Do you guys think if there is a halloween remake soundtrack taht rob will produce it or some one else affiliated with the Franchise? Also, What do you guys think will be on it?

Khan

Tyler Bates (who did the score for 300) is doing the music for this, so I would expect that to be released.

In terms of a soundtrack, that will also probably be done, and feature all of the "hip" new artists.

Thanks Myers walk I was interested about finding out about this ! You know your shit buddie!

Khan

No problem. ;)

Tyler is a very talented composer, so I am confident in his ability to create a score suitable for the film.

Now Tyler Is the one who did the Score on H20 right ! He did a fine job on it ! Whatever happened to good ol Alan Howarth ! He did FIne work Also?

Tyler also did the score for The Devil's Rejects and the Dawn Of The Dead remake.

I see I cant wait to see his mix on this one!

Thurisaz

Tyler has never done a Halloween score prior to this.

As for a sountrack with the 'hip artists' as you put it. I doubt that.

Also Samhain, you really need to realize that not every sentence requires an exclamation point. ;)

Khan
05-22-2007, 07:47 AM
Yeah, I checked IMDB, and this is his first Halloween soundtrack.

You don't think there willl be a soundtrack with various artists?

scoob
05-22-2007, 08:29 AM
John Ottman did H20.

I dont think there would be various artists as it would not make sense. H20 and H8 had LL Cool J and Busta Rhymes involved with the film yet they never lent their vocal talents to the soundtrack - thankfully.
It should be as the previous soundtracks have been - instrumental. You never know though, maybe Rob might throw a couple of tracks on!

Khan
05-22-2007, 08:37 AM
Hopefully Rob has no involvement in any soundtrack.

scoob

Lets hope!

I dont mind his music but I wouldnt like to hear it on a Halloween soundtrack.

Khan

Yeah, no pounding "metal" is needed.

I also don't mind his music, but it has no place in a Halloween film.

Roswell
05-22-2007, 09:08 AM
Tyler's scores are a mix of orchastral and electronic sounds, so I doubt you'll be hearing any heavy metal music in the movie.

Khan
05-22-2007, 09:15 AM
Yeah, his 300 score mixed the two elements really well and fit right in with the context of the movie.

"The Shape Returns in '07." is the title of the what could be the main song on the new Halloween soundtrack. Rob's official site on my space has made this song available instead of the John Carpentar version. Turn it up load to hear all the sounds. It's a Masterpiece.

Have any of the H'movies ever had a seperate Score & Soundtrack? To my knowledge, its always been a straight forward movi score. I mean, take the H20/Ottman thing out of the equation where we had a score that wasn't in the final movie for the most part...

I know with Reject's there was a CD for Tyler's score and another CD for the soundtrack, so I guess, with Zombie as Music Supervisor, there's a possibility we might get both this time around.

Jackolantern99

The song on Rob's myspace profile was also the one used in the trailer, so it might actually be the legitimate theme...

As far as a soundtrack/score goes, I'd say it has a lot to do with whether or not Rob chooses to use music outside of a score in the movie. If he throws other people's songs in there insted of opting to go with a score throughout the movie, we'll most likely see a Score AND a Soundtrack.

Hopefully, though, he doesn't pull a "Snakes on a Plane" and release a soundtrack CD with songs that weren't even in the damn movie.

Today's popular music (rap, emo, etc) has no place in a Halloween movie, so let's hope that doesn't happen.

I didn't get my initial thought across properly.

Loads of films feature popular bands, I don't see why Halloween should be any different.

I just don't want to hear any stupid rap, nu-metal or Emo in the movie just to appeal to the MTV crowd (a huge audience for the movie).

There needs to be some respect for the film.

I should have clarified that earlier.

Hey now, I'm an "emo" fan...well, I don't consider the bands I listen to to be emo, it's just what society has grouped them as, but yeah, and I'm not a part of the MTV crowd :/.

Khan
05-26-2007, 08:24 AM
What is "emo" in your definition?

For instance, Fall Out Boy has said that they aren't Emo, but they get put in that group.

