As most of you know tonight is the unveiling of the first trailer of Halloween. In an attempt to keep our general discussion thread from being over-burdened with trailer talk, I made this thread for people to come and post their experience in seeing the trailer and their thoughts on it.

This thread will be the place to come for this teaser trailer as well as all subsequent trailers and tv spots that are released between now and the big the day. Enjoy!

Rundown of the teaser:

- Text of saying how, in everyone there is darkness.
- Glimpses of young Michael: putting knife around his hamster, him in the clown mask.
- Young Michael kills someone with a baseball bat.
- Young Michael rubbing his sister's leg to her waking up. "Michael?"
- Scream.
- Young Michael being arrested.
- The mask.
- Montage of Michael attacking people.
- Ends with a shot of the Myers house. Then a quick pull in to the front door where Michael and this girl fly out. The girl is trying to break free, Michael pulls her back in and the door slams shut.

I'm seeing this tomorrow during the day, just don't have any time to see it at night this weekend. Can't wait.

I went to see The Reaping today, and I pulled a dumb teenager and snuck into the showing of Grindhouse (which began fifteen minutes before my movie) just long enough to see the trailer before heading off to see the movie I paid for. It was a good teaser, showing just enough footage to really bring home the point that there are some key differences between this and the original. I'm still excited for this remake, but it's gonna be tough to let go of the original since it's been my favorite horror film for 26 years now.

I'll repost my thoughts from the other thread. The trailer was really great. I mean, I had chills, goosebumps and a large smile across my face. Michael looks so badass, especially during the part where he was chasing Laurie. She was on the ground crawling away from him, screaming and he was just walking behind her. Not sprinting, running or even moving briskly. He was walking behind her and that was just mega creepy. He was taking his time, he was fucking with her and that just made me lose it. I also loved when he just walked up to the door and slashed the guy standing there. This is a ruthless, psychotic Michael. He's a downright badass bastard who will fucking kill you, no questions asked. This is the Michael we've been waiting for. McDowell sounded great as Loomis as well. You all will be happy with the trailer though. It's really great.

Dude, you woulnd'nt say that if we got this from ANY other director... Even if we got the same thing!

the only reason you're saying this is because of your "vendetta" (or whatever:crazy:?) against Zombie....

(PLUS! how do we know if zombie gets to choose how trailers are edited, MAYBE he supervises but he doesnt do it himself so you can't REALLY say its "typical Zombie")

the trailers good, if not, great. I saw earlier today.... (friend works at the theater). What everyone's saying is just about exactly how it is (from what i remember)

It's owned by Trancas. The movie itself is owned by Dimension. That would be my educated guess as to why you can't see the new stuff there. The Weinsteins must be rude since all the stuff I've seen is copyright by Dimension and the Weinstein Company. It has nothing to do with anyone at HM.com not wanting you to see anything.

Really great to see it again. Just as good as the first time. I dunno, there's just something about this Michael that gets me pumped. He's really the first one I feel intimidated by, the first one that's creepy IMO. Tyler Mane really seems to have nailed Michael (hardy har har) and I can't wait to see him full on. As I said before (and HAVE to say again), this Michael is a fucking badass. This looks to be a really great movie, one of the better remakes.

Love it. Love it. Love it.

Some really creepy shots… especially when Laurie is running away from Michael, yet he’s only a few feet behind her.

But DarkShape was right, the final scare doesn’t work at all. Apart from that, it’s a top notch trailer. And to think, that’s only the teaser!

The only thing I can say is WOW! Ive changed my opinion on this movie. Im willing to bet it will be awesome.Michale looks real creepy, and from the trailer it looks cool. I expected it to be a teaser, with not many scenes, but hell it was like a full trailer! Thanks for posting! WOW! Looks like Rob did a damn good job on this one. In my opinion this will be the breakthrough of his career.

MichaelMyers04

Every scene (except for the final scare) was absolutely perfect. Watching him carry Lynda (I think it was her), seeing Annie (Danielle) fight for her life, and watching the Shape walking rite behind Laurie as she runs was just mind-blowing. There are no words.....This may very-well be the best trailer of any movie so far!! Good job Zombie

That's really what got me going (as evident from my talking about it). I just LOVED how he was right there. He wasn't 300 feet away or a little shadow getting closer or someone in the distance. He was right the fuck there and that to me is much scarier than seeing a shadowy figure in the distance.

