcorn gore fun. Not to say that you can't write it better, just that Jason has never been a really cerebral type killer. Maybe something will change once they start adapting the remake universe into comic form.

The new Walking Dead ruled. So the group has to deal with cannibals and zombies now. People are going to end up as the lunch special one way or another.

it doesnt have to be meaningful, but then it would quickly get boring too. add some much neede flavor to the mix... and it will be a prize winner. F13 has alot of potential to be a real mind bending psychotic ride.

AMC will indeed have to keep on par with FCC regulations, but I have a feeling they are really going to try and push the bar as much as they can. It seems they are really serious about the source material and want to put a great deal of effort forth in adapting the series to the fans' liking. I'll admit, I enjoyed the issues that I read, but I found the part where they are in the jail a little boring. So, I stopped reading. But I think the idea is amazing that there will actually be a syndicated TV show about zombies...that shits intense! I will definitely be tuning in.

I'm on the same page with you about Dexter, ZC.... Everybody rants and raves about it (mostly chicks)...saying how amazing it is.