I don't like anything on the radio, so I just don't want it to be included in any soundtrack.

Muse
05-26-2007, 08:35 AM
Fall Out Boy.. I'd say not emo. But that doesn't mean I want them on a Halloween soundtrack! I don't want anything other than compositions like on the previous soundtracks, especially H1. That's what Halloween is. The music is so important, and I don't want to see any band of the sort in a Halloween movie. Just my opinion of course.

EDIT: Never mind. See post below. It has more of an explanation, whether it be right or not. I'd say it's more right than wrong though.

punkrocklove

This is my last post on the matter.

What Emo Is And Some History.
Emo is short for emotive hardcore. It's a DIY music style (not a shitty fashion) that started in the 80's. Emo follows (but is not restricted to) the lines of hardcore. Hardcore is a subgenre of punk, therefore, so is emo. The first emo band is often credited to Rites Of Spring. They played with hardcore punk rock energy (as the members were previously involved with hardcore bands) and lots of emotion through their performance and with their audience. Their lyrics seem to have important views about life and a sense of deepness.

"Emo" As A Term.
The term "emo" was generated as an insult to people in the hardcore scene that liked these bands. An emo band's performance on stage (can include crying/moaning/etc. their lyrics and various other events) probably made them look "weaker" to the hardcore kids, which is (why I think) "emo" was directed as an insult.

What Screamo is.
Screamo has evolved from emo. This music style invloves more screaming and often has more melodic breakdowns. Screamo is still emo, therefore follows its guidelines.

What Emo Is Not.
Emo is not short for emotional. Emo is not a fashion. Emo is not "XxXxXxXOMMMFFGZZZZ IM LYKE, SO DEPRESSED!XxXxX!!!1!!111 IM GONNA SLIT MY WRISTZZZZZZZ...LOL..XxXxX xX" Emo was not mainstream (because it was DIY). Emo has nothing to do with being depressed, shitty metaphors, or suicide. Emo is not whiney, bullshit music sung by pubescent males that haven't dropped their balls yet.

Real Emo Bands: Rites Of Spring, Embrace, Moss Icon, Funeral Dinner, Gray Matter, Hot Cross, Off Minor, Indian Summer, Sleepytime Trio, etc...

Screamo Bands: Saetia, Orchid, Pg. 99, I Would Set Myself On Fire For You, Love Like...Electrocution, Angel Hair, Antioch Arrow, Majority Rule, Usurp Synapse, Love Lost But Not Forgotten, etc...

Record Labels Known To Produce Important Emo Bands: Discord Records, Level-Plane Records, Magic Bullet Records, Ebullition Records, etc...

NOT Emo Bands: Taking Back Sunday, Hawthorne Heights, My Chemical Romance, Dashboard Confessional, From First To Last, Bright Eyes, Simple Plan, The Used, Senses Fail, etc...

i wouldve totally loved to see one rob zombie track on there but the way the soundtrack is looking its more of a tarantino-esque style that will date the movie as older instead of modern. so as much as i love robs music, it doesnt look like it fits on here. he is also keeping it real by having "cool clips" from the movie in between songs like he did with the other movies he has made. the track listing is awesome, i know almost all the songs by heart already.

im actually looking forward to a new rob zombie movie more than im looking forward to a new halloween but im 99.9% sure he is going to breathe some well needed life back into the franchise. im sure after i get to watch it i will be so excited that theres a new halloween. dont get me wrong but its about time they got their heads on straight.

as far as the early talk in this thread about having emo music, COME ON!
no one, and i mean NO ONE is more emo than michael myers. hahah

I wonder why The Sweet - Love is like Oxygen has been removed from the score?

Since the track listing has been out Ive collected all the songs on my iPod to listen to. And I was totally digging the intro to Love is like Oxygen.

Something about it that reminds me of Scream and Halloween 6.

Oh well cant wait for this and the score.

EDIT: Why did they use a live recording of the Frampton tune? That's bizarre.

I believe it might have to do with how much it costs to use the song. It may have been cheaper to use the live version than the studio version.