Hmm, I thought so. When I first saw the trailer online I was surprised by the green. I didn't remember it and did remember a brownish tint. I wonder why they're different. Actually, now that I think about it I'm almost positive that there was a brown tint in the theater. Bah, it doesn't matter either way. It's still a great trailer.

That is the best trailer in the world. This movie is going to be so cool. Some of the elements I read in the script didn't seem good on paper like a death with baseball bat or young Michael's somewhat sexual interest (feeling his sister's leg), but this trailer makes it look appropriate for what kind of film it is. This is going to be the greatest remake ever.

I think the trailer works so well because it's leaving out the problems spots in Zombie's version...a lot of the trailer trash family life and asylum scenes aren't shown at all. And I'm sure in the movie, the best part will be the "remake" section.

It's a very good trailer, but I'm not sure the whole movie will live up to the enthusiasm it's generating.

An interesting point, but when it comes to Halloween decorations and products, I've noticed in recent years they've kind of moved away from the traditional colors. Growing up I always equated orange and black as Halloween colors, but these days when I go shopping and see Halloween costumes, candy, etc, the labels and packaging are almost always red and green. It's something that's ticked me off, because it just makes it feel even more like my favorite holiday is getting swallowed up and regurgitated as "Christmas Part 1."

Now that I think about it, it makes me kind of ticked that this trend has sort of been passed on to the new Halloween movie, but I guess it's fitting.

Green, purple, orange and black are Halloween colors.

Orange and black are the more traditional "Halloween" colors, but as I said, green, red, and purple are becoming more common. And like I said, I don't really care for that trend. I almost never see old fashion orange and black decorations or signs on Halloween anymore. Most people in my neighborhood just put up red lights, which either makes their house look like a brothel or like it's Christmas time.

There is a difference between discussing and bitching. Saying "I wonder what inspired the green" is discussion, saying "the green sucks" is just a statement which doesn't induce much discussion.

From looking at it a few times, at first I thought the person in the car was Mrs. Strode, but realize it is Laurie. Also Laurie is the one Michael is carrying. Oh, is it true that Dee Wallace is going to die? :(

I was kinda disappointed in the trailer. I thought the look would be awesome, but it looks like a high school kid grabbed a really cheap camera to film a horror movie. Michael doesn't look that good either to me. I am still waiting to see the final cut, but my hopes are still low. Lynda looked great though, Laurie seemed ok. I am still curious to see Malcolm play Loomis. This didn't give us much for him, but I think he could do wonders after reading the shooting script.

Also, what is with the green for the color?

I never said it sucked. Someone suggested that orange would've looked better because it's a more traditional Halloween color, and I just brought up that green has become a more common decorative color for the holiday in recent years. Yes I think orange is more "Halloween-ish" than green, but it still looked pretty good in the trailer.

Anyways, since I had a spare minute, I'd whipped up an orange version of the title for the hell of it. Hope you don't mind I used your screencap from the other thread:

Holy shit! I was waiting until I saw Grindhouse tomorrow, but I was too excited. That trailer was amazing. Malcolm sounds awesome as Loomis (after I blocked the other generic "horror movie trailer narrator" voice out of my head), the movie looks bad-ass, and the girls look absolutely spectacular.

The shot(s) of Michael first entering the house and Laurie scrambling around by the stairs are particularly chilling, I think you can hear the kids screaming in the background. Creepy as shiiiiit.

That said, do Annie and Lynda wear clothes in this movie AT ALL?

For me, it was the footage that set it apart. As long as the footage used is good, the trailer will more than likely be good, regardless of the editing. Yeah, this trailer was generic in an editing sense, but what was shown to us was really great, IMO.

Wait. Maybe I'm taking this out of context, but are you actually dissing fans of the original Halloween?

Call me crazy, but I would think that the Admin would try to keep an impartial opinion. Please don't tell me that the kool-aid has been tainted to the point where now members are actually believing that this remake will be better than the original, or that anyone who questions the quality of this new Halloween is automatically some "fanboy" whose opinion should just be brushed off as being idiotic.

The real problem is the number of sycophants here who would praise a bowel movement if it had Rob Zombie's name attached to it.

Well, I must say, I was not really a fan of the whole Zombie experiment but that was quite nice. That my friend is a teaser trailer; hell some movies that would be the full trailer. It was a great way to get everyone excited and I think this will be a great flick. I just worry that if it is in fact too good that younger people will forget about the older movie and only watch that one. But all and all what a great trailer. I am also just glad that I got my software to rip videos off YouTube so now I have a copy for myself. Incase it gets taken down and all.

