I'd like to see a midnight showing of the film, horror films play better in the late night hours because you ussually get to see it with horror movie fans, and they just get the films better than a typical audience

I got to Ohio University, and there is a small theatre uptown called the Athena. It is GREAT

I am sure that it will have Halloween.
They show midnight movies and it only have three screens.
Right now they are showing Grindhouse, 300 and ATHF. So its pretty much the coolest theatre in the entire world. If you are evern near Athens Ohio you should stop in and catch a flick.

yea the bottom two theatres are old style non stadium seating rooms. the upstairs is a Ebert and Ropert style theatre where you sit maybe 10-20 feet from the screen. It looks like something someone could make in their own home. TOTALLY rocks. Seen alot of GREAT movies up there. Halloween will probably be in the lower, bigger rooms first but then as it is out for a while will move upstairs so you can sit really close to the action and enjoy it in all its glory.

I really think halloween will play absolutely great in the small, more intimate, theatres. Horror is great in a close crowd

This is the same theatre that showed TCM (the original) at a midnight show and had someone dress up as leatherface and run down the isle as they made the film cut out and the room go dark. Itís a total trip.
Of course we also have a enormous Halloween block party every year here and so the horror movie/spook house stuff pops up everywhere around October.

haha, I agree. I feel like I should wait, but I'll probably see it in the theater. The last one (and, ironically, only one) I've seen in the theater is HR...and, well, we know how great that was. So, I'll probably drag someone to see it in the theater..but if I miss it, I won't be sad.

btw its anticipating. you said you'll watch it many times as you possibly can......what if the movie is not good?.

Good for you if its the most anticipating movie of your life, well you see i have already seen this story once before...so i'll instead invest my 10$ on something original or that i never saw before, i never saw the point or a very good justifiable reason to remake a classic Horror Movie like "Halloween", i can accept once awhile a remake (i did like TCM , i have no problem admiting that a remake movie entertainment me) but lately its to much.....

I'm kind of nervous and excited at the same time... I think that Rob Zombie has a good eye and can acheive what he sets out to do... I think he is smart enough to have a good plan and not to touch a classic unless he really feels he has a good idea (as he's said), but I can't help but feel nervous. I will go to a 12 AM showing if I am very awake at the time, but if the movie is bad, I will be crushed. Such a classic is a hard one to remake... I really have a lot of hope that I 'hope' doesn't get crushed.

Probably on dvd unless I get a free ticket. I appreciate that Rob is trying to satisfy fans in a way, but I just can't give the movie my money for a few reasons. One being that, well it just doesn't look good. All the footage I have seen looks, well, bland. Another being that I still need closure on the main series. Maybe if I knew that giving them my money, and making it a success would help give them the motivation to put a very respectable end to the main series, then I may go; but a part of me feels that the more success the remake has also means the more likely the original series is dead- and on a poor note as well. Then again if the remake doesn't do well, that's a real downer for the series and it would probably be ten years before anything new is done to rejuvinate it. In the end though, I highly doubt one ticket matters in the grand scheme of things, so I just won't go because it doesn't look or read like my cup of tea.

Now Trick R' Treat looks to be a Halloween themed movie I'll spend my money on though.

I feel the same way. I had to accept the fact that the remake/reimaging was going to happen. So soon the film will be ready to appear. I am excited because its a Halloween movie, but also kinda apprehensive as to what the end product will result. Hopefully, it will live up to fans' expectations. I don't want it to be some popcorn movie. So, basically I gotta give it a chance. I will be going opening night, right after work.

That's utter crap. The old series is dead and how anyone can't see that this movie looks better than H5 H6 H20 and Resurrection is beyond me. Once again I will state, IMO... anyone that a member of a Halloween message board and doesn't want to see this movie shouldn't be on this board.

That's utter crap. The old series is dead and how anyone can't see that this movie looks better than H5 H6 H20 and Resurrection is beyond me.I think people are fooling themselves when they talk about wanting closure to the "other" timeline. First off, the continuity is so screwed up at this point that we have two separate storylines. One has NO chance of ever being rectified/closed and the other (H1, H2, H20, H:R) had very little either. A sequel to H:R, would NOT have provided full closure to the series. There most certainly would have been some hint, if not a blatant one, that he wasn't dead in order to leave the door open for... another sequel! So the fact is basically we weren't going to get closure following H:R with or without the remake.

