I checked through the whole forum, and I couldn't find a thread on the mask.

So, what do you guys think of the mask? I actually like the dirty look.

Although it would've been nice to have it clean, though.

I liked it. For this movie, it fits. But honestly, I liked it better when it was first introduced versus the rest of the movie.

I said It's Okay. I did like it at the begining of the movie and when Michael digs it out of the floor, however somewhere between that it did not look right. Although it was not enough for me to say that I hate it.

I liked the mask, but I would've prefered it clean white through out.

I like it, especially the aged version. It kind of helps with the whole Frankenstein-like feel of the remake Michael Myers.

It grew on me pretty quick. It was something new and I accepted it. By the time the movie came out I was glad to see they put in the clean version as well. Once Terry at CGP made the kissfan rotted mask I bought one really quick. Only thing is as most of us know that latex would never last like that in the ground. It would have gotten so stiff it would literally break into tiny little peaces but it's movie magic folks. :) one thing I love on the mask is on the left eye hole, how it has the cuts above and below the eye. Fucking awesome looking when he is looking down at Laurie in the pool scene.

I'm still pissed that they never mass-marketed a mask made from the Zombie film's mold. They said they were going to, but never did. They should've sold both dirty and clean versions. The clean one would've been the closest to the H1 mask consumers would ever get.

So yeah...I liked the mask. Best since '78.

It just sucks, because with all the "official" Myers masks for sale out there, NONE of them look like the mask in H1. When they said they were gonna sell RZH masks, I was pretty damn excited to pick one up. BOTH, if they sold both versions (which they said they would). It'd be nice to have an official mask that actually LOOKS like Michael Myers.

I liked the mask, but I thought young Michael looked kind of goofy wearing it while chasing Judith. It would have been nice it they had marketed a version of it. I want to get a new Myers mask this season, but it looks like I'll have to settle for the recent Don Post one.

That makes two of use still pissed. I was on Halloweentown.com every week looking for news on that movie mold mask that was said to be offered as Zombie signed and everything. Was waiting on that forever it seemed then they come out with this DP version signed by Zombie. That sucks major ass. NECA was making one out of the movie mold now they have stopped production on it. had a sculpt out and everything..but no. The poor mold is just sitting there when a great artist like Terry Lambert or somebody could make one hell of a movie accurate mask with it.

Pisses me the fuck off. ;) maybe Sean Clark will get it someday and we can have the Mane Signature series mask.?

Not if they used the same molds. They did that with the licensed H:R mask, and it looked just like the one in the film. Problem is, of course, that mask SUCKS. haha

It's just pathetic that with the available resources, they can't release ONE fucking mask that looks like the original. It's not like it can't be replicated to a reasonable extent. Indie maskmakers and the Zombie film both proved that it could be done. They just don't fucking CARE, obviously. If they did, they'd do it right.

I would've perferred it, yes, because that's the way it was in the other movies (except the second one). But to see that a "dirty" mask was ultimately used, it doesn't bother or surprise me as much as I thought it would. When I first saw it in a promotional pic, I rolled my eyes and said, "Only Rob Zombie." But I was impressed.

you would be suprised how many of the myers masks have a kind of weathered look to em. even the classic H1 had a few little weathered spots on it around the nose, lips. and a sorta flesh tone color on the neck.

I didn't see any real need for Michael to have worn the mask when he was a kid. Zombie apparently wanted to make it more significant to Michael instead of just something he grabbed out of a hardware store. I think that's just one of the things that RZ over thought.

EvilOnTwoLegs

Um... nope.

Actually, it does. And even more so in H2, where there were more scuff marks and a lot of the mask's original flesh tone was peeking through the white paint. It's not all that noticeable, because most of the scenes are lit "dark"...but there was quite a bit of wear on the mask by H2.

I liked it...A LOT.

Despite over a decade of rotting underneath the Myers house (which, IMO, added more depth to it) it was very much the iconic Michael Myers.

It looked more like Michael Myers then any of the masks from H4-H8...

The Mask is literally the icing on the cake when it comes to Zombie's Michael...which I personally can't get enough of. Through Zombie's depiction, the Shape is at his most brutal, relentless and evil since the original film.

Carpenter's Michael, being a Carpenter creation, will always be king...but out of all the Michaels, Zombie's is the one I'd most want to NOT run into.

I think it represents the movie well. It's the original Halloween mask, recreating it nicely, and then making it dirty, torn and nasty. Just like the way this movie is the original movie, made to be darker and more disturbing.

I like this answer, and I pretty much go along with it. Though the other masks in the other films seemed to fit the movies, this mask, to me, fit the dirtiness of it and Rob's style all around.