There is a difference between praising the original for the innovative piece of art it is and blindly looking at everything other than it as inferior. I think he means fanboy in terms of the people who hold the original as justification enough to flame and burn something that isn't even able to critique except now a trailer.

And putting an Admin at some high godly, must act this way pedestal, lol, you have to be kidding, everyone here are people with opinions and just because there in power they have to be impartial. Hello censorship!

Maybe he doesn't kill it. He was just petting it, waiting to kill a certain sister, and a certain sister's boyfriend.

He had it on. Because without his mask he would have long hair, like in the beginning of the trailer where we see him put the mask on.

He did have the mask on. I just checked it a few times.

What a great trailer, it give us just enough to get by on for a few weeks and then we'll be craving MORE, lol.

I like the green, green is a Halloween color in my opinion. Green is often used for witches, Frankenstein monsters, swamp things, etc. so green does remind me of Halloween at least.

The ending scare with Danielle was ok. A little confusing at first whats actually happening but going back and watching it again it's not that bad. It will probably play out bettter in the actual film.

The theme really sales it for me.

Chris, on a personal level, you and I have seen eye to eye on pretty much all occassions. What makes me hot and bothered is all the times that people don't give a movie a chance based on what came before it and bash it to any extent that they can think of. I may not like some of the stuff that's being said, but that's my opinion as well. I'm not asking for a gang mentality here to excamunicate anyone. I'm not looking for anything here other than a fair slice to everyone. Hell, I don't even run the board right now. That's fallen into the hands of others who I thought would do a great job in my stead. :)

As for this board not being what it used to be, I think that's not accurate. I haven't noticed any changes at all to this board from the previous board except that we're all now thrust into a remake. Some don't like it. Some do. I'm falling into the between. I want to see it before I make a final decision. The part that bugs me is that RZ has said that the majority of the movie will indeed take place in developing characters in the asylum. I didn't see anything that looked like it was out of the asylum and I'm quite worried that it may not be up to par with the beginning and ending of the movie.

I agree there are some who are blindly bashing it, which is stupid, but it seems that anyone who even remotely questions gets lumped in that group as well. That's what bothers me.Here's the thing though. People who *don't like* the remake can state their feelings. And then those who do like it can retort if they so please to do so. However, I think it's pretty obvious that if we saw someone getting ripped to shreds after having made a legit anti-remake post then we would step in. But do you look around and see the grounds people rip the remake on? OMGZ MEYERZ IS 2 TALL!!111. OMGZ ROB ZOMBIE DOSNT HAV THE SAME INITIALZ AZ JON CARPENTR SO DIS IS GONNA SUK. Obviously I'm exaggerating, but THAT's the majority of what is posted by anti RZ folk. And I'm sorry but if someone wants to post that type of crap then they deserve to get shot down by as many people as possible.

"gracing you with my presence"? WTF is that about? The board evolves with the times. We don't live in the past, we move on with the times. And I must say that with this film in full swing this place is better than ever. Sure we all yurn for those old days back in like 2003. But it's just nostalgia. It doesn't mean the board was any better then than it is now. People put a good bit of personal time into maintaining this place and making it not only the best Halloween board on the net, but a great community to be a part of. I get offended when I see some disgruntled old vet saying "oh this isn't what it used to be", because it's just not true.

It's not the same board because members didn't insult each other over opinions as much as they do now. It's much more like the old F13th board with it's clicks. Please man. To everyone arguing....whatever, either you like it or not... With that... I went to see grindhouse and alas..no trailer. But the movie was completely cheesy and rediculous and completely AWSOME. So when I arrived home to find the trailer online, I hooked the ole computer up to the 56 inch plasma and played it and I must say, I love John carpenter's masterpeice, but I still think this movie is gonna rock. Is it gonna be exactly like the original? Of course not, that's the whole damn point. It does look like one hell of a fun ride though, and mikey looks scary as hell, nough said.

At first I thought the trailer was slightly disappointing. Not because it looks bad, but just because I still haven't really excepted the idea of Michael being such a fleshed out character and not "the shape". Seeing the first 30 seconds of it really brings to life the vision Rob Zombie has claimed he had for it, being that Michael will be the main character and have all this personality and a deep backstory.

