Name says it all...

I gotta go with Roger. He was funny, outgoing, and the clown of the group. He lightened the mood, when everyone else was down in the pits, worrying what to do. He always had a clear head (until the truck driving part), and knew how to get out of an incident.

And when he met his demise, and Peter had to shoot him, you could almost feel that the rest of the movie from that point on was missing something. It was missing that upbeat vibe, that kept the film from becoming too depressing. And towards then end of the film is probably the most depressing part about it.

Now you give'r a shot!

I had to say Roger as well...for all the reasons you stated.

Are you the one that made me the Roger avatar before? With "Rae of the Dead" on it?

I like when I talk to other Dawn fans, and how Peter is their fav. character because he doesnt die. Even though Rog did get bit, and was transformed into a zombie, his character was probably the most important in the film. He kept the mood light, and happy for such a depressing time. And when Rog met his demise, what happened 20 minutes later? The rest of the group met their demise in the mall. They took their head out of the game, and started thinking stupidly and greedily. They lost their cool to the bikers, and ultimately lost the mall, when they could have easily hid from the gang in their hideout, waiting for things to cool over. I have to say though, it would be pretty interesing seeing how the group would fix that kind of mess the bikers left in the mall.

I really think Roger was the most important character in the film.

I loved Blades (Tom Savini)!!! :D He ruled all...

I thought Peter really had it together a bit more than Roger. True, Roger was funny.........but Peter had that level head that really coached the gang through some of the tougher spots I thought. Flyboy is the one that fucked them in the end, all Peter could do was try to limit the damage of what he had done. Plus Peter had the line that will always remind people of Dawn immediately upon hearing it.

I go with Peter.

Peter. If I were involved in a zombie apocalypse he's the guy I would like to have at my side.He is smart, calm and always ready to make a dirty job done like shootin a friend who became a living dead.He got balls and can be very helpful.I don't want have near me someone who's able to get me killed anytime

Peter, with all the madness going around. He kept cool and collective.Even if he did have to kill a friend.Who became the living dead..

i think part of the reason i like Peter best is that in alot of horror movies you have people that are making usual mistakes and whatnot, theres something cool about having someone thats a really level headed specialist in the movie to make sure people dont act up too much. but at the same time......

Roger is just as cool really, cause its not just a horror movie, its an entertaining comic book movie at the same time, that wouldnt have been an aspect in the movie without Roger, he did bring a huge vibe to the movie with his halarious attitude.
"come in 2 tall 2 slow 2" is one of his lines that still cracks me up regardless of how shitty i feel.

needless to say that theyre probally the coolest movie duo ive seen.

LoL.

Flyboy wasnt cool until he turned into a zombie. I still laugh at the part when he knocks over that hippy zombie in front of Fran. Or when Roger has to hit his gun out of the way, bucause he sucks at shooting shit.

I am really surprised that no one has picked a zombie yet. The Krishna Zombie was fucking hilarious. Jingling his bells and tamberines has he creeped by. HA!

That really fat Zombie without the shirt was hillarious. Especially when he falls in the fountain.

But for a main character, I liked Roger the best.

absolutely roger. he's my favorite character; he was always trying to beat the odds, trying to walk among the zombies thinking that he would never get hurt, and he was always clowning around, taking the characters out of their depressing situation. I really felt down from the moment that roger was bit in the arm, even though that was the first time that I watched dawn, I already knew that if you get bitten by a zombie you turn into one of them. I was like( why roger?) . after having watched the movie a few times, I've been wondering how the story would've developed If roger had not died, he would had enjoyed running around the mall picking up stuff and playing cards with steve and peter, and shooting gang members at the end of the movies. Roger de marco rules, I think that If I were in the same situation with three more people, I would probably be acting crazy like roger.

I would probably be more like Peter. I tend to be a little reserved and thoughtfull when it comes to certain things. Roger's end was brought about by his blatant cockiness and disregard for danger.

Roger beyond a shadow of a doubt. Why? Well, he was very level-headed through all the hell going on around him. Not only that he was a perfect shot without a scope. He could hotwire vehicles if the need arose. He'd be the kinda guy that could really save your ass if the dead did rise.

I guess there aren't any Fran fans...lol. I am not a big fan of her character and there are times when Gaylen Ross is just awkward but in the end, I still like the part played by her. I can tell that she truly loved being Fran...especially when I listen to the Dawn commentaries and stuff. She really likes refering to herself as "Flygirl."

I seriously didn't think that Roger would be in the winning streak on this (although I am overjoyed he is) because most other boards I visit...everyone loves Peter as their most favorite character. It makes me sad that a lot of people out there hate Flyboy too...which sucks because I absolutely love Stephen with all his flaws and especially when he gets zombified. Also like Chomp said previously...I always crack up when Stephen just body slams into the zombie by the airport, flailing around with the small sledgehammer. It is so bizarre yet totally entertaining at the same time.

my favorite guy is blade the motorbike dude withe the moustache who gets shot off the balcony in otherwords tom savini he was cool even though he was in it for 15 minutes he killed a few zombies in cool creative ways and he did the gore effects for the film. my other favorite guy is peter the hero of the film...who kills blade but blade shows up in land of the dead as a zombie

Toss up between Roger and Peter, they're both likeable. Honorable Mention - the Biker that gets his arm ripped off in the blood pressure machine.

I went with Roger, but it is a real toss up between Roger and Peter. Peter was the resident bad ass of the film. He was the guy who had it all under control. He was the guy you wouldn't want to mess with.

I think the day I pulled this one out I was very bored :)

Anyways, it was a hard choice for me too, Rich, because they're both very cool in their own ways. Flyboy was a little wimpy for me, but he made a terrifying zombie. When I was young, the elevator scene leading to the wall-scratching scene scared me pretty good :) So he was a better zombie than a good guy.

But I went with Roger because I wanted to shag him rotten, baby. OH...yeah!

Savini had some great lines as Blades.

TouchMe4Money
03-20-2009, 07:06 AM
I thought the intense darkness in his character made him unsympathetic (not that people didn't like that about him). And the whole "chocolate man" thing made it impossible for me to root for him.

At least he was good at that. I would actually be intimidated by him.

Khan
03-20-2009, 07:14 AM
Yes, I like him as a heel character, and he was especially imposing (yet comical) when he hit the zombie in the head with a machete, one of the many great parts of the finale.

TouchMe4Money
03-20-2009, 07:28 AM
I think my absolute favorite part of the finale was when Peter shot zombie Stephen in the head and the blood splattered on the wall. (Completely unrelated to characterization, of course)