I'm honestly surprised at the amount of people that actually like it. I thought most would bash it like some of the other masks in the series.

Yeah, when the remake was first announced, I was expecting a lot of heat to come in over the design of the mask.

Wayne Toth did an awesome job with both versions of this mask. Though I prefer the clean version, the rotted one does look rather cool and Frankenstein-ish.

Though I didn't care for Rob's remake, I really was impressed by the mask and the look of Myers.

Interesting, contrived, whatever.

Hmph. Well I cordially invite you to suck it then.

Actually I would agree it's a tad contrived, or at the very least a bit unrealistic. But getting the mask back in the middle of his first killing spree made for some sweet symbolism. Along with the digging it back up. I dug that new wrinkle a bunch.

Should've been more of a moment when he first found it though. Daeg slapped it on like it was a baseball cap or somethin.

(Not that he still isn't the greatest actor of all time or anything.)

Interesting, contrived, whatever.

People who defend Rosenthal's H2 shouldn't throw around terms like "contrived." :p

I'll attack or defend any entry in the series if the moment calls for it. And yes, Halloween II is hopelessly contrived. No doubt about it. That doesn't make RZH any less contrived.

Eh, I'd say it's at least a bit less contrived. haha

To clarify, I meant "less contrived than it already is," not "less contrived than Halloween II."

Ahhhhh...good clarification there. Makes way more sense that way.

WHAT?!?!?!?! For me, he was the thing that made the first half of the movie so god awful. I mean cmon, Michael Myers is not a little fat kid!

Daeg is such a pro he gained that weight just for the role, yep yep. Check his audition tape.

This MM was apparently a fattie. A femmy fattie too.

He looked pretty fat in hancock too.

Ouch. If Daeg is considered a fat kid, then I must be about twenty years behind.

He was a little chubby in the film, but I think that makes sense. He's a kid. He still has some baby fat. Let's give him a break.

Also, pretty sure he doesn't look like that now after he hit puberty.

Daeg has grown into one big fucker nowadays. When I say "big" I'm talking Tyler Mane type of big, and not Kirstey Alley type of big.

Yeah...it's funny to think back to all the people who said in 2007, "It was so unbelievable that little Daeg Faerch could ever grow into huge Tyler Mane...how ridiculous!" Now Daeg and Tyler are roughly the same height.

But come on, the kid's got fuckin' Viking blood running through this veins...he was destined to be tall as fuck.

Michael Voorhees

It's still fucking crazy to think that Daeg is about the same size as Tyler now, & will probably hit that 6'7-6'9 mark when it's all said & done.

I actually like the mask and it's among the best ask of the series Part 4,5,7 & 8 all have terrific mask while in my opinon I didn't like the mask in John Carpenter's Halloween 1,Rick Rosenthal's Halloween II & Halloween The Curse of Michael Myers because they looked tiny and weren't terrifying at all.

To me that film is flawless. Sure I may like the mask in RZ's films but that doesn't mean I like it.

The Vikings raped their way through Scotland more thoroughly than pretty much anywhere else, and the average height of a man there today is only 5'9"; the whole "OMG, Vikings were SOOOOO tall" line is bogus. The average height of a Viking age Norseman was five foot ten. And don't tell me that everyone else back then was that freakin' short, because they just weren't.

I feel the complete opposite. H1 was of course the basis of the mask, which we all appreciate and love. H2's wasn't bad. H6's was a much needed improvement after 4 and 5's horrible masks. H20 didn't have a good mask. H:R's was ugly and looked like he was pooping throughout the film. RZH's mask was the best (before aged or course) since the original.

I think this had one of the only good masks outside of the original(and that the same goes for RZHII). As such, I wonder why Wayne Toth got it right where so many others had failed.

The one in The Curse of Michael Myers was okay, if lopsided.

I did love the zombie line of Myers masks, zombie made sure the mask Michael wears was serious, and could live up to the original mask. My fave RZ Michael mask? is the exposed mask, something so different about the mask, and we see half of his face, added a different take on the mask

Michael Voorhees

Still my favorite mask in the entire series aside from the original. I'm still very glad that Zombie took the making of the mask seriously, because it's a big part of who Michael is as a character. The only other mask that even came close was the H6 mask. Other than that, the masks seemed to get progressively shittier until RZH & RZH2 came along.

I checked through the whole forum, and I couldn't find a thread on the mask.

So, what do you guys think of the mask? I actually like the dirty look.

Although it would've been nice to have it clean, though.

The dirty mask is actually one of the only things I like about the first Zombie film, he completely ruined it in the sequel mind

Oh my god you've finally made me realise what it is about that mask that's strange. It really does look ape like ha ha
