*A retarded man is unjustly accused of killing a young girl. Disguised as a scarecrow, he hides in a cornfield, only to be hunted down and shot. Later, members of the search posse are killed by a mysterious scarecrow.*

I love this movie and catch it everytime its on TV.I've seen the VHS on Ebay and have bid on it quite a few times but I always end up losing it at the last second. If this ever gets a DVD release,I'll definately be picking it up.

I remember seeing this flick when I was about 12-13 on TV. Not too shabby at all! I reccomend all horror film fanatics t give it a try. Were there ever any sequels to this movie??

Don't confuse the 1981 Dark Night of the Scarecrow with Night of the Scarecrow which was made in 95 and has a completely different story than the "message" the other tries to convey.

Dark Night of the Scarecrow is a cool little flick. It uses suspense and tension to build a nice creepy movie. Larry Drake is perfect as Bubba. I remember a few years ago there was some talk about making a sequel or even a remake of the film. I would love to see what they could come up with.

I know, but I'm just saying if anyone was to go out to pick up the DVD, you wouldn't want to mix the two up.

i thought i posted here already, i guess it was the other board. i really liked this movie though. the first time i saw it i had to change the channel because i was pretty creeped out. both amazon and half.com have used vhs for sale, but the cheapest one is about $30. seems like a title that would be perfect for anchor bay to release on dvd.

I just watched my import dvd of it a few days ago. I really love the atmosphere of the film. I wish someone would do a proper dvd of it though, as my bootleg is only vhs quality.

so the quality of it isn't that great?..i seen it listed on ebay and thought of buying it...guess i still will considering i have little choice :(

DarknessBDJM

It's just plain vhs quality, a bit grainy, and the sound isn't that great either.
If you can get it cheap, pick it up. We don't know how long it will take to get a proper dvd, and you can always sell the bootleg after you get the proper dvd.

Ok Sharkster, this is for you :)

Oh wow, they're doing an SE and Blu-Ray.
Doesn't say when in 09 though. Must investigate.

I see they re-did the cover too, that's a bummer though.

Great little movie. Drake and Durning are both very good.
The scenes where his mother hides him and when he's discovered are heart breaking but kind of funny at the same time.

I'll never forget going to visit my cousins in Canada and they just rented this one over and over and over. We loved it.

There was some chit chat about this movie a little while back, I remember posting a link to a website that let you watch it online. I think the posts were lost in the board crash though. I'm excited about the dvd release, this movie freaked me out when I was a kid.