Those things have bothered me since I heard about them, mostly because it's just so different, such a change and a departure for the series. It's also how you keep things fresh and new and keep the series alive. So I can't bash the movie yet, although I do worry about what it will be in the end, but what fanboy can't. I refuse to judge it though until August 31st rolls around and we get to find out. Really, the greatest homage, the greatest justice Rob Zombie could ever do for Halloween is to just make a great movie, regardless of how different it is.

I saw the trailer with Grindhouse (which is the best 3 hours I've ever spent in a theater by the way), and like I said, upon first viewing, I was underwhelmed by the confirmation of so many rumors. But after seeing it again, I'm warming up to it and I'm giving Rob the benefit of the doubt and hoping that no matter how different it ends up from the original, that it's just a really good horror movie and will make people who've never seen the original become fans. We'll see August 31st.

There is ALOT of senseless bashing of this film and Rob Zombie that goes on. It makes it hard when people bring up worthwhile criticism about why they dont like the idea of this film because the optimist are tired of hearing the useless bashing. So anyone that has anything negative to say is a target. I've been before and I dont THINK my points were bashing. But anyways, thats just my theory on why negative post about this film are looked down upon.

Now, I'll readily admit that that was probably due to the fact that I'm obviously a hardcore Halloween fan just like all of you and seeing the shape back in a trailer is simply awesome. However, I liked what I saw. One thing is certain though... This isn't your daddy's Halloween, but I think that's something I can live with. I'll probably watch it a few more times in the coming days and try to evaluate it like I would if it wasn't a halloween movie. During that first viewing I was taken back to my 1998 days when I was a newbie to the Michael Myers and the halloween series and just learning the mythos.

Perhaps we can all come to one agreement. Michael Myers is pretty damn scary this time out... or so it would seem up to this point. Huge thanks to TJ for providing that.

Strange, it totally felt like a Halloween movie to me. But it is clearly different than what we're familiar with, so I think I can get what you're feeling.

There's one thing about the narration in it that I like. There's been a lot of horror remakes in recent years, and a lot of them, at least to the best of my memory, didn't play up the fact they were remakes. They were just straightforward trailers, assuming the audience would either already know the original or hoping those who don't wouldn't realize the trailer's for a remake. But this one actually had the line "reinventing a legend," which I thought was a cool gesture acknowledging the original, almost as if to say "if you don't know about Halloween what the hell's wrong with you?" ;)

I like the trailer, but I've got 1 thing bugging me. Why no scenes from the asylum? I wonder....

I'm just pulling guesses out of my ass, but maybe because they wanted the trailer to focus more on adult Michael, because that's what the audience would be familiar with and recognize. I mean they had to include some young Michael stuff too, as it's basically the whole set-up, but since it's just a teaser I'm guessing they didn't want to give away all the surprises.

I totally agree. Thats one thign I was thinking when I whatched the trailer. Its seems so unfamiliar, I don't know what too expect I was thoroughly creeped out by this michael myers , I didnt knwo what to expect and I liked thats apect as much as it might scare some others. Its all so...new.

I saw GRINDHOUSE tonight (FUCKING amazing), But no Halloween trailer. Luckly it was here when i got home. The trailer was just...amazing. I mean Michael is just seems fucking intimidating now. Fully chaseing Laurie down the street, walking up and SLASHING that guys throat....pulling (on of the girls) back in the house and smashing the door closed. Hes truly scary again. Michael aside, the girls look great, as does Loomis, as does everything else I saw. Im pleased.

i saw grindhouse too, aswell as the trailer. i agree w/ you, i know it is a trailer but it gives me hope that this will be a good film. i had the biggest grin on my face when that trailer came up on the big screen. i am glad it was on here when i got home, cos i have watched that damn thing too much already. i'm gonna wear myself out. i love the trailer, and i liked the "halloween" font. i am glad they didn't use the font that is featured on this board. smart move, hopefully it stays that way (on posters, dvds, etc).

One thing I can say after seeing the trailer is that the whole time, it didn't feel like Myers at all. But that isn't a bad thing. Definately scary, and this version of Myers is awesome, but it doesn't seem at all like the old Myers. Just my opinion, though.

.And the part where michael just walks right up to lauries father, right on his front lawn and slashes him across the face with a butchers knife. Thats insane to me.

I agree. I think the original Myers was a shadow-stalking machine. He hid in houses, backseats of cars, behind bushes. This guy seems to be more in your face and menacing than your average run of the mill Myers.
