I've seen all of the movies, and i notice that the story lines obviously dont match up. So my question is what is the best order to watch the whole series?

Depends on the storyline you want to follow. Since I like the Thorn story line I would watch the movies like this:
H1
H2
H4
H5
H6 - PCUT

I think its better to watch the 'revised' storyline.
Halloween
Halloween II
Halloween H20
and watch the first 20 minutes of Halloween Resurrection.
Then watch the original storyline.
Halloween
Halloween II
Halloween 4
Halloween 5
Halloween 6 P Cut.
Then watch Halloween 3 by itself and pretend its not called Halloween 3.

The way of all you speak of H3 sickens me! lol
In perfect order is the way to go, even though the storylines "don't match up". Just have a different mindset when you get to H20. Thorn causes no problem...just the big shift from 6 to 7. It's not so hard in which someone would have to watch them in a non-linear manner.

I perfer to watch them all in order, as in H1 through H:R. I know what's going on. I don't need to watch the story lines unfold in order of continuity.

I watch them in order, and move 3 to the end

Thats what I do.... watching the rest of H:R is not worth it.

Yea i understand whats going on in all of them. I usually watch them all in order and its ok, i just wanted to know if you watched them in a certain order the story would unfold more or just a better viewing experience.

When I had a marathon with my friends we did it the conventional way.
H1
H2
H3
H4
H5
H6
H20
H:Res
We skipped H3 though. It was a long enough night as it was

number 3 had nothing to do with the michael myers plot .. watch 12456 then 7,8 but keep in mind 4,5,6 had nothing to do with 7 or 8.. it's complicated

I usually watch them like this ...
H2O
H8
H1
H2
H4
H5
H6: P-Cut
H3
I do it this way, so I get to watch "H2O" & "H8", but I prefer & consider Parts 4-6 the real story, and the "H6: P-Cut" the real finale to the series. This why I follow that story, and still fit all the films in.

I don't know about you guys, but when it hits this time of the year I enjoy watching each of the films in order of when they were released in the series. Everday since like the middle of this week of started watching one each night, this afternoon I finsihed watching H3, and I think tonite I think a little H4 (my fav sequel) and possibly some H5 will do me some good! I can't wait till HALLOWEEN!!! lol

The order in which they came out is definitely the way to watch it. Unless you don't like a certain movie.

Why do you watch H3 last? That seems like something a lot of people in this thread say they do. Even knowing H3 had nothing to do with Myers, I still had to watch it after 2 and before 4 the first time I saw the whole series. That's the way I still do it today. If I wanted to sit down and watch all of the movies, H3 would be a nice break between the Myers storylines. But after all, to each their own I suppose.

Well, I don't really care. I just use my imagination if something doesn't make sense.

Chronologically, in my opinion, you could swing two ways.
Number 1:
H1
H2
H20
Number 2:
H1
H2
H4
H5
H6
H20
H8 (if you really wanna watch that)
Notice H3 was not included in either of these options. It's alright if you want to watch it independantly, but it is not a part of the Michael Myers' series.

Oddly enough, I do that too. I make up storylines inside my head because a lot of the time the plots are so twisted you have to use your imagination. I think a lot of that is the way its meant to be, too.
Hmmm, all this hatred for the third installment. While yes, it has nothing to do with the Myers storyline, it still is a decent film in its own right.

The only way you can really watch them is in 1-8 order excluding #3. Or you could have some mini-marathons...
1-2-4
5-6-H20-HR
I couldn't watch all 7 of them in one day tho. It'd take way to long and since I've seen all of the movies like a million times, it'd prolly start to get boring towards the end.

I prefer just to watch them in order. So the story lines match up for me anyway. The 4-6 story line ends, then I forget about em and watch H7 and H8.

If it's somebody who has never seen one yet I'd say watch them in the order they came out. 1,2,3,4,5,6th, H20, and the 8th.
Over the years I've watched all of them many times.
1,2,4,5,6 and H20 and 8 I suppose.
4 is better than H20 in my view.