Malcolm McDowell's lines seemed kind of corny...hopefully they'll be better when I hear the lines over the film. I must say this is a great soundtrack. The two Tyler Bates themes are beyond what I dreamt they could do with the original scores. I'll be completely honest, the original score never scared me by just listening to it (I love it though). While driving and listening to Tyler's "The Shape Stalks Laurie" it sent chills down my spine and I got goosebumps. The odd screeching nosies add a lot of suspense to the tracks. As for the actual songs, I like every song but I'm still on the fence about Halloween II by the Misfits. Nan Vernon's cover of "Mr. Sandman" is kickass. I'm hoping it's featured somewhere in the movies or during the end credits. Everyone should check this soundtrack out and def buy the score once it's released.

Audioslave
08-21-2007, 04:59 PM
Bought the soundtrack.

Meh. I knew what I was getting, so for 10 bucks I'm not too upset. It sucks that the Halloween theme is the same that was released online last summer. There are some good rock tunes here. Most of the dialogue is too short to matter, but none of it is really spoiler material, so that's a plus.

The two standouts are the final two (musical) tracks. Tyler Bates' "Shape Stalks Laurie" is fucking great. It's very textured and dense and creepy. It makes my mouth water for the rest of the score. I hope it's released soon. Also, Nan Vernon's "Mr. Sandman" is a wonderful cover. Although the original song will always grouped with Back to the Future in my mind, I'm glad Rob picked several of the best songs from the original two films to pay tribute. This version of Mr. Sandman is very eerie.

You really shouldn't be. Its a great song.

After giving the soundtrack a few more listens, I think the two Bates tracks have got to be the best themes since Carpenter's original. They are both just extremely raw and spontaneous and untethered, which is something that hasn't been present in horror soundtracks for quite awhile. After being bombarded by boring, orchestrated pieces of crap, not only in the last installments of the Halloween franchise, but in horror films in general, Bates' themes are definitely quite a breath of fresh air. I too hope they release the score some time soon.

Disappointing.

Personally, I don't think this is worth $10. The Dialogue Lines can be heard on iTunes since they fall within the :30 second preview and all of the songs can be obtained seperately, with exception of Nan Vernon's wonderful "THE SANDMAN". Tyler Bates' tracks, while not as powerful as Carpenter's simple composition, are good. Hopefully, there will be a score CD released in the future.

Also, the dialogue lines show the lack of Zombie's writing & McDowell's over-the-top delivery. However, I will re-think the dialogue when it's put into context w/ the film. I just feel that Zombie is trying to rip from Tarantino's soundtracks. While, sometimes dialogue from non-Tarantino films put on CDs works...this a prime example of it not working (again, my opinion could change on this after I see the film - but it seems like these snippets are not quintessental dialogue).

It is ver 70's theme.
I LOVED Don't Fear The Repair, Mr. Sandman, and Halloween 2007. It is VERY creepy. :D
I hope they release the score soon. :D

I don't know if this has been posted yet, I didn't see that it had, but the "Halloween" soundtrack has debuted at #82 on the Billboard Top 200 charts. http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/charts/chart_display.jsp?f=The+Billboard+200&pageNumber=Top+51-100&g=Albums

So has anyone heard anything yet about the score CD? I thought Tyler Bates did an awesome job with it and I really want to add it to my collection.

I'm in love with the Misfits 'HALLOWEEN II' track...I don't understand a WORD they say...but I love that song.

If I'm not mistaken, the words are in Latin. I'm surprised that Rob didn't go with "halloween" rather than "halloween 2"!?! At any rate, It's always good to hear a Misfits song in a film! Yes, I'm a huge fan.

I think they should put the music they used for the workprint in there too.

There should be a score made for the people that like the music, and what to listen to it. plus for the fan-made films it they want to use it, cause I've see allot of Halloween fan films where they will use the music straight from the soundtrack.

Halloween 6 soundtrack had some of the producers cut and theatrical music but not all of the theatrical which some people wanted.
