It has been suggested to me by Laow-Z that I should make a seperate thread for photographs to so with the movie. Its a great idea. Since there have been such a large amount of stills and behind-the-scenes pictures released it seems like the best way to get them all in one place so people can use them for avatars and things like that. Remember that there are potential spoilers in a lot of the pictures so you might want to skip this thread if you want to go in completely fresh come August 31. I believe there is a 10 image maximum per posting so I'll get it started.

I might change my mind later, but I don't like the look of Lynda now. I thought at first she seemed like a great choice, lookwise. Something seems off about her now, though. P.J. Soles was hot. Even watching the original today, I will say she looks amazing in the movie, and the promos. With Kristina Klebe, she is attractive, but she just doesn't have that look that I was hoping for. I hope she can pull off the role though. This picture is giving me that feel.

Not putting the movie down, just looking differently at the casting selection.

I thought Danielle would look the best for the female roles, but I think Scout looks the best. She looks like the girl next door. Somebody you could trust. Something this picture shows.

I like this picture the best of the girls.

Zombie's fascination with long hair is starting to become a bother.

Seriously, no offense, but would this guy really be dating the "high school slut" in 2007? Or in 1995, for that matter?

The long hair is somewhat appropriate for the '78 scenes, but it appears Zombie has broadcast this concept throughout the entire film.

We get it Zombie... You love long hair... It's cool... Groovy dude...

Nonetheless, it's not typical of the average high school student nowadays -- and certainly not in 1995 when I was there (or whatever the hell year this movie takes place).

I was in high school that year... Hell no... You want accurate representation: watch movies like Halloween 6 and Clueless (the upper sect). Add in a little Saved by the Bell: The College Years and Roseanne (The David and Darlene years).

That's what we looked like.

Sure, people like this Bob existed, but they weren't exactly on the high school scene, and certainly weren't dating the high school slut. Which is basically what Linda is.

No offense to Linda, but that is her character.

Monte

That's odd, because to me he has exactly the kind of grunge look that was so popular at the time, long hair and everything. Maybe not the glasses, but then the glasses are like The Signature of Bob.

Despite style, he's no more of a dork than the original Bob was.

People like Bob existed. They existed in '78 and '95; they still exist in '07. There's nothing wrong with Bob (well mostly), but that's not the point.

However, the chances they are dating the most popular slutty girl in school [Linda's sterotype] is a fairytale. Yes, we know that's not fair, but that's just reality.

The only point is the following: That look doesn't work in 1995 or 2007 -- or anywhere between for that matter.

Monte

And girls like Annie and Linda would not be hanging around with girls like Laurie. No one seems to have a problem with that, though. And as I added above, Old Bob was just as nerdy as New Bob.

Yeah, that guy doesn't look like he could land a girl like Kristina Klebe.
He might be able to get the school skank, but Linda is a cheerleader in this movie just like she was in the original. From what I remember of high school, the cheerleaders usually hung with the better looking guys or the jocks, not greasy looking stoner dudes.

That look was fine if you were in a successful band, but I don't think girls were attracted to it in general.

Laurie was shy, but not poor or even nerdy looking. Girls like Annie and Linda would hang out with her for several reasons. They would view her as a someone they could help break out of her shell (which is what Annie tried to do by setting her up with Ben Trammer), and also someone they could push around easily. They all three might have grown up together, too.
As far as Bob goes, in the original he came off as a prep and possibly an athlete. That's exactly the kind of guy a cheerleader like Linda would go for.

Wow, preppy athletes in the '70s were total geeks then. I wish I were a teenager at that time, I'd have girls all over me.

Then again, back then the Fonz was actually considered a cool pop-culture figure, so you may have a point.

Long hair doesn't annoy me: Long hair on every single male character (or pushing it) is what is ridiculous. This is not what people look like nowadays -- and they didn't in 1995.

Did you not read the post where I stated it was appropriate for the '78 scenes? I clearly stated this. What part of this don't you understand? You live in a world with many opinions. You better be able to deal with them, or you'll be wiped out pretty fast in the real world.

Of course you enjoy the fact that a "nerdy guy" can get Linda. Why? Because by stating that, you yourself are likely a nerdy guy who couldn't get Linda. The only people who say things like that can't get the hot girls themselves.

In addition, I don't find this Linda nearly as hot as P.J. Soles was in her peak years. And I'm a lot younger than P.J. soles. Both Annie and Laurie are hotter this time around compared to '78 where Linda took all the glory.

The point: It's a complete fabrication and a 100% fairytale in this world that someone like Bob would be having sloppy seconds with Linda. In 2007 or 1995... unless you happened to save Linda out of a blazing fire. She'd still only thank you and date someone on the high school football team or the school underwear model.

Unless she was on some form of psychotropic drug therapy or ADD medication -- which many girls are now, so you might have a shot.

I have long curly hair in 2007. I had short curly hair in 1995.

Plus - I really think - removing the glasses, Nick Mennell could probably pick up Kristina Klebe:

Okay, so since you said that the long hair is appropriate for the 70's, I'm assuming the only person you have a problem with having long hair is Bob (or Myers himself, but he's wearing a mask most of the time, so that shouldn't count). That's only one character, not EVERY single male character like you stated.

And you can't just say no one looked like Bob in 1995. Someone could have looked like Bob. Not everyone follows the trends of fashion and style of the time they're living in.

