friday the 13th or nightmare box set

i wanted to get some opinions on which box set u guys think is better jason's or freddy's

I think any fan would easily say that the Nightmare box set is a TON better. It is. Every extra you could possibly want has been included. It's a great set.

Have the friday one but not the NOES but without even having it i'd say the nightmare set....i was unimpressed with this friday release but i've come to expect nothing else.

The Nightmare set is very thorough, but it is missing a few things. A few years ago there was a two tape set with deleted scenes, fx, and voice tests on it. None of this is on the encyclopedia.

These things were all on the Elite laserdisc, but not used for some reason.

LOL Look at the staff presence here! I'm going to go Nightmare myself. I liked the content of the Friday set, but it wasn't too fun.

Well, you can probably guess which one I'm gonna say is better ;)

But, as pointed out above, the Nightmare Encyclopedia didn't have EVERYTHING that it could and SHOULD have included. Like the deleted scenes of Nightmare 1 from the Elite Laserdisc. The music video for Love Kills by the Vinny Vincent Invasion from Nightmare 4. The Making Of documentaries for Nightmare 4 and Freddy's Dead. The deleted scenes for Freddy's Dead. The 1991 MTV Documentary Special "Slash And Burn: The Freddy Krueger Story". The Theatrical Release Trailers for Nightmare 3 and 5(only had the teaser trailers). The TV spots for Wes Craven's New Nightmare.

The set also failed to include the extended release footage for Nightmare 5.

While the set may be missing all of the above, it is still far superior to the Friday The 13th set released last week. Picture quality for the films is much better due to the fact that each film is on it's own seperate disc, instead of being compressed with another film to fit onto 1 single-layer DVD like the 13th films are.

As well, I don't think the video for "He's Back (The Man Behind The Mask)" by Alice Cooper from Jason Lives is anywhere on the Friday boxed set. If it is, I haven't found it. That is one(of MANY) things that Paramount overlooked that should've been included

The NOES boxset is actually the reason I bought a DVD player in the first place (I had seen a "Coming Soon" commercial on a video--maybe it was "Deep Rising"--and was like -HOLY SHIT!), so the day I bought my DVD player, that was the first DVD I bought. There is no question at all---while its nice to have all the Friday films in a boxset, the attempt was def' halfassed.

I do agree the Nightmare boxset is better. but there's so many! There's a: 5 disc one, 6 disc one, 8 disc one, and a new one that out 2weeks back with 7 discs.

Which one is the best?

The one with 8 disks i have the one with 5 though and bought freddy's dead and new nightmare seperate.

Very well summed up! I haven't actually seen the F13 box, but from what I gather, The NOES box is the one to own (if you had to decide). It was my favourite DVD box until I got the Alien Quadrilogy last Christmas.

And yes - the Alice Cooper video for "Man Behind The Mask" just owns!

I personally don't like any of the elm street films after part 4(Not including New Nightmare). So I would pick the friday box set over the elm street box set.

I agree right here. Even though the Nightmare on Elm Street Boxset as the most extras, and is very thoroghly put together, I have no where near as much fun as I do when I watch the Friday the 13th Boxset. I enjoy the films a lot more, and after all that's the main reason I bought the boxset...for the films.

I own both, and I must say the NOES box set is better in many respects but I have a warm place in my heart for F13th so I am still pleased at what was included. I am sure there will be separate Special Editions of each in future with new extras which I will buy as I am a collector.

First, I don't own either, I have f13 parts 1, 2, 3 ant TFC and NOES 1, 2 and 3 on dvd, but I don't know why everyone is so quick to choose the NOES set. Both sets have special features, deleted scenes, trailers ect, neither has the "Uncut" filsms (NOES 5 is the cut version) and NOES only has 1 or maybe 2 commentary tracks whereas f13 has 4.

i own both box sets and i say that if u r after loads of extras and special stuff hands down freddy wins but i like the jason box set just for the fact that he is the second best killer on erth! (myers is number 1 of course!)