I agree with your opinion.

One doesn't need to praise the remake to be a Halloween fan.

Yes, it looks better then the last few movies (especially Resurrection), but that isn't saying a lot.

One is free to talk about this movie and not praise it.

I plan on going opening day, first showing.

What about you guys?

I really want to see it on opening night but I don't think I can get anyone to first, go with me since most of my friends are not in to these kinds of movies AND they work different scedules than me. And second, the only person that would really be hyped about this as me is my one best friend's boyfriend; she doubts that he'd go to the opening night though because it'll be "crowded." Bah. I may just have to make my dad go with me or go alone.

My expectations aren't exactly stellar, but I'll still see it theatrically. I tend to see the worst horror films theatrically which is why I'm a little scared.

I was not even thinking about the movie being released on Labor Day weekend because that's a big weekend I go to the family cabin with family and friends. However, we usually don't leave until later on in the evening so I definitely plan on seeing the first available showing right before I leave for the cabin.

Also, whether I like it or not, I will be seeing it a second time with my best friend on Tuesday or Wednesday and a third if it will be at the local drive-in with a few more friends.

If I really do end up loving this film, my goal will be to see it five times because the other film I've seen most is Titanic with four times (shut up...all of you!!! :p). No matter what, I will be seeing it two times and if I like it enough those times, I will most certainly see it at least once more. I don't think I will love it enough to see it five times but I really am psyched. It's so much fun to get hyped up here on the board and it makes it a whole different experience. This is what we're all here for and what we've been waiting for...whether it was to be a sequal, prequal or remake. It's Michael Myers back in action! Woot!!! :D

I'll be honest, I wasn't sure I was going to go see this, since I'm getting tired of all the remakes (more like restarts) and I thought the Halloween series should have ended in a high note with H20.

And I Keep On Scaring The Crap Out Of EveryOne Each Year(lol)Only this Year It May Not Happen Because I Have To Have Major Surgery To My Neck; Around 3rd wk. Of Sept. 2007. So I Won't Know Until The Last Minute If I'll Even Be Able To Give Out Candy For The T.O.T.ers. Like My Friends And I Been Doing Since 1990; Having A Yard Haunt And The Most Popular Yard Haunt In S.E. San Antonio;Texas. This Blows Chunks...Oh Well. Take Care EveryOne!!

Lol...yes, that Danielle Harris scene should be nice. Although, I've heard its not an "enjoyable" nudity...whatever that means. Lol. And MovieTickets.com has it listed in my area as 1 hour and 49 minutes...which is what I heard a while back too...so, that's good. Oh and I'm seeing the movie THURSDAY AT 7:00 at a sneak preview...CAN'T WAIT. If it's good I'll be seeing it again on Friday during the day, and then next week sometime as well.

Seeing Danielle nude'll be worth the price of admition alone. I've been wanting to see that for a long time. Her scenes in Urban Legend were the only really good thing about it (Her Tosh character should have been the main character). And I'm one of a lotta people that have been waiting for her to get back into the Halloween series. Hopefully, the rest of the movie will kick ass too.

Then I'm hoping for a Blue Ray Disc rlease. I want naked Danielle in hi def.

The first time it's showing here is12:50 p.m. So I guess that's when. It'll be odd leaving a Halloween movie during the daytime.

I have just preordered my tickets for the three o'clock show. Had to wait for my bf to get off. :D It would have been nice to have it released in October so we would be able to leave the theatre at night with the crisp air and the sound of crunching leaves underfoot.

Seems like its gonna be a faster, bigger Micheal this time out, and apparently not supernatural. We'll have to wait and see whether Rob turns out somehing equivilent to the Texas Chainsaw remake or if he just did Tri Star Godzilla on the Halloween franchise.

I will say that I am a little pissed that they're doing a whole restart, since the franchise has already been restarted once with H20.

Same here, and our local drive-in is doing a family themed weekend with Daddy Day Camp, Shrek 3 and The Nanny Diaries. Oh well, maybe they will get it next weekend.