And you know I'm a nerd how? Because I like something that goes against normal conventions? Normal trends? Something that dares to be different instead of the same thing? Give me a fucking break.

And, you know, you've forgotten one little thing when talking about how that relationship is a complete fabrication......

IT'S A MOVIE!!!

Movies are fabrications. They're not real. They don't necessarily have to follow the rules of life (or what you perceive to be the rules of life).

That's all I've got to say on this subject. You guys can continue talking about how Lynda's breasts aren't the right shape as they were in the original film or whatever stupid arguement comes up next.

Lynda dating a guy with goofy glasses at least shows that there might be deeper levels to her character. Maybe this movie will give me something that is very, very rare in horror films (and, I'll admit it, in real life too) - a cheerleader I actually DON'T want to see get mutilated.

That's odd, because to me he has exactly the kind of grunge look that was so popular at the time, long hair and everything. Maybe not the glasses, but then the glasses are like The Signature of Bob.

Despite style, he's no more of a dork than the original Bob was.

Actually the grunge look was pretty much dead by 95. Some people tried to keep it alive, but it was over. He would never get a girl like Linda unless he paid her.

And girls like Annie and Linda would not be hanging around with girls like Laurie. No one seems to have a problem with that, though. And as I added above, Old Bob was just as nerdy as New Bob.

Actually, I know many girls like Annie, Linda, and Laurie that are best friends. Just because Laurie is shy doesn't mean she is around her friends.

I look at it this way. Lynda likes to take a walk on the wild side. She is a cheerleader but she likes the bad boy. So she dates bob who is the nasty greezy bad dude. That way she gets what she wants *wink *wink and she gets to rebel against her parents, who I am sure do not like Bob.

Anyone noticing how we are seeing Michael all the time? This is bothering me because I was hoping to get more POV shots. That is what made him scary for me in the original, not the violence he gave, but seeing him stalking the people, and not seeing him. He could be anyone really.

I posted this here because of all the pics showcasing Michael.

Dark Empire

This is one of the downsides of having Zombie direct the film, he isn't really big on suspense. Like a few of the reviews said, you know where Michael is all the time.

Joker
08-02-2007, 07:28 AM
I think it will be more suspenseful then you think. The bit where Laurie and her parents are talking looks like classic POV stuff which we all know what that leads to. I think it will have suspense and then be followed by extreme gore. Can't complain.

Ok, in the trailer when McDowell says-

"You haven't said a word in fifteen years..."

Anyone else feel that he was relying on Donald's classic delieveries? I know it sounds dumb, but he sounded just like him, and Donald had a VERY unique voice. I don't know, it just struck me as odd.

I don't think knowing where Michael is at all times will necessarily be a bad thing. He hasn't really been an almost phantom like presence since the original, anyway. If the Shape is actually frightening in this movie (and the trailers certainly make it appear so), it won't matter how often we see him.

Malcolms voice is very similar to that of Donald Pleasence. I don't think he was trying to imitate him, but it's hard to say.

I hope the shape is kept to a Halloween 2 level of reveal. You saw plenty of him in H2, but he was also hidden enough to keep him scary and otherwordly.

Malcom has never seen the original and Rob recommended he didn't.

Seeing Meyers more won't be a problem and there could still be suspense.

Suspense is knowing something is going to happen... just not when exactly it will. I can't think of any horror movies in recent memory that has had suspense, let alone scare me the way the original did. That being said, I believe Zombie is taking this movie in a direction that will be against the grain of all the other crap out there.

The scenes of Meyers in the trailer alone are far superior than all the crap movies the industry has been spitting out for a while. I have a good feeling about it.

In the pictures and now the trailers, it is evident that Zombie has made this his own and I believe the style will be refreshing.

I don't think so. In my opinion, the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre gets a bit of an unfair beating. Of course it doesn't have the originality and realism of the classic original, but as far as mainstream horror film making goes it's pretty good.

Yeah, it does look good, and I'm pleased we get an 'aftermath' so to speak, with cops, TV reports etc, giving it a true crime feeling.

Though I'm still a little iffy on the idea of a 10 year old butchering an entire house full of adults.

When my brother was 11 years old and wrestling with my older brother, who was about the age I am at the time, he accidently broke my older bros. Wrist. So it is possible for kids to do some damage, meaning that a kid with the element of surprise at his side could possibly do it.

As for the "aftermath" thing. Yeah I really like that, it's very cool to see the consequences of it all. It kind of makes it feel more real.

Yes. Funnily enough his character was never announced and one day out of the blue Rob messaged me on MySpace and told me that I had a background character (Princess 1 played by Nikki Taylor Melton) on my cast pictorial list (the circular things I used to post) and told me she wasn't a real character. I asked him who Courtney was playing as he'd announced him, Clint Howard, Adrienne Barbeau & Daryl Sabara were cast, but not what characters they were playing (and by this time I'd figured the others out) but he messaged back saying Courtney was playing Kendall Jacks who was an orderly at Smith's Grove...that was long winded I know:D

It was based around the Halloween 6 mask. I have it and the eyes on mine are much bigger and rounder - they look much more like the H6 eyes. The eyebrows and the overall size of the mask also indicate H6 as it's inspiration.

As for how I feel about it - I think it's horrible. That mask is commonly referred to as "Old Blue Lips" and is ridiculed by basically every Myers mask collector out there. Any post showing adulation or affection towards this mask is nothing more than a simple joke. (At least, let's hope).
